Bullet Train (2022)
So much fun.
This film is an absolute blast from start to finish.
As soon as the film starts and you hear that soundtrack begin, you get the feel of the world around the characters, this helps set the tone of the rest of the film as a fun, yet sometimes tense action film!
The characters in this film were great to follow, my favourites being Ladybug, Lemon and Tangerine.
The Ryan Reynolds cameo as Carver was funny too, I laughed at that!
Brad Pitt was great as Ladybug and had a very nuanced and full of life performance that was able to carry the comedy needed for his character!
Brian Tyree Henry was great as Lemon, his Thomas references made me laugh every time he brought them up and his chemistry with Aaron Taylor Johnson (Tangerine) was bloody brilliant, it felt real and it was hilarious to watch them go about the scenario on the train.
Aaron Taylor Johnson was so funny to watch too in this role, he played it so well!
This film had a good way of making us care for the characters so when things were getting intense, the audience felt a sense of urgency to try and protect the characters they became attached to. This was most notable when Lemons "death" happened, I was actually pretty sad because he was so fun to watch, then again when it happened to Tangerine. The brotherly connection between Lemon & Tangerine was a big part in the playing of emotions too. Also the reveal of Prince being the daughter of White Death was not one that I saw coming.
The set design was also really cool, I loved that basically the whole film took place on this train, it felt original and I loved it. The Japanese atmosphere and fights were amazing to look at too!
I wasn't expecting the action to be as fun to watch as it was either, there was some really cool fight scenes in this movie and it was pretty well shot.
Overall I went into this film just expecting a generic action comedy that would maybe get a couple laughs from me but I was pleasantly surprised, I loved this film and had such a great time with it! It was so hilarious and genuinely made me laugh so much! I will be buying this when it releases and I might watch it again in cinema! One of my favourites this year!
8.5/10

The King of Comedy (1982)
"Better to be King for a night, than schmuck for a lifetime."
This film is a great psychological look into para-sociality and the uncomfortable nature and isolating issues that follow it. The issues displayed in this film have aged into a time where celebrity culture is at its peak, making the themes of this film hit deeper and make us as an audience re-evaluate the societal norms surrounding said celebrities.
Robert De Niro absolutely smashes it as Rupert Pupkin in this film and convincingly delivers an amazing performance as the crazed lunatic, he was very uncomfortable to watch, even in scenes where he wasn't drastically threatening someone, just his mannerisms were creepy. It made you really feel how alone yet crazed this character is.
Martin Scorsese's directing in this picture was amazing too, while I don't think this is his best from what I've seen, it's still pretty great!
I did have to pause the film for 20 minutes around the 01:18:00 mark due to it being 2am and myself being ridiculously tired but I still managed to appreciate the rest of the film.
Rupert's final conclusion was also mind boggling, someone as clearly crazed as himself, gets praised by the public and becomes a popular figure in the show-biz industry after his release from prison. This itself works as a demonstration of the society around us and some of its issues. I thought the ending was done brilliantly though, showing that Rupert really did win in the end.
Jerry Lewis was also good as Jerry Langford, the paranoid yet stoic TV Host!
Overall I think this was a pretty great movie! Not Scorsese's best but still pretty good! I'm excited to watch more Rob De Niro & Scorsese, they work very well together!
8/10
84/100.
Nightcrawler (2014)
Eerie.
Pretty solid movie. I went into it with pretty high expectations and I was mostly satisfied! Great performances all round, especially from Jake Gyllenhaal as Lou and Riz Ahmed as Rick. As the film progressed, I sort of mapped out Lou's progression into the madness and knew what was coming so I found that the final act held some pieces of predictability within it, such as Ricks death. Another thing I really enjoyed in this film was the Night life atmosphere that was created, and many of the scenes benefited from the lighting during the night to make parts of this film very eerie. The music was also pretty good as setting the tones and of the film building tension in scenes!
Overall I enjoyed this movie but not quite as much as some other people have claimed to, but it's still pretty great!
8.5/10!
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Like looking through a glass pane into the 60s.
What a film.
This film managed to meticulously bring to life many fantastic characters, two of those being Rick Dalton ( Leonardo DiCaprio) and Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt).
Both of these characters were amazing to just watch and observe their lives and both actors played their roles to absolute perfection.
My favourite character to watch was probably Cliff Booth as he was just so fun and even in the eerie situation of the Hollywood Cult, he still manages to be a sort of badass funny guy.
Leo was also absolutely amazing as Rick Dalton, the scenes where he was on set playing Caleb DeCoteau, genuinely made my eyes tear up when the little girl was speaking to him about his novel and he started to break down. Fantastic acting from both of them in that scene!
This is also my first Tarantino Film that I've watched and I loved it! I noted the excessive amount of people not wearing shoes though.
Margot Robbie wasn't in this film as much as the promotion would lead you to believe but when she was, she was really great. She captured Sharon's friendly essence perfectly and it was beautiful.
I loved this film all throughout because it was a great window into the era of the 60s and the lives of the people who lived it, and were involved in Hollywood during that time, which I find particularly interesting! But as much as I loved the film, I couldn't watch during some of the final scenes, because I was wondering how it would play out since I already know the real tragedy that occurred in August on 69', but this film took the real events and spun them on its head, crafting a very vicious and hostile yet satisfactory scene where the Cult Members get hell delivered to them.
The cult members were also creepy all throughout their screen time, putting me on edge and even at the end making me cover the screen and turn my volume down because the tension was too much, Austin Butler was the standout as Tex, he was just so unsettling, he's becoming a real star recently and I'm glad!
It was also really cool to see Bruce Lee show up in a couple of scenes! That built the immersion of the time period some more!
That final scene with Rick going up to meet Jay Sebring and Sharon Tate also made me teary eyed after knowing what happened in reality. What an ending.
Overall I loved this film and thought that every actor in it played their roles to perfection (including Brandy!) and I can't wait to rewatch it! This also makes me excited to see more from Tarantino!
10/10!
Fight Club (1999)
"You do not talk about Fight Club."
This movie was very trippy, yet very fun! David Fincher is one of my favourite directors and this film continues to prove why.
I went into this film already knowing the big twist but in a way that kind of lent itself to more enjoyment as I got to see certain nuances from different actors and characters, especially in scenes where Tyler (Brad) was the focus, such as Marla who was confused and harrowed in many scenes and since I knew the twist, it was nice to know the reasoning. The way the movie deals with the twist was brilliant in my opinion, although the ending did go a little fast, but it was still great! Speaking of that ending, what the hell. That was very bold and I loved it. Brad Pitt was amazingly fun in this movie, I loved his character everytime he was on screen, such a good antagonist. As for Ed Norton, I thought he was also pretty great in the role of a confused man, knowing he's losing himself yet still clinging on to any familiarity he can keep his grasp on.
Overall I thought the direction was great, as was the nuanced acting from the main two leads!
9/10!
Whiplash (2014)
"Not quite my tempo."
This film is a cautionary tale of the path to success and the extremities that come with it. J. K Simmons & Miles Teller were both amazing in this film and the direction from Damien Chazelle was also great! The portrayal of Fletcher by J. K Simmons was so ruthless and made me hate him, and then in the third act the movie made me see where he was coming from and I hated the fact I was agreeing with him. The determination throughout from Andrew was great and I loved that ending but also felt Fletcher should've taken a loss at some point.
Overall very great movie!
9/10!
Edit:
The more I think about this movie, the more I love it. I'm bumping my score up to 9.5/10!
The soundtrack bangs too!
Free Guy (2021)
Such a fun movie!
Such a fun movie! Ryan Reynolds is great as Guy in this "Truman Show meets Video Games" transfusion. I had such a good time with this movie and thought it was hilarious. I loved seeing the Disney references show up too, my favourite part of the movie being Chris Evans' cameo! I also loved the inclusion of real life YouTubers and Streamers, it really helped in the immersion of this movie, especially considering I watch a lot of those people!
Loved the movie! Overall 8/10!
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
I loved this movie.
I loved this movie.
Mandarin
I thought it was great getting to see the Mandarin after the Iron Man 3 portrayal and even seeing Trevor Slattery return was one of my favourite moments in Recent MCU. Tony Leung was incredible as Wenwu and delivered a compelling performance, he brought the emotional, yet unsettling character to life so well, he was amazing!
Shang-Chi
You can really tell when an actor is passionate about a role, and this is one of these times. Simu Liu is so passionate about this character and it really pays off. He brings a great performance, some of my favourite scenes are with him and Wenwu (Tony Leung) having an emotional mental battle. He was great!
Katy Awkwafina usually annoys me in movies, but not so much in this one. She is actually quite funny a lot of the time (apart from the forced MCU humour) and delivered a good sidekick performance!
Trevor Slattery
I loved having Trevor back. He was hilarious in this movie, and I love Ben Kingsleys portrayal of this character.
Xialing
I thought she was pretty cool, it's cool to see what's happening with her going forward.
Overall just a great movie, the colour grading in this movie is gorgeous too! The choreography is the best we've seen in the MCU thanks to Brad Simpson (RIP) and really feels authentic to the old Jackie movies. I absolutely loved the Chinese culture in this movie, it was amazing to see it all, especially the dragons. The music was also incredible, might be my favourite MCU score!
Overall 9/10!
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Even More Iconic! 8.2/10!
Even more iconic. 8.2/10 Molina is a standout in this movie. He is great! I'm excited, but worried for his return in No Way Home.
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
Wow. Just wow.
Wow. This movie is incredible. Leonardo DiCaprio is incredible and I can't wait to watch more of him! He absolutely embodies the role of Jordan and I lose myself in his performance! Outstanding acting!
Scorsese's directing is impeccable (like always) so there's that to enjoy.
Margot Robbie was amazing as Naomi! (Nadine) She played the part perfectly. Margot will always be my favourite actress but I loved her in this!
I surprisingly never found Jonah Hill annoying in this movie (I always do!) he also did a great job on the role of Donnie!
I've been interested in Jordans story for years but to finally see the whole movie was incredible.
Once again the acting is incredible! Such an interesting story too! Overall 9/10! Fantastic!
Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
This is just a fun, goofy, fan service overloaded movie!
This movie is everything I expected it to be. A fan servicey, silly, fun movie. And it was just that.
The opening did surprisingly get me invested in this movie. I like the cameos in this too!
I feel like zendaya wasn't the best choice for Lola (still love her tho!)
You can tell Don Cheadle was having so much fun with this role and it pays off. He's great!
Lebron is feels a bit choppy but it's because he ain't an actor so I can't really complain.
All the other voice acting in this movie is great!
All round, this is just a fun, goofy, feel good, fan service overloaded movie! 6/10.
Justice League (2017)
Wasted potential! 5.5/10!
Where do I begin... This movie did very few things right, but when it did those things right, it wasn't nearly for long enough. It was very clear to me that they had to shoehorn in Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg, they didn't even have a background that the audience could acknowledge, they just felt flat. For example, in the scene when Viktors leg got ripped off by Steppenwolf, I didn't really care because this movie had failed to make me care for the characters. Viktor was my favourite character in this movie and that's why I'm dissatisfied with what he was given to do in this. Also, Ezra Miller as The Flash was just annoying, his humour was so forced and it felt like they were trying to make him the DCEUs Peter Parker.
I also didn't care about Steppenwolf acquiring the Mother Boxes which pales in comparison to Thanos' acquisition of the Infinity Stones. I also disliked how we didn't even see Darkseid.
Another thing I don't get is that why Viktor has a whole 180° spin on his personality half way through the movie.
Bruce feels so stale in this movie and I don't know why, I can't explain it, he just feels weird.
Barry just had no substance to him and unfunny, forced humour.
The pacing in this movie is so bizarre. It will go from really fast action, to talking about brunch. It's really strange. The 2 hours felt longer than it was.
I thought the scene of Bruce and Diana speaking alone was alright, it actually made me kind of invest in the story, for about 3 minutes.
Superman feels like a very pointless character in this story, he just does nothing apart from fight, they use him as a sort of cheat code at the end and it's annoying because it feels like a waste of time.
On a positive note, I feel like the casting is great! Maybe apart from Ezra Miller, I'm still unsure! I really like J. K Simmons as Jim Gordon, I just wish we'd seen more of him!
Overall, this movie is messy, it is very clear that there was a change in direction and that they should've introduced the Flash, Aquaman and Viktor beforehand, they feel so odd. This movie just made me excited to watch the Snyder Cut which I'll be watching soon! Overall I'll give this movie a very generous 5.5/10!
Wonder Woman (2017)
Wow. What a movie!
Wow, what an amazing movie! I loved it! Gal and Chris' chemistry was amazing, also I really enjoyed the side characters because they actually feel real. The cinematography in this movie is amazing, likewise with the colour grading. The score in this movie is great too! 9/10!
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
Wow. Great movie.
Wow. Damn great movie. 8/10. I never thought I'd say this but I loved Ben Afflecks performance! Cavill was great too! Dark, gritty, everything I expected, and more!
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
Awesome conclusion.
Love that ending. Chills. Bale is great. Caine is great. Nolan is amazing as always. But my god I have no idea what Bane was saying.
Man of Steel (2013)
Fun!
Awesome, fun movie! A bit slow during the middle act but it picks up the pace leading into the 3rd act! 7.5/10!
Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)
Incredible movie.
Love this! 8.5/10! So funny too! Taron is great! (like always)
Elf (2003)
my favourite christmas movie!
It's one of my favourite christmas movies ever! it's good, watch it
Atlanta (2016)
AMAZING!
Donald Glover is a genius! BTH is amazing and this show is incredible, dark, funny and real! 10/10
The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)
Will Smith is amazing!
Incredible movie, emotional and a must watch, 10/10!
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
MAGNIFICO!
Bohemian rhapsody was amazing. It contained true (and false) facts about queen. The only problem is that they exaggerated things a bit and the time of some things are wrong but it's still amazing. The live Aid sequence is the exact same as the original. 10/10
