Tom Hanks Oscarless Years

Tom Hanks was one of the Academy's favorite actors during the 1990's. He won the Best Actor Award back to back with Philadelphia (1993) and Forrest Gump (1994) and got an extra nomination for Saving Private Ryan (1998). It appeared he would take the love of the Academy to the next Century, but after competing for Best Actor for Cast Away (2000) his luck changed.

Despite working in many critically acclaimed and Oscar nominated movies, Tom Hanks couldn't nail another nomination for 19 years, when he finally was invited back to the party for his supporting role in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019).

For which performance in an Oscar nominated film during his 19 years drought did he deserve at least a nomination?
