The New York ballroom-style competition series “Legendary” has been canceled at HBO Max after three seasons, TheWrap has confirmed.
On the one-hour reality competition series, vogue dancers represented their houses and battled it out on the stage, going against one another in nine balls that were judged on the basis of fashion, style and uniqueness. At the end, the winning house would leave with 100,000.
The judges included Leiomy Maldonado, Law Roach, Jameela Jamil and Keke Palmer, with the show’s host being Dashaun Wesley. Megan Thee Stallion served as a judge on the first two seasons. The series won two Emmy awards this year for Outstanding Contemporary Makeup for a Reality Program and a TCA award for Outstanding Achievement in Reality Programming.

Reality competition series “Legendary” has been canceled at HBO Max after three seasons.
The news comes just one day after Variety exclusively reported the cancellation of “FBoy Island,” another fan-favorite unscripted project at the streamer.
The series took place within the New York ballroom scene, following different houses of vogue dancers as they competed in balls and fashion showcases in order to achieve “legendary” status. Among the cast were Mc Dashaun Wesley and DJ MikeQ as well as celebrity judges Law Roach, Jameela Jamil, Leiomy Maldonado and Megan Thee Stallion. Season 1 premiered in 2020, while Season 2 came in 2021 and Season 3 premiered in May of this year.
Like with “FBoy Island,” the end of “Legendary” points to a larger story within the continued impact of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger. CEO David Zaslav brought with him not just a stacked unscripted slate from across the Discovery brands, but also a rather brutal cost-cutting spirit.

Exclusive: The reality cancellations are coming thick and fast at HBO Max.
The streamer has canceled voguing competition series Legendary after three seasons.
It comes after it emerged that FBoy Island was canceled after two seasons.
Similar to the Nikki Glaser-fronted dating series, Legendary is a relatively expensive show for a streaming service that pulled out of original unscripted orders earlier this summer. At the time, the streamer noted that while it wasn’t ordering any new unscripted originals, it would consider renewing existing shows but FBoy Island and Legendary are more expensive than the David Zaslav-run company would like to spend on unscripted shows.
It’s also a blow for diversity in unscripted programming as Legendary was one of the most inclusive reality shows on air and praised by GLAAD.
Legendary features a group of voguing houses, each featuring five performers and a leader called the house mother.

One of the most unique and hilarious new comedies of 2015 was Fxx’s Man Seeking Woman, which follows twenty-something Josh Greenberg (Jay Baruchel) through a never-ending string of odd and fantastical experiences as he tries to get over a major break-up and find love again. It’s a show that, with its surrealistic situations and offbeat sense of humor, is quite unlike anything else on television, and that same style and tone are on display again in the comedy’s first full trailer for Season 2. In the two-minute trailer below, Josh deals with the awkwardness of purchasing a very “lifelike” adult toy for his new girlfriend, his overbearing mother proclaiming that she thinks he’s “destined for greatness” at what looks like an outdoor church, and his talking about Super Mario Bros. literally boring a girl to death. She also said that she had never known her son to be sick a day in his life and that he did not take drugs, and that police found no apparent signs of drug use or any injuries to his body. Jay Baruchel tells us he has found the perfect pitch for his new Fxx comedy “Man Seeking Woman”: “It’s a cartoon come to life!” During our recent webcam chat (watch below), the actor opens up about his leading role on the zany laffer, saying,“You really have no idea what it’s going to be from one scene to the next and who’s going to show up and what crazy stuff is going to happen." As he readily admits, "I don’t know how many TV shows you can say that about.” -Break- Why "Man Seeking Woman" is the best show that you are not watching According to the actor who plays Josh Greenberg, an unassuming young man navigating the dating scene, the narrative exists in an “elastic” reality, His misadventures often veer into fantasies that are largely inconsequential to the ongoing story. This makes “Man Seeking Woman” an unusual hyb.

Fxx has greenlit a second season for its high-concept comedy series "Man Seeking Woman." The sitcom follows Josh Greenberg (Jay Baruchel), a dorky 20-something embarking on a fantastical quest to find true love. His encounters range from basic one-night stands to blind dates with a (literal) troll. "Man Seeking Woman" has fared well on the young Fxx, which was established as an offshoot to FX in order to target younger viewers: Average viewership among 18-49 year-olds is 67 percent higher than Fxx's primetime average, and the median age of its viewers is 32. The comedy also earned strong reviews from critics out of its January premiere. "Working on 'Man Seeking Woman' has been the creative highlight of my life," showrunner Simon Rich said in a release. "Fxx gave us the freedom to make the show we love and they let us build some truly disgusting monsters. I'm so grateful to...

Wednesday February 18) night's episode of "Man Seeking Woman," titled "Gavel," was actually one of the initial three episodes sent to critics this winter. As always with "Man Seeking Woman" episodes, it's hard to say what the episode is about without giving away the week's metaphorical approaches to Josh Greenberg's (Jay Baruchel) singledom and dating travails. However, as always with "Man Seeking Woman," merely giving away the broad strokes of the episode's hyper-stylized angle on relationships doesn't really spoil how committed the show is to the individual gags. After all, I could have told you last week's "Msw" finally featured that Japanese Penis Monster that creator Simon Rich has been telling reporters about since the fall, but just saying "Japanese Penis Monster" only gave you the tip of the... iceberg when it came to Tanaka. But this week's episode also includes aliens. Very different aliens. It features a callback to...

TCA 2015: “We’re all exorcising our demons,” series star says
Fxx’s new quirky comedy, “Man Seeking Woman,” features some fantastical things such as Japanese penis monsters, and dating a 126-year-old Adolph Hitler. The show’s main character, Josh Greenberg (Jay Baruchel), is so pathetic, even his own hand breaks up with him.
But according to writer and creator Simon Rich, it’s more autobiographical than viewers might realize.
“A lot of the stuff on this show is based on real-life experiences,” Rich told the crowd at the 2105 Television Critics Association Winter press tour in Pasadena.

Simon Rich, creator of Fxx’s new Man Seeking Woman, says he’s “very relieved” his father “is not a current television critic.” Rich’s series stars Jay Baruchel as Josh Greenberg, a naive romantic desperately looking for love in the digital dating era. Man Seeking Woman
Airs Wednesdays at 10:30 pm Et on Fxx, starting January 14
The beginning of the television midseason brings with it a number of new shows, and the prospect of adding another series to one’s viewing schedule can often be a daunting one. While half-hour comedic shows offer less of a time commitment, they also face the same hurdle. Fortunately, the new Fxx show Man Seeking Woman, which follows the trials and tribulations of Josh Greenberg as he navigates the world of dating, proves itself worthy of an audience right away, setting itself apart by willfully steering itself into fantasy while showing the ability to develop into something more.
While the premise of the show is one that is not uncommon in the tv landscape, where Man Seeking Woman excels is in its execution. The show manages to walk a fine line between not...

Toronto, Canada. After a morning spent slipping and falling, for comedic effect, on the ice of a suburban hockey rink, "Man Seeking Woman" star Jay Baruchel is eager to talk about his new Fxx romantic comedy. The Powers That Be, however, are not cooperating. We're in a small Baptist church that has had its basement retrofitted into a "Man Seeking Woman" production hub and, at the moment, a high-profile guest star who I can't currently reveal is shooting in front of a green-screen in the room next door. A door is closed, but Baruchel is excited about his first regular TV series gig in nearly a decade and a stern Ad keeps peeking in to "shush" the source of loud vocalizations, ignoring that the noise is coming from the guy who's first on the call-sheet. This is not what a guy who spent the morning stumbling and bumbling on freshly...

Toronto, Canada. Fxx's new series "Man Seeking Woman" is a 2015 romantic-comedy with a very specific voice. Not to spoil too much, but it's the story of Josh Greenberg (Jay Baruchel), a young Chicagoan who faces single life after he breaks up with long-time girlfriend Maggie (Maya Erskine) and discovers that returning to the dating pool is absurd, surreal, whimsical and occasionally sad. The main voice behind "Man Seeking Woman" comes very clearly from Simon Rich, whose listed age is 30. The son of prolific writer Frank Rich, Simon Rich has the resume of a much, much older man. He was a staff writer on "Saturday Night Live" for four years, one of the youngest ever. He's been a regular contributor to the New Yorker, a staff writer at Pixar and the author of the novels "Elliot Allagash" and "What in God's Name," plus four collections of short stories including "The Last...

While many may still be catching up on some of the great television from 2014, programming in 2015 is starting earlier than ever. Gone are the days of months-long hiatuses and January and Februarys full of repeats. This year looks to be just as jam-packed as last year, with interesting television coming from any number of sources. Here are Chief TV Editor Kate Kulzick and Managing TV Editor Deepayan Sengupta’s picks for new premieres to keep an eye out for in the coming weeks.

Set to premiere on January 14, Fxx's "Man Seeking Woman" is dark-and-sweet half-hour romantic comedy, but that's a bit reductive. Ideally, your first response to the series should come knowing as little as possible, because the "Man Seeking Woman" description -- The 10-episode comedy follows naïve twenty-something Josh Greenberg (Jay Baruchel) on his unrelenting quest for love -- tells you precious little. However, there are many ways to arrive at the core comedic conceit of "Man Seeking Woman" fresh, including the January 14 series premiere -- I've only seen the pilot so far, but it works well -- or reading series creator's very funny and sometimes moving short story collection "The Last Girlfriend on Earth." Since I was on the show's Toronto set, I'll also have a slew of "Man Seeking Woman" interviews around the premiere date, including conversations with Rich, Baruchel and co-stars Eric Andre, Britt Lower and Maya Erskine. Plus...
