The Syndicate producer Rollem is developing short film Youthless into a TV series as one of its first projects since the passing of founder Kay Mellor.
The Yorkshire, UK-based indie has optioned rights to Jordon Scott Kennedy’s script and is working it up for television.
The series will precede events featured in the short and is being built as a returning drama series, though no broadcaster is attached yet. The short explores ‘adultification’ from the point of view of kids growing up on a forgotten council estate in rural West Yorkshire. Envisaged as a black and white trilogy following Jud Donlan’s life over three summer holidays before entering the adult world, Rollem claims “Never has childhood been represented so unflinchingly.”
The “brutally honest” show is based on Scott Kennedy’s own experiences growing up on the Dewsbury Moor Estate.

Emmerdale bosses have announced that Gaynor Faye is joining the cast of the soap, taking on the role of Declan's glamorous half-sister Megan Macey. Megan will make her debut on screen in early 2012 when she turns up to stay with Declan (Jason Merrells) at Home Farm, and show bosses have teased that she quickly makes an impact in the village. Billed as "fiercely ambitious, intimidating and oozing self-confidence", Megan is able to stand up for herself against Declan and also shakes things up for his relationship with Katie (Sammy Winward). Declan makes contact with his estranged sibling because he wants her to be involved in a big new project which looks likely to divide the village. However, as Declan has been known for his turbulent family relationships in the past, viewers will be left to wonder whether he and Megan will become a formidable (more)...

Kerry Katona is impressing no one on Dancing On Ice and two people who seem irritated by her performance so far are former winners of the ITV show, Hayley Tamaddon and Gaynor Faye.
Both women skated with Kerry’s partner Daniel Whiston during their series’ and speaking on This Morning, the loyal actresses hinted that the mum of four isn’t giving the show her all.
Hayley, who skated with Dan on last year’s 2010 series told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford:
I think she started off with more confidence than she’s got now and I think at the minute she’s unhappy. I don’t think she wants to be there now, which is a shame.
Gaynor, who was crowned champion with Whiston back in 2006 added:
She just needs to trust him more. I know she adores him but he’s such a fabulous partner and she needs to enjoy it more.

Jason Gardiner has avoided being sacked from Dancing On Ice, after his spat with Karen Gardiner last weekend and two women happy with ITV’s decision are Gaynor Faye and Hayley Tamaddon.
Both actresses have starred on the reality TV show and speaking on This Morning, agreed that the show would be boring without the caustic comments of their favourite fashionable judge.
Former Coronation Street star Gaynor, who won the show in 2006, was chatting with Eamonn Holmes about the recent furore, trying not to refer to Jason in person in case they caused any offence. When asked the judges should be forced to be pleasant and complimentary all the time, she said:
I hope not to be honest with you because that would make the show quite boring. It needs to have constructive criticism and it’s just the way you say it….you know I love the person that you’re talking about.

One of the funniest acts from tonight’s X Factor had to be Scottish duo G&S.
Admitting that their name G&S stood for Gay and Straight, Peter, 37, and Caroline, 21 embarked on a terrible version of Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ for the judges. What Peter lacked in vocal talent, he made up for in vibrancy, while Caroline had the pipes but the personality of a wet dishcloth.
Seeing some of her potential, Geri Halliwell asked Caroline to re-audition, saying:
“We want to see you, I’d love to hear you sing by yourself.”
Peter then became Caroline’s biggest cheerleader and danced around the back of the stage, while she performed ‘Get Here’ by Olteta Adams. This seemed to go down better with the judges, read their comments below.
Judges Comments:
Geri Halliwell: I definitely think you’ve got something when you commit to it.
