Love & Death (2023)
Premise stolen from Candy
Jessica Beal was in a TV series partly about infidelity (candy) and yes....they used it for this show....eerily close..I find it infuriating that Hollywood can't present new storylines.....it shouldn't be that hard, and concodering that it's Apple TV, which has the budget! To be honest it's a bit insulting that the viewers wouldn't pick up on It! I don't slight on the actors/actresses, they are all top notch coming from great series such as Fargo, American Hororr Story, Jessica Jones, Ozark and Banshee....but to use another series premise is of bad taste.... I'm sure it could have been done much better!
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)
Please let this be the nail that kills the Marvel nonsense
I rarely write reviews..but this movie deserves a mention. I liked the marvel movies...when they were novel, but they quickly ran out of steam and with that the endless predictable one liners and pointless plots became so boring that I stopped watching...I'll admit, I though this movie would be so dumbed down and follow in the footsteps of the Marvel recipe that I contemplated not watching...glad I did because THIS is the answer to the stagnant commercial material that the marvel franchise has become! Nothing was done over the top, comedy was relatable and smart, cast complemented each other brilliantly and plot was engaging!
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Wow
The only impressive thing about this movie is how ripped JK looks.
The Beach Bum (2019)
And he slips back in his old ways
This film is beneath him, and I say that because I've seen what he is capable of and this is sophomoric! Please please Mr. McConaughey don't continue on this path..it might seem like careless fun, but you are seriously making yourself a cautionary tale on whatever YouTube channel that publishes "why Hollywood doesn't cast Matthew McConaughey anymore". And I would truly hate that, seeing how immensely talented you truly are!
Fleabag (2016)
Heart on your sleeve
Never have I seen a show that is so ruthlessly honest about emotion, all the ups and downs..laughs and tears. I'm truly sad that this show ends at 2 seasons because it was/is the most honest portrayal of human emotions I've ever experienced in half an hour segments!
American Gods (2017)
Hard one to review when you haven't read the source material
I'll say this much (and it's purely based on the first season) it's slow! But I'm hoping that it picks up for a third season..again, haven't read the book so I'm not/can not judge the series on that! If it is being politicized; boo...but if it's not..equally boo to the reviews that make it out to be that! Guess I have some reading to do..but it is still entertaining..even though this season is more of a builder.
Sex Education (2019)
Just wow
I could go on about how the script is tighter than a Senegalese drum...or how the actors are succinct it puts most shows to shame! This is a great coming of age TV show (regardless of where you might have fallen on the spectrum). Amazing direction, which is obvious in how good the cast mesh together & the camera work that makes the TV show feel like a long, but incredible movie! Do you're selves a favour and just watch!
Ed Stafford: First Man Out (2019)
Love Ed...but this is unwatchable
Ed is an amazing host for these kind of survival shows..but this show is so staged that it literally take away any sense of urgency and believability. I've seen sitcom's that felt less scripted, and that's sad because the subject maker is really interesting..but without the "reality" aspect, they're just isn't any substance whatsoever!
The Deuce (2017)
Feminists look here
Can we all agree that this show is fair? Female's showing their naughty parts and male's as well! I for one am happy that all actors are treated the same way! Of all the shows that I've seen (and their quite a few) I've never seen this level of gender equality!! And sure there will always be those ultra fems that don't agree, but for all the rest of us rational thinking humans; this show really is a hallmark in gender equality in films/TV shows!
FYI - Armand Assante was never as good as he was in this show....ever!
The Walking Dead: Guardians (2019)
This show has gone beyond bad!
I'm not even going to address all the faults since the first two seasons, it's self-evident for everyone that follows this show! I'll admit that I'm guilty; guilty following this mess. Guess I'm stubborn and want to Sue it end after 9 seasons. Fun fact (as this show does not seem to end anytime soon) a garrottering ( s09e12) is near impossible to do and severe the head (male or female). Just saying, and that is not the most egregious thing about this show! Self loathing aside; why do ppl watch this show? Seriously, that's a question! Get off if you can!
