Jordan Peele has done it again, but not without some flaws
9 April 2019
This movie was a great thriller with horror elements. The premise along is very interesting and is put to the screen beautifully. The entire cast is great with Lupita Nyong'o being the standout. The comedic moments that Peele sprinkles into his movies are amazing and hit every time. The more intense moments work as well as Peele finds a way to make the audience care for the characters and what will happen next. My biggest complaint with this movie is the fact that Peele gives the audience too many answers towards the end. It would have been better if he left more concepts ambiguous which would make us go home and think. Overall, I would recommend this movie as it is a great movie on the level of Get Out.

Shazam! (2019)

The funniest and best film of the DCEU currently
9 April 2019
I was excited to watch this movie since the first trailer dropped last year and with each trailer after that it just pumped me up more. Having watched the movie now, I agree with most people that this is not just a great DCEU movie, but a great movie in general. This movie brought me back to my childhood as this movie reminded me of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies. Shazam! had a ton pf heart, jokes and great characters. The entire cast did great things with the script as the characters felt real and everybody acted their age. The idea of giving superpowers to a teenager is shown realistically as many teenagers would do the same thing that Billy does. Mark Strong's Dr. Sivana was good, but not great. He worked for the movie but you probably won't remember him after a week. But he's not terrible, just good. The fight scenes are ok, when compared to the rest of the DCEU which makes sense considering Billy is a kid and the rest of the other characters are adults and gods. Overall, I had a great time and would recommend this movie even if you gave up on the DCEU as this one might win you back.

Good and enjoyable MCU film
10 March 2019
Going into this movie, I was open to whatever the film was going to offer. The reviews online didn't have an effect on me because it was very biased. After seeing the movie myself, I can say that this is a fun movie but not one that would rank high in the MCU. Brie Larson does a good job with what she's given and leaves me wanting more which we'll get in Endgame. Samuel L. Jackson gives my favorite performance of his in the MCU. Fury in this movie is more relatable and inexperienced which allows us the viewers to see growth throughout the movie. Ben Mendelsohn and Jude Law are also great in their roles. Mendelsohn's performance is able to solidify Talos as another great villain. The action scenes are fine but there's a lot left to be desired. They feel very plain and have no style or intensity. However, seeing Captain Marvel in her true glory was amazing and it leaves you believing that she could definitely help the Avengers. The story is also fine in that it's nothing groundbreaking but watchable. I feel this movie does its best when it's cracking jokes and being a buddy cop movie with Fury and Danvers. The references to the future of the MCU were also nice as it gives longtime fans something back after the countless hours they've spent in this universe. Overall, Captain Marvel is a good time at the movies and deserves at least a watch for yourself.

Wasted Potential
2 February 2019
If you saw the trailer, you've seen the best parts.

Inside this movie was a great thriller with good performances under the messy pacing and story telling. Jake Gyllenhaal probably gives the greatest performance in this movie but that's not saying much as he is not giving his all. The movie also keeps building and building up to what we all came here to see and by the point it gets interesting, it was too little too late. The first 1 hour and 20 minutes was a lot of uninteresting character building and story development which actually made me hate some of the characters. They were not particularly memorable or charming. John Malkovich, being a big marketing point in the trailer is extremely wasted as his character barely does anything and could have been played by anybody. In the horror/thriller department, the movie is very predictable as you can tell when the scares are going to happen as well as how the scene will play out. There were two great scenes that I loved. Both of which include Gyllenhaal starting to lose his sanity and I could feel the tension in those scenes. Overall, I feel that this movie was a huge step down from Gilroy's first film Nightcrawler which also stars Gyllenhaal.

The Punisher: The Whirlwind (2019)

A Great End To An Alright Season
20 January 2019
The Schultz and Pilgrim story line has been in the background for most of the season with little development and characterization. But in this finale, it made for an entertaining plot point as it finally gives us closure and characterizes John a bit more. This finale also has some heartfelt scenes throughout with Bernthal and Barnes giving some of their best performances. The last scene however does feel tacked on but it was a nice cherry on top for what is possibly the last scene of the series.

The season as a whole was alright. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. It always had me interested to see what was going to happen next and the performances from most of the cast helped as well. This season also managed to up the ante on the quality and quantity of the action scenes with each one being equally brutal and gory. Like I mentioned earlier, the Schultz story line has been in the background for the majority of the season which was a disappointment because John Pilgrim seemed to be an interesting character that would have melded well with Frank's character. Amy and Krista, both new characters, were good in the season but never went above and beyond as they sometimes were put in the back seat for some episodes.Overall, for a possible final season, I think they handled it pretty well. There were some episodes that were predictable and some that felt like they were wasting time, but for most of the earlier and the later episodes, they were pretty solid and exciting to watch.

A Great Start To Season 2
18 January 2019
This episode combines drama and action really well. The episode is able to show a new life for Frank Castle after season 1. As predictable as the episode is, Jon Berenthal makes it compelling as he puts his own take on it and shows a side of Frank that we haven't seen in a while. Throughout the episode, you as the viewer want Frank to settle down and start a new family. However with Frank being the Punisher, it doesn't last long as the climax was bloody and action packed. The action was very exciting and you can almost feel the punches that are being thrown. By the end, I was excited to see what this season could bring for us even if the show does get cancelled.

1/2 Of It Was Good But Mostly Disappointing
18 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This movie concludes a 19 year trilogy in a mediocre way. There's some good and a lot of bad. Great performances from the cast especially McAvoy carry this movie and make it watchable. Some scenes required him to switch from multiple personalities within seconds of each other. The action is also exciting when it is happening. The camera work is something that is spectacular to look at. The POV shots are immersive and there are some creative uses of color throughout. The first half was interesting and engaging which was good but then you get to the rest of the film.

The second half makes this movie end with a sense of betrayal as the entire buildup of the last 2 movies and the first half are ruined. The ending wastes a lot of potential that these movies have set up and trades it in for a conventional message to the viewers. Some of the scenes are laughable but not in the right way.

Overall, this movie was ok. It had some great moments but the ending ruins it. The movie has some nice references to the people who have seen unbreakable and split sprinkled in there. One of the twists is pretty good while the other just doesn't work.

A Truly Epic Finale
21 October 2018
The last two finales of Iron Fist and Luke Cage have been extremely disappointing. But this finale and the rest of the season have brought my hopes back up. This season was spectacular with great performances, great villains and fight scenes that can rival the best TV shows can offer. The final battle is one of the best scenes of the show as we can finally see all the pieces come together in a bloody fashion. The ending also shows the amazing chemistry between Murdock, Nelson and Page who all gave their best in this season. The last season also sets up a possible season 4 which I can't wait for. Although the season had moments similar to The Dark Knight Rises and Batman Arkham Knight, the season made it its own by giving a really compelling story. Overall, this was a spectacular season and I can't wait to see what is next for Daredevil.

Only This Show Can One Up Themselves
20 October 2018
What an episode. It had everything I wanted. Great character building, great music and a spectacular prison segment. The scene alone without the fight was amazing but adding the fight was the cherry on top. At the same time, seeing the other characters figure out how to take down Fisk is amusing. This was truly a nonstop thrill of an episode.

An Amazing Start!
19 October 2018
It's been 2 years since season 2 and just with the first episode, I'm happy to say that the quality has not changed. This episode mainly deals with the aftermath of the Defenders and how Matt is recovering. The story is still stellar as we check back in with over favorite characters while setting up new ones. There are also some really powerful moments in this episode that mixes visuals and music really well. It reminds me of some scenes from the Dark Knight Rises. My only complaint with this episode is the fact that Matt doesn't mention any of the other Defenders that could act as witnesses to confirm what happened. Overall, this is the best the Marvel Netflix shows have been since the Punisher season 1.

Stupid But Fun
6 October 2018
I was actually looking forward to this movie because of the cast and the director. After seeing some reviews online, I went in expecting to be disappointed. However, this movie was a fun time. It's not a good movie, but there are funny moments and moments where the 7 year old inside of you just wants to smile as you see a good portrayal of venom on screen wrecking people. The dynamic between Eddie Brock and Venom is phenomenal. Their banter was so fun to watch. Besides Tom Hardy, the rest of the cast felt bland compared to what they usually give for other movies. I didn't care about any of them. The plot was also not the greatest. You have seen this movie multiple times before but Tom Hardy definitely tries to save it. The action scenes are once again really fun to watch. Overall, this movie has a good amount of problems, but it was a better time than I would have imagined.

This movie was a generic and predictable mess. The performances were not very good, the plot was recycled from other movies and the action felt edited down from a R rating down to a PG-13 rating. Many moments in this movie did not make any sense. The CGI throughout especially the final battle was so bad it looked like a video game. Scenes in this movie also felt like they were carbon copies of scenes from better movies like Die Hard and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Overall, this was a disappointment considering that The Rock was alright in it.

Not The Season Finale I Was Expecting
1 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
To be honest, there were some alright episodes in this season especially episode 6, but this season finale just did not do it for me. The final battle was over in the first 20 minutes or so and the rest of it was just ending various character arcs. I would have been fine with an 80 minute episode 9 instead. By the end, I was left kinda surprised and disappointed with the choices they made here. Why would they give the fist to Colleen and why would Danny have gun fu if he doesn't have the fist? It's things like this that just leave me as shocked as I was with Luke Cage's season 2 finale. At this point, I'm kinda scared for Daredevil season 3.

Definitely A Step Up From Season 1
8 September 2018
I'm one of the people who didn't downright hate season 1. I thought it was alright. It had two stand out action scenes and a story just good enough to make me want to finish it. Season 2 strives to fix the mistakes of season 1 by improving the action scenes and by developing a more interesting Danny Rand. However, there are some scenes that just reminded me why I didn't like the first season. The Meechum family and Davos just aren't that interesting to me. I would rather see what Colleen and Danny are up to. The CGI also isn't good. At times, it looks cartoony and is reminiscent of Luke Cage's season 2 CGI. Overall, there were things to like and things to hate in this first episode and I really hope they keeep improving as the episodes go on.

My Favorite Movie Of The Year So Far!
8 September 2018
This was one of my most anticipated movies of the year because I love the Mission Impossible franchise, and Fallout did not disappoint. The action was brutal, the performances were entertaining and the story gave little room to breathe among all the action. My only problem with this movie were the twists. Some of them were obvious and some of them were not necessary. The set pieces were extremely enjoyable and proved to be some of the greatest action scenes of the year and maybe the decade.

Fun Movie But Could Have Been Better
12 August 2018
If you love Winnie the Pooh or grew up watching it, chances are you will like this film. It brings back the characters that you love from the hundred acre woods as well as Christopher Robin. The voice acting is amazing with veteran Jim Cummings on board voicing Pooh and Tigger. Ewan McGregor does a good job as Christopher Robin and carries the story along well enough. Seeing Pooh and the gang onscreen is magical and really sent me back to my childhood. However, this movie's biggest flaw is the pacing. The story takes a while to get started because it shows that Christopher's life is miserable and depressing since he's always focused on work. By the time it picks up, it's too little too late. The movie could have also used a little bit more humor to go against the dark and gloomy setting. Overall, this is a good movie with great Winnie the Pooh moments and a good performance from McGregor.

A Lot Better Than I Thought It Would Be
11 August 2018
Going into this movie I was worried. I grew up loving the 2003 Teen Titans show. I didn't care much about the Teen Titans Go! show but I decided to watch this movie because they said there would be a chance of a season 6 for the original Titans if this movie does well financially. After watching the movie, I was surprised by how funny and entertaining it was. The voice work is amazing with veterans from the shows and celebrity cameos. The animation is fun and colorful. The jokes were also really unique and creative. There were jokes that I didn't even know they could say in a DC movie. There was also a tribute to my favorite movie of all time, Back To The Future. There were also some original songs in this movie that caught me off guard and turned out to be pretty catchy. My one flaw with this movie was the twist in the movie. If you are a fan of the Teen Titans, then you can see the twist from miles away. I thought they could have changed a few things to avoid that. Overall, this is a fun movie with a good amount of laughs and is worth a watch if you love superhero movies.

A Great Season Finale And The Best Episode So Far
8 July 2018
What a season finale. This was a great episode in which all the characters' arcs were intertwined which made for some great intense scenes. The ending also didn't outright assume that there would be a second season. It resolved the story while leaving possibilities for a second season which we are getting. The performances have been top notch throughout the whole season with the standout being Jason Bateman. It has been an entertaining 10 hours of television and I can't wait for season 2 to come out.

7.5 Funny Movie With An Alright Plot
8 July 2018
The first Ant-Man was a pleasant surprise even though Edgar Wright left the project. It brought a unique experience to the MCU. This movie provides a welcome change of pace after the darker Infinty War. This was a movie that you could just sit back and enjoy. The action was fun and the humor felt natural. The story was where I had some issues. It takes a bit to get going because the film tries to catch you up with what everybody's been doing since the first Ant-Man. The ending had some problems too. It felt a little too perfect until the end credits. Ghost was an ok villain with a great performance. Sonny Burch however stood out in a bad way. There was really no arc for him. The wasp was a good complement to Ant-Man. The two worked well with each other with some great team up fights. I wish they could have used more of Scott's knowledge from his criminal days to aid in the mission. Scott being an ex criminal made him unique from the other heroes. The Three Wombats were still the standout characters just like the first one. They made for some entertaining and funny scenes. Overall, the movie is a fun time and I can't wait to see it again on Blu-Ray.

A Fun Sequel With A Few Problems
3 July 2018
I was excited to watch this movie as soon as I finished watching the first one in 2016. This movie was entertaining but it didn't come without its flaws. The performances were really fun to watch. Morena Baccarin, however, didn't have much to do which was disappointing because she was a good character in the first one. The jokes were really funny throughout. The action was fun and violent. The cgi can be a little iffy sometimes but you won't pay too much attention to it as you're laughing at the jokes. The movie sometimes goes with a joke instead of having a cool or emotional moment which is a bummer. But overall it is a funny film that fans of the first one will probably enjoy.

A Fun Time With Good Laughs
2 July 2018
Watching the trailer for this movie, I was excited because of its A-List cast and its fun plot. Coming out of the actual movie, I was pleasantly surprised. It happened to be better than I thought it would be. The cast plays off each other really well and that made for some great gags. However, the actresses in this movie don't have much to do. They have a few jokes here and there but they don't do much for the actual plot. The first two acts are really entertaining with some really funny moments. But, the third act for me wasn't as funny as the first two. By the end, it gets better with its touching ending. The actual tag scenes were fun and reminded me of the fight scenes in RDJ's Sherlock Holmes movies. One last problem I had was at times it can be predictable.

A Really Bad Way to End An Already Mediocre Season
25 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Season 2 has its lows and highs but this episode was definitely the lowest. This is supposed to be the finale of the last 12 hours of entertainment but it comes off like it just betrays everything that was built up. The fact that Luke Cage ends up running Harlem's Paradise is totally against his character even with the reasons they give us. Bushmaster, the MAIN villain, is still out there and he is barely in the season finale. Mariah dying doesn't help either because she was a complex character that was almost like a Joker to Luke Cage. Overall, this was the worst season finale to a Marvel Netflix show so far.

Fine Installment In The Ocean's Franchise
24 June 2018
Ocean's Eight is filled with great performances that will keep you entertained throughout the whole movie. They all had their moment to shine. The story, however, is very similar to Ocean's Eleven to the point where you can predict everything that's going to happen. I would have liked a few more hiccups during the heist to keep the viewer on the edge of their seat. Overall, the heist was fun to watch and there are enough cameos to keep your eyes glued to the screeen.

"Incredible Sequel"
24 June 2018
The 14 year wait was worth it. I was thoroughly entertained for the entire runtime. The characters are what we remembered them to be, the action was fun and the plot was entertaining. Adding more supers to the movie allowed for some unique fight scenes and new story arcs. The Screenslaver was a good villain who was menacing enough with good reasons for being evil. However I wish the Screenslaver would have done a little more during the action scenes but I'm fine with what they did. I also would have liked them to play with our emotions a bit more during the 3rd act. The music was as good as the original and the ending was really satisfying.
