It must have been a tough blow to see the newly minted Man of Steel bow out of a project that potentially had franchise capabilities five days before shooting was to commence, but that’s exactly what happened when Henry Cavill left Stratton over “creative differences.” I have to give him credit for doing so, though, since interviews circa late 2014 have him sounding pretty excited about the prospects of bringing to life a book series (written by former Special Boat Service commando and current pseudonym Duncan Falconer) of which he seemed a genuine fan. You have to then wonder if Falconer’s own adaptation was the issue or that from Warren Davis II. Whoever’s to blame, the final result confirms Cavill’s decision. There’s little here to conjure any excitement.

Directed by Simon West (Con Air), this British spy thriller clearly fancies itself as the basis of a lucrative action franchise in the Bond or Bourne mould. Unfortunately, the action is decidedly sub-par and the central character is as dull as dishwater, which doesn’t bode well for its chances of future instalments.
Based on a series of novels by former Special Boat Service commando Duncan Falconer (who co-wrote the screenplay), Stratton centres on pint-sized Sbs commando John Stratton (Dominic Cooper), who’s tasked with capturing evil Russian agent Grigori Barovsky (Thomas Kretschmann), before he unleashes a deadly terror attack on central London. The mission has a personal edge for Stratton, as Barovsky is the man responsible for the death of his former partner,...

When George A. Romero created Night of the Living Dead, the movie originally carried the title Night of the Flesh Eaters. The title was changed at the last moment and the copyright was lost, immediately putting the film into public domain.
That means that anyone can remake or re-imagine the movie and one of the newer projects is Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D. The movie has been in development for a number of years now, but it’s alive and well and we have a new casting update:
via Dread Central: “Simon West Productions (Black Hawk Down, Con Air, The Expendables 2) and the Graphic Film Company, in association with 2020 Entertainment and Indus Media and Entertainment, announced today that Bollywood actor R. Next on the remake train is George Romero's zombie classic Night of the Living Dead. But this one is getting very weird.
The supporting cast is pretty standard, a who's who of genre faces: Tony Todd, Danielle Harris, Tom Sizemore, Bill Mosely, Sydney Tamiia Poitier (Grindhouse), Sarah Habel (Hostel III), Joseph Pilato (the original Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead), and Alona Tal (Cult). But the male lead, starring opposite Danielle Harris, is a Bollywood star named R. Madhavan in what appears to be his first American film. Interesting, but not too weird. The director and co-writer is Zebediah De Soto, in his feature film debut. This is also the first script from the two other credited screenwriters, Warren Davis II and David Reuben Schwartz.
But then it gets downright strange. The story is no longer set in a cemetery, but a NYC apartment building, where...

Get ready for a Bollywood dance number with zombies.
Simon West Productions, Graphic Film Company, 2020 Entertainment and Indus Media and Entertainment are all teaming to create "Night Of The Living Dead: Origins 3D," a (very) loose remake of the George Romero classic.
The story follows a group of survivors who barricade themselves in an abandoned New York apartment building when the zombie plague breaks out.
The project is also being shot "in a CG setting using stereoscopic 3D" which will give the film a look described as a "hybrid of graphic novel and traditional animation."
Bollywood actor R. Madhavan leads a cast that includes Tony Todd, Tom Sizemore, Danielle Harris, Sarah Habel, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Bill Mosley and Joseph Pilato.
Zebediah De Soto will helm from a script he co-wrote with Warren Davis II and David Reuben Schwartz.

For me, the hallowed ground horror movies are John Carpenter‘s Halloween, Jonathan Demme‘s The Silence Of The Lambs, Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, William Friedkin‘s The Exorcist, and especially Night Of The Living Dead. George Romero’s atmospheric original created the template for the contemporary zombie, and I always thought it would be very difficult to follow in the lumbering footsteps of George’s army of flesh eaters with a remake. Well, get ready for what is being called a 3D re-imagining of the classic. Simon West Productions, and the Graphic Film Company, in association with 2020 Entertainment and Indus Media and Entertainment, have set Bollywood actor R. Madhavan (his films include 3 Idiots, 13B, and Tanu Weds Manu) to star in Night Of The Living Dead: Origins 3D. It’s being directed by Zebediah De Soto and co-written by De Soto, Warren Davis II and David Reuben Schwartz.
