Encanto (2021)
It's very pretty but just mediocre
This was a really gorgeous movie, but the songs just fly by. Its the fastest slow movie I've ever seen. It's a lot of noise. The subject matter is oddly heavy and not presented well for a family audience and it's just not really fun. Did everyone miss the fact that uncle Bruno's made up mouse telenovela has a nephew dating his aunt?? This is definitely a one and done watch.
Bad Candy (2020)
You don't need to bother....
It's not coherent with a very confusing wrap around in another wrap around that almost made this movie worth it. There was just too many stories, too many things not being tied together.
Candyman (2021)
Worth a watch
Not a perfect movie, the ending feels like a scene was missing and it was put together quickly. But, it's still worth a watch. Reminded me of the shining with how specific colors were used in each scene throughout the movie. I feel bad for the other reviewers who missed the memo on what the first movie was about, and how, fast forward, racial injustice still exists in the community and around the community. Interesting progression of the story, told from the perspective of people of color. Subtle horror, decent gore, a little in your face with the cops but that's to be expected with this story. It's a time capsule for today, it's relevant; it's not just a slasher...which seems like what a lot of people expected.
Malignant (2021)
I've seen this before..
It's just basket case in HD. Thought this looked kinda cool.. but it's 20 minutes too long and doesn't have a clear tone.
Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (2021)
Can we have a normal length documentary??
I watched this to see how they put all the facts together on this weird case we've all read about. We get a 4 part series with self indulgent "web sleuths" speculating on a case they only had partial facts on. It shows how dangerous the internet and conspiracies can be once you finally get to the end of this. I miss watching a 90 minute documentary that has all the facts put neatly together in order to educate the audience. This is really about an investigation, mental illness, public entitlement, web bullying and a creepy dental student who's obviously not going to be a dentist.
The Call (2020)
Uhhh
Waste of time. The teen acting is terrible and annoying, the stories are forced, it doesn't make sense..there's nothing entertaining about this. The throwback element fails, and doesn't add anything to the story.
The Grudge (2019)
What??
Poorly paced. Not even comparing it to the other grudge movies...just movies in general. It almost feels like a cheesy made for TV movie. Any tension that's built is immediately cut by jumping to the next scene. There's plenty of other new horror movies out there with new stories to tell. Don't waste your time with this.
Saturday Night Live (1975)
Who is this for?
I know the show has gone through dull periods but this is just painful. I don't know who this humor is for. It's bland with redundant skits, and one too many variety show musical skits.
Gretel & Hansel (2020)
Lackluster
So disappointed, visually engaging but the story is flat.
Downrange (2017)
Annoying
This movie prompted me to create and account to just say, pass.
It seemed familiar, almost like it's very loosely based on the Hungerford Massacre.
Each scene was more ridiculous than the last with a predictable ending. As a horror fan I know we get hit with some lackluster movies, this is definitely one of them.
