In 1982, Rajkumar Kohli signed Jeetendra and Rajnikanth for a film which was going to be a remake of a Kannada hit film. The project fizzled out.

Starred in the shelved movie "Raasta Patharon Ka"(1984) Starring Rajnikanth, Produced and Directed by B.Subbash.

In 1985, producer A.G. Nadiadwala signed Dharmendra,Mithun Chakraborthy, Rajnikanth for a film to be directed by Esmayell Shroff. It was shelved after announcement.

Starred in the shelved film "Takrao" (1986) .Starring Shatrughan Sinha, Rajnikanth, Anita Raaj, Amrish Puri, Prem Chopra, Sushma Seth.Produced by Raja Roy (Reena Roy's brother),Directed Harmesh Malhotra.

Starred in the shelved film Meenakshi Enterprises untitled film in 1986. Starring Rajesh Khanna (Guest Appearance),Hema Malini, Rajnikanth,Music by Bappi Lahiri, Directed by Bapu.

Subhash Ghai and Rakesh Roshan wrote Karma (1986) and Khudgarz (1987) for Superstar but later played by Naseeruddin Shah and Shatrughan Sinha and both became blockbusters.

In 1987 Ramesh Sippy launched Zameen starring Sridevi, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Rajnikanth and Vinod Khanna. The film was shelved halfway through production when the producers ran out of funds and had to shelve the entire project.

His films with Shyam Benegal untitled 1982, S.Ramanathan "Rudra" (Mahakaal) (1988), Tinu Anand Shanaakht (1988) and Prakash Mehra "Ghar Ka Bhedi"(1990) got shelved. All were with Big B.

Starred in the shelved movie B.G.Communucations "Watan Ke Saudagar"(1991) Starring Rajnikanth, Vijayashanti,Shobhana, Radhika,Charan Raj, Paresh Rawal, Saeed Jaffery, Music Amar Amit, Directed by K. Ravi Dutt.

The original casting of Tahalka (1992) was said to have Sanjay Dutt playing Aditya Pancholi's role,Rajnikanth playing Mukesh Khanna's role and Shakti Kapoor playing Javed Jaffrey's role.

The role of Inspector Wagle in Tiranga (1992) was first offered to Rajnikanth, esp. since the character's first name 'Shivajirao' was same as Rajnikanth's real life first name. He liked the script but wasn't sure whether he would get along with Raajkumar, and refused
