It’s ugly, it’s violent, it’s graphic novelist Frank Miller’s nasty vision through and through. Scream Factory’s Collector’s Edition brings out the amazing backstory of the production of this stop-motion- intensive first sequel to RoboCop. Druglord Caine is a menace, but we’re just as appalled by the film’s vivid depiction of a greater terror: Predatory Privatization.

There was no doubt in anyone's minds at the close of the 2014 Dallas Sci-Fi Expo that the event had more than outgrown the Irving Convention Center. Over 12,000 attendees roamed the halls of the venue February 8th through the 9th in anticipation of seeing or meeting their favorite comic book, TV, or movie celebrity. Many of them were decked out in costumes reflecting different characters and super heroes they loved.
Here is an event where thousands of geeks come together and celebrate pop culture in a safe place. It comes as no surprise if you witness Captain America walking hand-in-hand with Wonder Woman or Princess Leia accompanied by Doctor Who to a panel featuring actors from "RoboCop." No one's judging anyone at Sci-Fi Expo.
This year's convention upped the expectations of event goers once again. Academy Award-winner Richard Dreyfuss was in attendance to meet and greet the masses. Peter Weller and...

This weekend is looking particularly amazing for those of you living in (or traveling to) the Dallas area, because this year’s Dallas Comic Con’s Sci-Fi Expo is overflowing with stars of screen and comics. Richard Dreyfuss! Karl Urban! Stephen Amell! Karen Gillan! The Warehouse 13 and Defiance casts! Ian Churchill! Chris Sprouse! And So Many More.
And if you’re lucky, you might even spot SciFi Mafia Senior Managing Editor Lillian Standefer! Details are below, but Please Especially Note this fine print from the official website: Note: We will allow all pre-registered guests to enter the building Before we start ticket sales at the box office. This may delay the box office ticket sales for 30-60 minutes.

The mid-1980s and early 1990s were a big time for the film industry in Dallas, TX. I would say it was the most prosperous in the city’s history. The Studios at Las Colinas were booming with business from movie productions like Silkwood, Talk Radio, and more.
One of the biggest and most celebrated films to come out of the Dallas area during this period was Paul Verhoeven’s RoboCop.
The Dallas International Film Festival (Diff) used their 2012 event as the perfect time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of RoboCop. The celebration took place at the historic Texas Theatre where police caught Lee Harvey Oswald after the JFK shooting. The establishment now features some first run screenings but focuses on independent projects, special events, and revivals of old movies.
A red carpet walk by members of the cast and crew of the movie kicked off the event.
