The Big Bang Theory has only been off the air for four years thus far, but after 12 seasons it’s hard to imagine the cast as anything other than the beloved characters they played for over a decade. While some actors have chosen to take it easy in the years since Bbt ended, others have gone full-speed ahead into roles that are wildly different from the characters we know them as.
Across film and television, here are the Big Bang Theory cast’s best post-Big Bang roles.
Johnny Galecki – The Conners

The Conners Recap: A Sudden Death Paves Way for Introduction of New Relative — Plus, An Update on DJ
Wednesday’s Conners featured the off-screen death of an extended family member and provided an update on the M.I.A. DJ.
During the cold open, Louise and Neville got word that their estranged brother Aaron died of a heart attack, leaving behind a 17-year-old son named Caleb (played by Shameless‘ Ethan Cutkosky aka Carl Gallagher). It was now up to the remaining Goldufski siblings (and their respective spouses, Dan and Jackie) to determine who would board their jaded nephew, who’d had a rough go of things with an alcoholic dad.

Courageous disc boutique Scream Factory takes on one of Hammer’s biggest embarrassments, that almost everyone connected to it would like to disown. I bailed from my first viewing around 1990 … yet this time around found it somewhat better than I expected. The girlie-show nudity is treated as a special effect, and the story at least hangs together. And like every Hammer horror, there’s a sizable, vocal cheering section out there that sings its praises.

The series premiere of The Conners is drawing nearer, and ABC is graciously gifting us with more looks at the upcoming season. The new show will focus on the iconic TV family as they deal with the everyday struggles of life, and the recently dropped teaser gives us a taste of what that's like. Whether it's watching Darlene (Sara Gilbert) and Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) plan ahead for the holidays or catching a brief glimpse of the family together at church, it's obvious that life goes on for the Conners, with or without Roseanne.
Though the network has remained mum on how it'll deal with Roseanne's absence after the cancellation of the Roseanne reboot, Roseanne Barr herself has said that the Conner matriarch is going to die of an overdose. Whether or not she's right, it looks like her absence hasn't stopped the show from moving forward; there's already lots to...

The series premiere of the Roseanne spinoff, The Conners, is inching closer, and it seems like the cast and production team haven't had much trouble moving forward with the new show after the messy Roseanne debacle. There's quite a bit to anticipate, including the return of original castmate Johnny Galecki, who played David Healy, the love interest of Sara Gilbert's character, Darlene Conner. Galecki was on Roseanne from 1992 to 1997 and made an appearance in one episode of the reboot. While it's unclear how many episodes of The Conners he will appear in, he is getting ready to have more free time on his hands. He has been a regular on The Big Bang Theory, which is now in its final season.

As great as last season's revival of Roseanne was, one of the frustrating things about it for fans was the fact that actor Johnny Galecki was only able to work in a single appearance as his character from the show, David Healy. Of course, that difficulty just might have something to do with the fact that he happens to star in one of TV's top-rated shows at the moment, The Big Bang Theory. And now, with the Roseanne spin-off The Conners, it wasn't sounding too promising that he would be be able to appear this season. Thanks to actress Juliette Lewis, however, we now know that the schedule stars have aligned and he will indeed be returning for at least an episode. View this post on Instagram Here’S The Big News!! For Johnny Galecki, also known as physicist Leonard Hofstadter on “The Big Bang Theory,” the end of an era is in sight; CBS recently announced that after a dozen years, season 12 will be the last for the 10-time Emmy-winning show, which has spurred household catchphrases and the TV spinoff “Young Sheldon.” Along with Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar, Galecki helped the nerd comedy climb to the top of the ratings.
Galecki drew his first mention in Variety in 1987 when he was cast in the NBC pilot “Kowalski Loves Ya,” later named “Time Out for Dad,” starring football legend Dick Butkus. Since then, he has scored a Golden Globe nomination, as well as Emmy and Critics Choice nominations for his work on “The Big Bang Theory,” and rumors are swirling as to whether he’ll reprise his role as David Healy in the upcoming “Roseanne” spinoff, “The Conners.

“The Big Bang Theory” welcomes one of its biggest guest stars for Thursday’s season finale in none other than Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill. But Johnny Galecki revealed that the “Star Wars” alum was far more interested in some “deep-ass trivia” regarding his “Roseanne” character, David Healy.
“[He] had a lot of questions, like old ‘Roseanne’ trivia questions,” the actor told TheWrap. Specifically, that his character was called Kevin, not David, in his very first appearance on “Roseanne.”
“That’s some deep-ass trivia, man,” Galecki remembers telling Hamill.
Overall, Galecki said Hamill was just excited to take his place among the “Big Bang Theory” gallery of geeky guest stars including Stan Lee, Stephen Hawking, Leonard Nimoy, LeVar Burton, George Takei and his “Star Wars” co-star, the late Carrie Fisher.

“He’s just incredibly effusive to be there,” Galecki said of Hamill. “He’s a lot of fun, he’s hilarious in the episode.”
As for the fate of “The Big Bang Theory” itself, Galecki re-iterated the plan is for the show to wrap after next season, though added no decision has been set in stone.
“It’s not for me to say or predict. That’s the plan right now,” he said. “We’re operating under what we know at this point, and the only discussions that we’ve had amongst the cast is that we’re going to be very sad when that day comes.”

The highly-anticipated Roseanne reboot is finally here! When the updated series premiered on ABC on Tuesday, March 27 two decades after the original show's run, many fans were surprised to see almost all of the former cast members returned for the revival. Not only did Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, Sarah Chalke, Michael Fishman, and Johnny Galecki come back, but the 2018 cast also features a few new characters. So, just how many of those new and old characters are Roseanne's kids? Scroll down to meet the Conner family! Becky Conner-Healy Becky is Roseanne and Dan Conner's eldest child. She was originally played by Lecy Goranson in Seasons 1 through 5. In 1992, Lecy decided to leave Roseanne to pursue a college education at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. At the time, the young actress' school schedule permitted her to still occasionally appear on the series. During Season 5, Lecy's character,...

“Roseanne” made waves when it returned to ABC after 21 years for diving head first into the U.S.’ current political divide. Johnny Galecki, who came back as David Healy last month, credits the revival’s embrace of politics as a reason for its success.
“It’s always been a show that was very contemporary and very honest about what families go through … what families argue about,” the actor told TheWrap while promoting his new indie movie “The Cleanse.”
The show, namely because of series star Roseanne Barr’s real-life politics, has been lauded by the conservative community for promoting their values and showcasing working-class, middle America. “I don’t know that a lot of shows are doing that,” the “Big Bang Theory” star said.

For Galecki — who joined Season 4 in 1992 — the show also has a personal connection, as he remembers watching the first episode when he was growing up in Chicago. “My parents said, ‘It’s like the writers are peering through our windows,'” he recalled, adding that the original series “governed when my family ate dinner.”
Galecki said he wasn’t surprised that the “Roseanne” revival has been successful. “I was one of the people who couldn’t wait for it to return,” he said.
While he had kept in touch with Barr, Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert (who had a recurring role on “The Big Bang Theory”) over the years, Galecki said when he was on set for the revival, it was the first time he had been with the entire cast in one sitting.

The Roseanne revival undid many of the controversial plot twists of the 1997 series finale — like resurrecting family patriarch Dan Conner from the dead, for example. But what happened to Darlene Conner and David Healy's baby, aka Dan and Roseanne Conner's granddaughter? That Season 9 finale erased Darlene and David's whole relationship, but now in Season 10, that twist has also been reversed, and little Harris Conner-Healy isn't so little anymore! The Season 10 premiere wasn't the first time Harris made comeback. She was born prematurely in Season 9, and doctors didn't expect her to survive. Survive she did, however, and now she's living with her grandparents along with mom Darlene, who recently lost her job on the new reboot show. Harris, played by Shameless star Emma Kenney, is 14 years old now, even though Season 10 takes place 20 years after Season 9. But she's a precocious 14, eager to rise above her family's working-class existence. A post...

If you've been wondering where Darlene Conner's husband, David Healy, has been on the new Roseanne reboot, wonder no more! Johnny Galecki returned to the revival to reprise his character during the Tuesday, April 17 episode of the sitcom, and fans got a lot of answers. Though Darlene (played by Sara Gilbert) and David are no longer a married couple on the updated storyline (hence why Darlene moved home with Roseanne and Dan), they are parents to two children together — a teenage daughter named Harris Conner-Healy and a 10-year-old son named Mark Conner-Healy. And in the highly-anticipated episode, we finally got to see the former couple reunite when David made a surprise return for Harris' birthday party after being estranged from his family for years. During his stay, we also learned why they actually split in the first place. So it turns out, David left Darlene because of his late brother,...

[Editor’s note: The following article contains spoilers for “Roseanne” Season 10 Episode 5, “Darlene v. David.”]
One of the challenges of a new ABC season of “Roseanne” was to make it feel like something other than a simple parade of familiar faces. To make this seem like a fulfilling storytelling exercise and not a pure nostalgia grab, it wasn’t enough just to bring the whole gang back: There needed to be a reason. Though the first handful of episodes has found things beyond “Roseanne” canon to discuss — with mixed results — this reboot did well to frame its experiences around the main members of the family. Keeping that interconnected web of Conners and Healys at the heart of the show was the only way to revive the series.
Still, this new “Roseanne” would still have been possible without the return of Johnny Galecki’s David Healy. With the actor’s commitments elsewhere and a Darlene storyline that explained her new chapter as a single mom,...

Why did Darlene Conner name her son Mark on Roseanne? It was actually a way for her character to honor her late brother-in-law, Mark Healy. And for Roseanne stars Sara Gilbert and Johnny Galecki, it's was similarly a way to honor their late co-star, Glenn Quinn. When Sara was developing the revival of the hit ABC sitcom, she reached out to Johnny when it was time to name their characters' child. "I thought, I've got to reach out to Johnny Galecki because this is our kid together," Sara recounted on The Talk on April 16. "So I texted him, 'What do you think we should name our baby boy?' And then I said, 'Oh, maybe Mark,' because Mark was played by Glenn Quinn, who was his brother on the show [and] who passed away." Glenn played Mark Healy on the show — the tough-guy love interest of Darlene's sister, Becky Conner,...

They're more than just co-stars, they're like family. In a new interview, Roseanne star Michael Fishman — who portrays DJ Conner on the hit ABC show — revealed the cast has a special on-set ritual to remember late actor Glenn Quinn before filming each new episode of the series reboot. "Glenn is missed by us daily. He remains part of the show, and close to our hearts. Before each taping we do cast introductions for the audience. We come out of Roseanne and Dan’s master bedroom, through the kitchen to meet the crowd. It is an exhilarating immediate connection with fans. In that hallway, I brought in Glenn’s picture, we each pass it before every episode we film. We remember Glenn every day. He will always be with us, part of us, part of the Roseanne show and family," Michael wrote on Facebook on Wednesday, April 11. Glenn as Mark on the show.

Actor Glenn Quinn portrayed Mark Healy on Roseanne from 1990 until 1997, but he sadly passed away just five years after the show ended. And now that the sitcom's exciting reboot has returned to ABC, many fans are wondering — how exactly did Mark from Roseanne die and how will he be remembered on the new revival? On Dec. 3, 2002, Glenn sadly passed away from an accidental heroin overdose. He was found by a friend on a couch in Hollywood at the time of his passing. He was only 32 years old when he died. Because Mark was such a beloved character on Roseanne — he played Becky Conner's husband and David Healy's brother — the writers wanted to ensure Glenn was remembered in the updated storyline. In fact, actress Lecy Goranson (who portrays Becky on the series) has just revealed that the entire reboot is dedicated to Glenn's memory. Mark and Becky on the show.

Remember when actress Lecy Goranson (aka the original Becky!) randomly left Roseanne? When the hit ABC sitcom premiered back in 1988, Lecy — who was then just 14 years old — perfectly portrayed the spunky eldest Conner daughter, Becky. But after five seasons on the series, Lecy surprisingly exited the show and left fans totally perplexed as to why. Scroll down for all the details on Lecy's departure! Why did the original Becky leave Roseanne? In 1992, Lecy decided to leave Roseanne to pursue a college education at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. At the time, the young actress' school schedule permitted her to still occasionally appear on the series. During Season 5, Lecy's character, Becky, surprisingly eloped with her boyfriend, Mark Healy (played by the late Glenn Quinn), and subsequently left her Illinois hometown. Since Becky then lived out-of-state, Lecy was often shown speaking to her parents, Roseanne Conner (played by Roseanne Barr) and Dan Conner...

The Roseanne cast is back together again for the 2018 reboot— and we couldn't be more excited. And now that the series finally airs tonight, we can't wait to see Johnny in his former role again. "We have got our Johnny Galecki back on Roseanne this episode — what a joy to work with such a deeply empathetic actor," she wrote at the time. "Very moving 4 all of us. #Joy." Johnny will seemingly come back as Darlene's husband, David Healy. And he's not the only one coming back! Roseanne, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, and more previously reunited at the first table read. We are just days away from the premiere of the Roseanne revival, and ABC has dropped another promo for the new episodes.
The biggest talking point from the latest clip is the return of Johnny Galecki as David Healy aka Darlene's husband.
“They kept everything exactly the same as it was when you guys were kids,” says of the lack of change of the years in the Conner household.
“It’s a decorating choice called poverty,” says Darlene with a smile.
Yes, it sure seems like the show is not going to be lost for laughs.
While most shows tend to lose their spark as the years roll on, Roseanne took a lengthy break from the air.
Galecki is only slated to appear in one episode of the revival because of his commitment to The Big Bang Theory.

Welcome back to Lanford, Johnny Galecki!
In the latest promo for ABC’s forthcoming Roseanne revival, the Big Bang Theory star reprises his role as Darlene’s husband David Healy, who seems appropriately overwhelmed by his return to the Conner house.
“They kept everything exactly the same as it was when you guys were kids,” David marvels, prompting Darlene to quip, “It’s a decorating choice called poverty.” (As previously reported, the revival will find Darlene moving back home with her two kids, though it’s not clear what prompts her return, or what her relationship with David is currently like.

Make some more room around the kitchen table.
Although Johnny Galecki’s involvement in ABC’s forthcoming Roseanne revival remains an open question, new details have come to light that suggest his character, David Healy, will at the very least have a strong presence in the eight-episode continuation.
ABC declined to comment for this story, but TVLine has learned that producers — which include Galecki’s onscreen squeeze Sara Gilbert as well as titular star Roseanne Barr, actress-comedienne Whitney Cummings and sitcom vet Brice Heldford — have quietly begun searching for a young actress and actor to portray the children of Gilbert...

Numerous actors have occupied the role of Sherlock Holmes over the decades, some more suited to the shoes of author Arthur Conan Doyle's famous consulting detective than others. One of the finest portrayals is that by Ian Richardson. Yet, sadly, his is also one that is often overlooked, not leastways because he played the character just twice (in a pair of 1983 films made for television), but also because his light was to be quickly eclipsed a year later by the arrival on TV screens of Jeremy Brett, whose interpretation of Holmes is considered by many to be the definitive one.
Sy Weintraub – who produced several Tarzan movies throughout the 60s and was executive producer on the popular long-running Ron Ely TV series –teamed up with Otto Plaschkes (whose producer credits include Georgie Girl and The Holcroft Covenant) with the intention of making several Holmes adventures headlining Richardson.

Actor and producer who played Brad Majors in the original Rocky Horror Show in 1973 and Saffy's gay dad in Ab Fab
Christopher Malcolm, who has died of cancer aged 67, played Brad Majors in the original production of The Rocky Horror Show in 1973 and, as his life as an actor started to overlap with an interest in producing the shows themselves, he became, after co-producing the West End revival of Rocky Horror in 1990, the executive in charge of all subsequent worldwide productions.
His death came just a few days after his latest project, the revival of Oh What a Lovely War at Stratford East, opened to enthusiastic notices, probably sealing a West End transfer. The way the show turned out was a good example of the kind of creative partnerships he enjoyed and nurtured throughout his career. For more than 30 years, he worked as an "insider" producing link between such London...
