Gwyneth Paltrow kicked off her 11th In Goop Health Summit April 19 to 21 at the upscale Park Hyatt Aviara Resort Golf Club & Spa in Carlsbad, where a Miraval Life in Balance Spa Aviara was unveiled in September as the final phase of a $60 million resort-wide renovation. Guests paid $1,200 for a daylong Summit Pass or $4,000 for a Weekender Pass, which included a two-night stay at the resort, a welcome dinner and brunch.
As usual, there was an array of wellness experiences and thought leaders. The keynote featured Justina Blakeney, founder of home décor brand Jungalow, and powerhouse entrepreneur Emma Grede, who co-founded Khloé Kardashian’s denim brand Good American in 2016, co-founded Skims shapewear with her husband, Jens Gredes, and Kim Kardashian in 2019, and rolled out both Kris Jenner’s natural cleaning brand Safely in 2021 and Kylie Jenner’s Khy fashion label in October 2023.

What’s the scariest fate Lori Gottlieb -- the author of Marry Him: The Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough [Amazon U.S.] [Amazon Canada] [Amazon U.K.], the saddest book ever written -- can imagine for a not-married woman? It’s this (from the book, via a review of the book at Jezebel): end[ing] up in a one-bedroom apartment with a Netflix subscription Or perhaps because she’s secretly happily single, freakin’ loves Netflix -- like every other movie lover in the country -- and is hoping to scare away some of her competition for those “long wait” DVDs. This has been your Wtf Thought for the Day.

The actor could go for more Oscar-baiting roles or a brand-new franchise.

After he's hung up those web shooters and says goodbye to his role as Peter Parker, following the news that "Spider-Man 4" has been scrapped, what's next for Tobey Maguire? Will he reach out for another franchise, or will he go after more serious, Oscar-hungry roles akin to his recent acclaimed (and Golden Globe-nominated) stint in the drama "Brothers"?
The 34-year-old actor may now be wondering if he should make those "Hobbit" rumors come true. Maguire has long been said to be a contender for the role of young Bilbo Baggins in the Peter Jackson-produced, Guillermo del Toro-directed "Lord of the Rings" prequels, but he has continually denied involvement. Actually, Maguire told MTV News last month that he'd never met Del Toro and hadn't talked to anybody...

NEW YORK -- "21" scribe Peter Steinfeld will adapt the lottery scam memoir "Money for Nothing" for Warner Independent Pictures, Michael De Luca Prods. and Tobey Maguire's Maguire Entertainment.
WIP optioned Edward Ugel's wry take on his experiences talking lottery winners into taking lump-sum cash payments against their future earnings -- and pocketing a good chunk of change for himself in the process.
De Luca's Alissa Phillips and ME's Mark Ross will oversee the project for their companies. WIP creative executive Richard Gold will oversee for his studio.
Ugel's HarperCollins book, subtitled "One Man's Journey Through the Dark Side of Lottery Millions," was published in September.
The project is the latest collaboration for WIP and ME, which recently optioned Lori Gottlieb's Atlantic Monthly article "Marry Him: The Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough" and obtained rights to her upcoming Dutton book based on the story, "Marry Him: Finding Mr. Real".
Steinfeld is repped by CAA.

- In 2008, "Settling" Tries to be the New Black. With designer sperm and no hubby in sight, is a near-perfect life just as good? Lori Gottlieb has officially jumped on the nerdy husband bandwagon. A single mother, her new piece in The Atlantic Monthly, "Marry Him!" ponders a radical thought: "settling" for a relationship that isn't the fantasy you thought it'd be, but getting a stable marriage (and a packaged father to your child) in return (click here to read the article). Interesting thought, but can it translate to the screen when the depressing thought of "settling" for less than the man/woman of your dreams can be so alienating?Warner Independent Pictures, partnering with Tobey Maguire's Maguire Entertainment, has optioned Gottlieb's article as well as the rights to her forthcoming book inspired by it. Warner Independent Pictures has optioned Lori Gottlieb's Atlantic Monthly article "Marry Him! The Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough" as well as the rights to her forthcoming book based on the article. Tobey Maguire and his Maguire Entertainment are producing.
Gottlieb, a single mother who conceived her child with donor sperm, suggested in her piece that settling probably will make a woman happier in the long run because many of those who marry with high expectations become more disillusioned with each passing year.
Since hitting newsstands in the March issue, "Marry Him!" has garnered much attention, and Gottlieb -- an NPR commentator and best-selling author of the memoir "Stick Figure: A Diary of My Former Self" -- found herself on TV's Today and The Colbert Report, on radio's Talk of the Nation and The Tom Leykis Show and in print in the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe and Wall Street Journal.
