Max Beyond tells the story of Max, a young boy held captive in a research facility. Using his ability to create rifts in the fabric of spacetime across parallel universes, he searches for the reality in which his brother Leon, a former-marine, manages to rescue him. With attempt after attempt ending in Leon’s death, the strain starts to take its toll on both brothers. When Max discovers his captors are using his power against him, he realizes he must stop focusing on how the story ends and rewrite the story from the beginning.

Max is looking for the universe in which his rescuer brother Leon survives in this British animation, but some clever variations aside, it’s slow going
It’s been a two-way street: there are movie spin-offs of video games, and vice versa. Now comes this British animation, made at the same time as a companion game due out next year (and animated using the technology behind Fortnite). Like Blade Runner, it’s set in a futuristic American city with impossibly tall skyscrapers. Like the cult Japanese anime Akira, the storyline concerns experiments on children. Here they’re being treated at a research facility owned by an evil mega-corp where AI security guards with hi-tech machine guns keep out the protesters.
One of the kids inside is Max, a fragile boy with huge sad green eyes (voiced by Cade Tropeano). Max has been having violent dreams in which his much older brother,...

"The next time he Rifts, he will die." HaZimation has revealed the first official trailer for the animated sci-fi action thriller movie titled Max Beyond, the latest creation from VFX filmmaker Hasraf 'HaZ' Dulull. We've been a fan of HaZ for years, posting his short films way back when before he broke out into making features and more. Max Beyond uses the latest real-time animation technology in Unreal Engine, allowing HaZ to take a "transmedia view" to expand the story and universe of Max Beyond into a video game. This s sort of a proof of concept movie for the video game, connecting the story in here eventually in your own hands. A Ptsd marine goes to extreme measures to rescue his 8-year-old brother from a science research facility, where he is being experimented on for his special ability to tap into multi-dimensions across space and time (yet another multiverse...

"They're not driving me out of my own mine!" Film Hub has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror film titled The Haunting of Hell Hole Mine, arriving to watch later in May. This one is being released direct-to-vod for anyone interested. It's one of the final roles from actor Tom Sizemore, who passed away earlier this year. To rescue his niece from insanity, Luke must confront the dark spirit trapped in their ancestral gold mine. The late Tom Sizemore and Tom Lister Jr. star alongside the Oscar nominee Sally Kirkland in the highly anticipated release of this thrilling supernatural western. Rudy Youngblood, May Myot Noe, and David Fennoy also co-star in this unique genre mash-up in the tradition of Cabin in the Woods and Get Out. This looks absolutely awful, but hey maybe some folks will have fun with it. Not much else worth watching here. // Continue Reading...

The trailer for Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay was designed to make it look like a 1970-s grindhouse film, which could have been an interesting take on the team. What we get instead, isn’t exactly that, and while set within the new DC Animated Universe canon is off in a corner, nor is it particularly good or bad. Out this week from Warner Home Entertainment, the 86-minute feature is most certainly not for children.
There’s a gritty realism to the constant violence and betrayal among the villains seen in this movie, written by Alan Burnett, who certainly knows the characters well. He adapts them from the comics, making adjustments for his needs, so it’s not exactly like their four-color counterparts or as we’ve seen them in other animated fare. There’s certainly a high body count, starting early with the quick dispatching of Tobias Whale (Dave Fennoy...

The first trailer for Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay has arrived, and it looks promising. That used to be something you wouldn't have to say about DC Animated Features, but they've been spotty as of late in my personal opinion so all I can say here is the trailer looks pretty damn good. The lineup of heroes is better than the live-action film, Tara Strong is voicing Harley, and the violence doesn't appear to be limited as Quinn just smacked the head off that frozen guy! Let's just hope Vandal Savage is more interesting this time around than he was in Legends of Tomorrow. Christian Slater also stars in the film as Deadshot!

Ok, so not everyone liked the Suicide Squad live-action movie (although on the scale of superhero movies it’s easily one of the better Dceu films), well now DC and Warner Bros. are making amends, sort of, with a brand new animated movie based on the misfit task force: Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay.
Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay finds Amanda Waller’s top secret Task Force X,’ Deadshot, Bronze Tiger, Killer Frost, Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn and Copperhead, on a mission to retrieve a mystical object so powerful that they’re willing to risk their own lives to steal it. But the Suicide Squad isn’t the only group of villains seeking to possess the object. The race is on for the golden prize … and, to stay alive, second place isn’t an option.

While we’re all awaiting the awesomeness that’s sure to be Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, it certainly never hurts to look ahead at whatever other DC animated movies the fine folks over at Warner Bros. Animation are cooking up. After all, this line of films has a reputation for having far more hits than misses.
So, instead of twiddling our thumbs waiting for the silver screen’s iteration of Task Force X to suit up for their next mission, we should be looking forward to something that we can sink our teeth into far sooner. You see, the next one up is that of Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, an original story that obviously draws generous inspiration from New 52 and Rebirth era comic books.
Originally announced last summer at San Diego Comic-Con, word regarding this project has been mum as to not take the spotlight off the aforementioned Gotham by Gaslight,...

After being announced last December, Telltale Games has debuted the first trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode during this weekend’s Minecon event, which is currently underway in Stockholm, Sweden.
Developed in collaboration with Mojang, Minecraft: Story Mode brings a narrative-driven adventure to the world of Minecraft for the first time in franchise history. Inspired by the rabid fanbase of Mojang’s astoundingly popular title, Story Mode will feature the captivating characters and layered storylines that Telltale Games has come to be known for.
In this adventure, players will step into the blocky shoes of Jesse, an ordinary fellow voiced by Patton Oswalt. After unwittingly unleashing an ancient terror while at EnderCon, Jesse and his friends must seek out The Order of the Stone, four adventurers who vanquished an Elder Dragon years prior. The mythical Order, comprised of a Warrior, Redstone, Engineer, Griefer and Architect, represents the best hope for saving the day.

It's a fun one, kids. While at Comic-Con, Telltale held a panel discussing the future of Season 2 of their hit episodic game The Walking Dead. Of course we were in attendance since DC has the magically ability to be in 1,000 places at once, so read on for the lowdown.
Building on what seems to be a (welcome) pattern in games, choices you've made in Season 1 and the recently released 400 Days Dlc will have somewhat of an impact on Season 2 (via your file save transfer), as Telltale's president Kevin Bruner confirms that some of these choices will import from Season 1 to Season 2. I realize 400 Days is somewhat of a standalone Dlc, but the fact that your gameplay in that Dlc Will have an impact is pretty fucking sweet.
The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman was on hand and said he's in the process of figuring out who (and If anyone) from...

It was only Sunday night that I was out standing in the snow and rain at BAFTAs. Just when I thought I had gotten over the show, the video game BAFTAs have crept up on me and released their nominations on me.
Across 17 catagories, Journey has been nominated for 8. As with all the awards this year, The Walking Dead is right on its heels as it looks like the two games are set to slug it out one last time on March 5th.
In one of the most interesting nominations of the year, Far Cry 3 has been nominated for Best Story. This is going to get some stick from some, but not from me. I have been championing that games story and intent since I completed the game. Clearly a few of us Brits had our thinking caps on as we played through the game.
But perhaps, most surprisingly is...

Fighting movies like Beatdown and Locked Down aspire to many not-so lofty things. Their target audience wants blood, bruises, and breasts with a soundtrack by bands who want to be the next Linkin Park. While Locked Down aspires to these goals, it is rare to see a fighting film that wants to be The Shawshank Redemption with kung fu. Locked Down is not likely to win awards anytime soon and I cannot really recommend it. However, I did not hate this movie which is much more than I expected.
In Locked Down, Danny (Tony Schiena) is an undercover cop who is framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Soon after he arrives in prison, he is recruited to the underground fight club where criminals fight to the death, run by boss Anton (Vinnie Jones) and Flores (Bai Ling). Danny’s cellmate Irving (Dave Fennoy) helps Danny train for the...
