Ambulance (2022)
Good fun!
Yes it's a little silly at times and I could do without some of the elaborate drone-ride footage but basically this is a old-fashioned loud and intense action movie and I quite enjoyed watching it.
Lust (2022)
A very Swedish comedy show!
A nice attempt by HBO Max to make a traditional swedish comedy show based on awkward situations, social inabilities and typical Swedish reluctance of conflicts. It balances between funny and embarassing in a deliberately provocative Way. To a swedish viewer this is nothing new but I can understand that it's a very different experience for an american viewer. The actresses are some of the most acclaimed and experienced ones in Sweden and I think their performances are mostly solid. Overall I had a good time watching it.
Belfast (2021)
A tribute for what its worth
It's a beautiful, heartwarming, romantizised and slightly stereotypical film. A feelgood story about people living in chaotic but hopeful times. Seeing pictures of people in Ukraine suffer the horror of war everyday makes the experience of Belfast seem a little shallow and naive.
Vikings: Valhalla (2022)
Netflix just can't get it right
With a few exceptions Netflix original series and movies are sloppy, rushed, and non-realistic productions and I can't believe why people bother to watch them. Vikings (History channel) got a lot of well deserved criticism for it's historical inaccuracy and uneven quality but this Netflix production sets a new low standard for it's genre. Hopefully Northman (in theatres mid April) will be worth the wait and provide both entertainment and authenticity!
Grace (2021)
Pun intended?
A decent and watchable british crime movie/series. A funny detail is that one of the murderer's sir name is D'eath which none of the characters seems to notice or reflect on!
Hawkeye (2021)
Is this supposed to be funny?
Am I watching a 90's low budget series? Script, jokes, dialogue is really disappointing. Action scenes are decent at best but few and far between. Lots of cheap looking green screen effects. Even the music score is mediocre.
Eternals (2021)
Just way too long!
As expected it's visually spectacular with great CGI and photography. Acting is mostly good and the story is actually not so bad but this should never have been a 2.35 hour movie. I don't mind a slow paced movie that builds up towards the end but so many scenes are there seemimgly without a purpose or could at least have been cut in half. Too bad because this could have been a pretty good movie if the story had been told differently and in a more suspensfull manor.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Could have been good!
Interesting concept but I just don't get why many of the (adult) characters in the Corean shows/movies I've seen act like one-dimensional, overdramatic, yelling twelve year olds? It makes it hard to take the story seriously and even more difficult to empathize with most of the characters.
It's a cultural thing I guess but It's hard to get used to or appreciate.
HoYeon Jung is an amazing actress though!
Scenes from a Marriage (2021)
Amazing
Finally a show about real people with real problems! Wonderfully written, fantastic acting and directing. Why make dozens of silly fantasy/sci-fi/superhero productions when we could be watching series/movies like this.
Mare of Easttown (2021)
Good but not that special
This series is nicely written albeit often being relatively predictable. It has mostly good and sometimes great acting however it's not really a great show. There are dozens of british or Scandinavian crime series that is just as good or even better. I suspect the reason this show has been getting so much praise is that there is simply not that many quality shows premiering this spring/summer on the major streaming services. So do see it but don't expect to be blown away!
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Mindblowingly stupid
The movie is a complete joke. The eighties tribute is a nice touch but the rest is just rubbish!
X&Y (2018)
Anna Odell is a genious!
Fascinating film, interesting concept and great acting!
Raised by Wolves (2020)
Well made but rather tedious
The androids have more personality than the humans - although not a lot!
Mulan (2020)
Just awful
The script is just silly, characters are stereotypical and one-dimensional, acting is poor and even the action scenes are merely decent at best. Luckily I was able to watch it for free, I feel sorry for anyone who spent $25 ok this mediocre movie.
Gangs of London (2020)
Could have been great
I have no problem with blood and gore but the excessive and unrealistic violence adds a comic effect that makes the story and the characters less interesting. Less is more is also true in this case.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Overhyped
Not bad but nothing special! Baby Yoda steals the show but the other characters are one-dimensional and frankly quite dull. Visually it's surprisingly uneven and some scenes and cgi are certainly not up to date. The music score by Ludwig Göransson is (as always) brilliant though.
Tenet (2020)
Brilliant action movie!
Compared to Nolans earlier films this one is actually pretty straight forward. The inversion concept is easy to grasp and doesn't affect the pace of the movie which is furious and intense. Direction, acting, scenography, photography and musical score is top notch but first and foremost it's a thrilling and entertaining experience not to be missed!
The Old Guard (2020)
Stupid movie
Somehow Netflix just can't make a good movie, Roma being the only exception. This is just a mess and a complete waste of time.
The Outpost (2019)
It's ok but...
I guess you could say it's realistic but how is it possible to place the outpost on a location like that? Also, organization and preparation in the camp seemed to be surprizingly poor, compare to what you would expect from US forces. Probably, the real troops acted more professionally in a extremely difficult situation than the characters in the movie who seem to rely more on luck than training.
Greyhound (2020)
Decent movie but poor CGI
Usually Hollywood blockbuster movies offer great visual effects but often falls short in terms of script, acting etc. Greyhound is quite the opposite and it's hard to understand why the cgi isn't up to par in a major 90 min (!!!) feature film.
The Stranger (2020)
What a mess!
The first episode is decent and a little bit intriguing but it all goes downhill after that.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
Zzzzzzzzz
I guess You have to give credit to all the work they put in making the action scenes but as a whole, just a boring stupid movie that should never have been made.
Captain Marvel (2019)
Good movie - great actors
I saw it at the Swedish premiere on the 6th of march. It's a warm funny movie with some truly great action sequenses. Brie Larson does a great job and it's great fun to see a young Nick Fury played by a digitally de-aged Sam Jackson! It's not the best MCU-movie but I would rank it in the top 5-6. I do have a hard time with the Alien lizard characters but i guess it's something You just have to accept as a part of MCU. Finally, if You really are a Marvel fan - You can't miss it because of the important information You get heading up to End Game!
