Get ready to feel as old, ’90s kids: Buffy the Vampire Slayer premiered 20 years ago today.
The beloved series, which cemented Sarah Michelle Gellar‘s place in pop culture history, continues to serve as a favorite among fans with an affinity for high school dramas and regular vampire showdowns.
It’s hard to imagine a TV landscape without the benefit of the show’s landmark run — creator Joss Whedon and Gellar pushed a strong female lead into a world of supernatural creatures, which proved to be successful for ratings and a groundbreaking precedent for future shows.

Starting this December, Disney-Lucasfilm will release the first in its A Star Wars Story spin-off movies, with Gareth Edwards' Rogue One kicking off a string of stand-alone adventures away from the main, numbered series.
At the Star Wars Celebration Europe event a few days ago, Hail, Caesar actor Alden Ehrenreich was officially confirmed as the new, younger Han Solo, ahead of his spin-off movie's production start in early 2017. More recently, however, there have been reports that the Han Solo mvoie won't be a one-off - according to The New York Daily News' insider, there are already plans to give the smuggler a trilogy of films.

All eyes are on Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Han Solo spin-off, chronicling a time before he met Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Mos Eisley cantina, especially on who the duo choose to play a younger version of everyone’s favourite scruffy Nerf Herder, and while there is no official word from Disney and Lucasfilm as of yet, all major publications are reporting that Alden Ehrenreich (Beautiful Creatures, Blue Jasmine, Hail, Caesar!) has signed on the dotted line to step into Harrison Ford’s substantial shoes. Ehrenreich has been rumoured to have taken the role for some time now, beating out the likes of Jack Reynor, Dave Franco, Taron Eggerton, and Miles Teller. While he doesn’t have many credits to his name, he has proven himself a fine actor with he has been in, and managed to steal the show in Hail, Caeser! as ‘singing cowboy’ Hobie Doyle.

During something called the “Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet & Telecom Conference”, Disney boss Bob Iger talked about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the upcoming young Han Solo spin-off (which I tentatively title “Nerf Herder Chronicles). Iger revealed that the Han Solo movie will actually be an origin story about the smuggler and his furry friend Chewbacca.
Iger said (via The Wrap):
“Rogue One is about a band of rebels plotting to steal the plans to the Death Star. It takes place right before George Lucas‘s first film, which came out in 1977 and is now called ‘The New Hope.’ We have others in the works, including one, which is an origin story about Han Solo and Chewy. And that’ll come after ‘Star Wars 8’ in 2018. And then there will possibly more thereafter.”
So here is what we know so far: Rogue One is directed by Gareth Edwards (Looper) and stars Felicity Jones,...

Sequels can be a force of good or evil, but are generally seen as rather risky ventures for actors who are concerned about things like “respectability.” Leonardo DiCaprio has never made a sequel, after all, and for good reason: he knows that, in all likelihood, it’s going to suck. Why make a sequel when you can make something fresh and new and original, right?
And yet that doesn’t stop countless actors from returning for follow-ups to their more successful movie ventures, year after year.
Because for an actor, a sequel can seem like a cushy gig: you’re familiar with the role already, after all, so you don’t need to bother with getting acquainted with the ins and outs of a new character; the part is likely to pay well and the film itself will probably do good numbers at the box office, ensuring career longevity.

Earlier today, we got the shortlist of actors who could potentially play a young version of Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars Story movie that follows him in his early days. Though production is still a ways off, there may be a reason we.re hearing about this casting now: young Han Solo could potentially show up later this year in the next adventure in that far, far away galaxy, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. We learned that a slew of talented young actors like Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Emory Cohen, and Blake Jenner are the ones up for Han Solo, but according to Variety, we may see this new version of the scruffy looking Nerf Herder sooner than we thought. Though the Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film isn.t slated to even start shooting until next January,...

1. Dematerialisation!
The latest effort from one John Smith on YouTube, this spectacular animation provides a new twist on the familiar concept of the Tardis dematerialising and reappearing somewhere new - it's a breathtaking bit of work, as the Doctor's craft tears dramatically through the time-space vortex.
"Since the Tardis' dematerialisation effect has remained largely unchanged for the past fifty years, I thought it might be interesting to try out a new approach," reads the video description.
