Aladdin (2019)

Best live action Disney flick yet?!
9 July 2019
I wasn't even going to see this movie, because I didn't love Aladdin as a kid. But this surprised me, it was literally, a "magic carpet ride"! Jasmine's new song 'Speechless' is the best original song, and could arguably be better than 'a whole new world'. Naomi Scott as Jasmine is just amazing and her great singing is just the cherry on top. All things considered, this is a magical movie and would definitely watch again!

Not Very Plot-Driven, but a nice addition to the Conjuring-verse
9 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
James Wan really is a master of horror, the scares are so innovative and scary.

Personally, the Samurai Armour didn't do it for me, neither did the murder TV nor the board game, but it was creative as hell.

They upped the CGI quality in this movie compared to any previous Conjuring movies, I'm positive that the Hell-hound and the Annabelle Demon (Who still doesn't have a name) are completely CG.

I feel like the Coin man almost out shines Annabelle in this, he was effectively scary, along with that god damned Monkey toy.

The Wedding dress around the room scene was a great callback to Valek, and the Annabelle doll shadow shot was really great too.

The movie is well-paced, character arcs are present, but admittedly simple at most, though I appreciate there even existed arcs(sort of?) for the three characters.

This movie build up Annabelle as "the worst" out of all the dangerous monsters, but I felt it fail to show that, and failed to show the relationships between it and the other cursed objects. How it affects them. The horror for Valek was good mostly, because he was actually really powerful, evil, manipulative, and we see it. He was the profane, the Marque of Snakes, Valek. In the Nun, Valek had a theme, you could hear the evil. But with Annabelle, you never know what's her doing and what's not, no themes, no indication, all she does is sit on chairs and closes doors. In previous Annabelle movies, the demon needs a sacrifice to get the souls, but in this he just shows up and suck your soul away? Wtf? Admittedly, this Annabelle is better than the first but wasn't as present and horrifying compared to Annabelle origins.

Simple Premise, Great Movie
9 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The horror scenes were masterfully done, the music and everything. The vibe it creates is terrifying!! The acting is phenomenal. Unfortunately, some gory scenes were cut from the final product, but it was great nonetheless. P.S. Didn't expect Bad Guy to come on, so it was a great surprised

I Loved how weird it is....?
9 July 2019
This movie is really... special, everything from the rewind-format, the plot, the characters... all very.. uncommon. But to be honest, forget the plot-holes, I personally loved how funky and weird this is.

Really well done
9 July 2019
Great commitment on the director's part, though for non-fluent English speakers, its quite hard to decipher. Otherwise, the movie is great, the music in particular.

Really Well Done
9 July 2019
I will say this, its more of a social commentary than a horror movie. Everything so compact, well-written. The allegories and symbolism are so well-thought-out.

Actually Scary and Actually Depressing.
14 April 2019
Unlike the jump scare filled modern horror genre, Pet Semetary was genuinely scary, albeit purely visual. The focus was still on how people deal with loss, and the whole movie is a big analogy for that. Overall, kind of wished those creepy masks would play more of an important role than just visual, but it was a goid movie nonetheless.

It's meh.

Warning: Spoilers
Better than I expected. Note that I had zero to begin with. Probably equivalent to Dr.Strange or Thor 1 in MCU terms. They tried so hard to make Captain Marvel important, and the power scale is all messed up in this, couple of feminism(anti-men) moments sprinkled throughout, makes this an absolute crap movie. Though Fury and Goose was charming, and the twist for the Skrulls were cool. But overall it lacked heart in the plot, Carol was hella boring and generic. Btw.. She was blasted with a engine pre-charged by the Space Stone, becoming the most powerful in MCU, whereas Vision literally has an infinity stone in his head, Strange with the Time Stone, and Scarlet Witch channelling the energy of infinity stones, all that.. Still no match to the might of feminism powering Captain Marvel.

Shazam! (2019)

Movie full of heart! Solid.
14 April 2019
Shazam has a great plot, well-written, with great actors. The only two complaints I have are that this movie was cut weirdly, and that it wasn't released during Christmas. Dr. Savanna wasn't anything to write home about, but the seven deadly sins looked really cool. The character arc between Billy and the family is amazing. So yeah, watch it!

Good See it! Great adaptation of the original!
6 February 2019
If you enjoy a sci-fi anime-like movie, this is it. This movie is basically a origin story based on its original anime, it has a very strong anime feel to it, the designs are amazing, the places, people.. All masterfully CGI-ed. The acting is solid. The story could be a bit slow at first where thats to be accepted as it was a manga, but every moment feels magical and badass! If you just want a good time with some awesome effects and action, then watch this movie!

Best adaptaion of Wonderwoman.
26 January 2019
Gal Gadot is the perfect actress for this role, the movie is well paced, with a well composed theme song. Eventhough they greatly nerfed her character power, the movie has thrilling action and the Amazonian goddess is well represented. Though I admit, it was still a little to groomy and dark for the tone for my taste. Generally, a very safe movie if you just want to enjoy something.

Not strange enough, Dr. Strange.
25 January 2019
For a Marvel film, this is one of the weaker ones. Both Benedicts are great actors, the visuals are also great (though not as colourful as I would've liked) but the problem lies with the story... The plot is not even bad, but it wants to do funny; it wants to do strange; it wants to explore the characters in an emotional level; it wants to have a theme of "time"...... But none of them are done well. Personally, I would've liked a stranger movie with even weirder effects including a consistent theme with "time". And showcase how much more of a human training in the mystic arts has made him.

Mars Cast Away?
25 January 2019
Great character arc, solid story, simple setting, good acting. Overall solid movie with some "Cast Away" vibes and will have you on the edge of the seat. (Though just from watching the trailer, I kind of thought that there would be aliens) Realistic sci-fi are quite rare these days, so the visuals and color in this movie seem new and unique. A movie that everyone can enjoy.

Wasn't bad, but not what people want.
25 January 2019
The story is acceptable with a lot of prolonged and unneeded scenes in the first half, which causes the second half to fall short and too quick. Also, too many arcs, especially when these arcs aren't great to begin with. Acting is not bad, but the movie overall just seems like a mess. The movie is ok in most aspect, but It's just not what people wanted from Starwars. The box office has been severely affected by the "Starwars boycott" but despite this, a story about Han Solo is still not what people wanted. If you want to turn off your brain and watch something visually stunning, then it's a very good movie.

Not too scary, but Amazing!
18 January 2019
"Stranger Things" vibes, set in the same period of 1980s, "IT" is amazing paced, written, styled. Pennywise is a lot creepier looking than any other clown whose terrorized the silver screen, it almost has a mythical aspect to his character. The tone is very consistent as the main characters are teenagers masterfully portrayed by these kid actors. Iconic moments from the original TV spot and the book was recreated in a creative way, and gives "Pennywise the dancing clown" a whole new meaning!

Promising start of a new era!
18 January 2019
The movie is magical, effects, designs are very well done, nostalgic atmosphere from the best Harry Potter films. The story has some twists and turns, but it does suffers from some pacing problems. Overall, a good introduction to these new characters!

Did not Disappoint!
18 January 2019
To be honest, with 10 years worth of movies backing this movie, it makes it hard for newcomers if this was your first movie, but the Russos did an amazing job on this movie "yes it works!" Amazing color, actors, story(though doesn't follow the Infinity Gauntlet comics at all), design, BGM. Every scene in this movie screams "epic" ! Nuff said. Pretty sure everyone has seen it by now...

Venom (2018)
7/10
Insanely FUN, but don't think too much about it.
18 January 2019
Though I admit Venom comes in later than I would've expected, after it happens, the fun begins. Story-wise, there are some flaws if you really think about it, but it is dwarfed by the fun action on screen. Tom Hardy did his best, but the way the film was developed caused it to have significant tonal differences throughout the movie, the comedy in this movie is not evenly spread( the first half is completely different from the rest) Overall, if you want a movie with Venom(at least the one from Comics) this is by far the closest it'll get. (For a film bound to get a sequel, I'm surprised that symbiotes like Scream didn't make it)

Good, but not as good as the last one.
18 January 2019
Compared to the last one, this one has more characters, which includes characters from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and StarWars. And a lot more meta jokes relating to the real-life internet. Unfortunately, the writing is not as good as the last one, the motive and the logic to each character doing specific things are not clear, weird pacing throughout the movie and the main falling out between main characters is dumb and forced. There are moments that is supposed to be touching, but the lack of story prevents it from actually being touching. Nevertheless, it is a fun and enjoyable movie with some cameos and lots of references, so pay attention to everything.

Best Transformers movie in the span of 6 movies
15 January 2019
I cannot believe how grounded this Transformers movie is, for once, it's not about saving the planet from other Transformers, and for once, it's not handled by Michael Bay. This movie is basically about a teenager dealing with family issues with Bumblebee in it, the leading character is not out-shined by the Transformers, plus a lot of stuff that she goes through is very relatable. The designs of Bumblebee, Optimus, Soundwave and Shockwave has a hint of nostalgia to it. The actors are very good, especially Hailee Steinfeld (She also did the credit song "Back to life"). This is the best Transformers movie hands down, can all the movies prior to this be non- canon please?

Aquaman (2018)

DC rebirth, literally.
15 January 2019
First of all, nice casting choice, no one could've made Aquaman cooler than Jason Mamoa and Mera sexier than Amber Heard (Patrick Wilson is here! are you surprised? It's a James Wan movie) Nice use of comedy though it's only worth a chuckle. The story is safe but solid, nothing unexpected but nothing horrible and quite touching to be honest. The effects are great, if you'd seen the first trailer, the effects were only tolerable, but now with the effects all done, it is enchanting! The colors are very vibrant (DC is taking notes from Marvel) and everything just looked beautiful. The credit song "Everything you are" by Skylar Grey is very good. (so good that I sat through all the credits)

Best Spider-man movie, perhaps even best Superhero movie
15 January 2019
This movie just felt like our favorite wall-crawler more than any other adaptations, it captured the essence of Spider-man. With the help of the unique animation style and over-exaggerated character design, it created a Spider-verse that truly feels genuine, lived in. Voice acting and background music was very well handled, there are a couple scenes that actually got me to tear up (which I never do) The Easter-eggs are fun and a lot of things you will miss, if you know your comics, then you will be rewarded with a lot of references. The credit scene is magical and the end-credit scene is ten out of ten. Soundtrack is great, not to mention the writing, able to present so much obstacle and so many things changed because of these obstacles, connecting or reference back to scenes or things that specific character did earlier in the film.
