1998’s Halloweentown is one of the most beloved Halloween and Disney Channel movies, and is a gift that keeps on giving as new generations discover the film that is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
Starring Kimberly J. Brown, Joey Zimmerman, Judith Hoag and Debbie Reynolds, the film directed by Duwayne Dunham followed Marnie, who on her 13th birthday discovers she’s a witch and is transported to Halloweentown, a magical place that is facing an evil curse. The film spawned three sequels: Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge in 2001, Halloweentown High in 2004 and Return to Halloweentown in 2006.
Halloweentown, written by Paul Bernbaum, Jon Cooksey and Ali Marie Matheson, holds a score of 83 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. You can currently watch Halloweentown on Prime Video or on Disney+. The franchise is also airing as part of Freeform’s “31 Nights of Halloween.”

‘Tis the season for “chills and thrills” on Freeform.
The network has finalized its milestone 25th anniversary lineup for its 31 Nights of Halloween programming block for the month of October, running from the 1st to the 31st.
Seasonal favorites return like the cult classic Hocus Pocus, starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, courtesy of Walt Disney Pictures and Tim Burton’s beloved The Nightmare Before Christmas courtesy of Touchstone Pictures. The latter title, from director Henry Selick, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
The Halloweentown franchise gets a chunk of the lineup with such features as the original 1998 TV movie, starring Debbie Reynolds, Kimberly J. Brown, Joey Zimmerman, Emily Roeske and Judith Hoag, playing alongside Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge, Halloweentown High and Return to Halloweentown. Other major franchises on the lineup include The Twilight Saga, Monsters, Inc., The Addams Family, The Incredibles, Spider-Man, Hotel Transylvania and Twitches.

We see recasts pretty regularly on the big screen. For some franchises like Friday the 13th and Halloween, it’s almost a tradition. It’s less common in a non-genre arena. However, other major films have seen some of their important characters get recast for various reasons. Here are a few of them:
Back to the Future: George McFly and Jennifer
Two roles were recast in Back to the Future: Part II. The first recast was that of Jennifer who in the first film is played by Claudia Wells and then in the sequel is played by Elizabeth Shue. Not only did Shue replace Wells in the sequel, but all the flashback scenes to the first film were re-shot with her to make it make sense. The recast here was due to Claudia Wells taking a break from acting to go take care of her mother who had been diagnosed with cancer.

Whether you’re chilling out before a costume party or working late at the lab (Halloween is a Monday this year), October 31 practically screams, “Watch something!”
Yes, there are myriad seasonal activities to be enjoyed away from the ghastly glow of your screens: be it bobbing for apples, carving jack-o-lanterns, summoning the undead, or an overpriced rideshare. But few experiences are as instantly and totally transporting as the ones provided by our go-to movies and TV shows. That’s why so many of us insist on sneaking in annual viewings of our favorites between social events and trick-or-treaters. No matter how scary busy our schedules may get, making time for the Halloween tales we cherish feels in some small way important.
Maybe you’re putting on your makeup to the familiar beats of “Beetlejuice” or working from home with “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” to keep you company.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Fall has come and so has the official spooky season, at least until October 31st. But for some of us Spooky Season never stops, even with the ever sooner it seems encroaching of Christmas decorations into our beloved Jack O’Lanterns and bats.

"Not really my type." Roadside Attractions has released an official trailer for a cute Irish romance film titled Finding You. Finley, a talented aspiring violinist, meets Beckett, a famous young movie star (more "Game of Thrones" though), on the way to her college semester abroad program in a small coastal village in Ireland. An unexpected romance emerges as heartthrob Beckett leads Finley on an adventurous reawakening, and she emboldens him to take charge of his future, until the pressures of his stardom get in the way. It was shot exclusively in Ireland, in and around Dublin, Claire, Offaly and Kildare. The film's "village set" location was in the beautiful town of Carlingford. This one stars Rose Reid and Jedidiah Goodacre, with Katherine McNamara, Patrick Bergin, Saoirse-Monica Jackson, and Judith Hoag, with Tom Everett Scott and Vanessa Redgrave. This looks charming and extremely cheesy, another classic super sweet romance. Here's the...

In less than a minute, our exclusive clip from the upcoming indie thriller Fishbowl touched a nerve deep inside my subconscious. "Punishment" is a term that strikes a chilling yet familiar chord for many who were raised in religious households. If a parental figure metes out punishment, it is invariably meant to be a teachable moment: do not repeat what you did that was wrong and thus deserving of punishment. Directors Alexa Kinigopoulos and Stephen Kinigopoulos' feature film debut, Fishbowl follows what happens to a family of five when their dear mother (Judith Hoag) disappears. Living in a small town, the three daughters -- Emily Peachey, Caroline Coleman, Belle Shickle -- are "trying to cope with the absence of their mother ... and maintain a...

In a small town filled with secrets, three sisters are forced to cling to each other as they cope with loss and a father who's growing increasingly obsessed with the rapture he thinks is coming. Unless a person is a die hard movie buff then saying the name Judith Hoag might not elicit any special memories from them, but if someone was to mention April O’Neil from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles a lot of folks would smile and suddenly remember just who was being mentioned since the 51-year old did take on the first live action role of the tough as nails reporter from the popular kids show back in the day. In 1990 she was seen as the character on the big screen for the first and only time since she didn’t return

I hate to get technical but the first and original April O’Neil was Renae Jacobs, as she voiced the animated character starting in 1987, but Judith Hoag is most definitely the original live-action April O’Neil and despite not being much of a fighter in the first live action movie she had the attitude and personality of the popular reporter and longtime friend of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles down pat. Can anyone believe it’s been 30 years since that movie came out? It doesn’t feel like yesterday thankfully, but that time still flies quickly as things continue to move forward.

No! Don’t run away! Where’s your Halloween spirit? Yes, Halloweentown (1998) is a Disney Channel movie, but that in and of itself isn’t a bad thing; if you’re looking to introduce your kids to horror, it’s better to pitch them some underhands than speedy overhands. (I don’t really know baseball.) In a cynical and bitterly crumbling world, it’s nice to know that a bit of low-key innocent charm still exists.
Originally airing Saturday, October 17th, Halloweentown was a big hit for the channel, and spawned three sequels over the ensuing years. If you’re looking for some smiles, good performances and charming effects, Halloweentown is a fun place to visit.

– Oscilloscope Laboratories has acquired the North American rights to the Tribeca Film Festival entry “November.” Directed by Rainer Sarnet, the film is based on Andrus Kivirähk’s novel “Rehepapp,” about about a peasant girl in 19th century Estonia who longs for village boy. The story of requited love takes place in an incredibly complicated, dark landscape where spirits, werewolves, plagues, and the devil himself converge.

Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not proceed if you have not watched Thursday’s episode of Nashville.
The grieving process has begun on Nashville.
One week after Rayna Jaymes’ (Connie Britton) devastating death on the country music drama, her family and close friends mourned their unexpected loss on Thursday’s episode, titled “I’ll Fly Away.” The show didn’t waste any time showing Rayna’s funeral, with her widower Deacon (Charles Esten) delivering a heartbreaking eulogy by Rayna’s white coffin fit for the country queen.
“She was my north, my south, my east and west; my working week, the Sunday rest; at noon, midnight; my talk, my song,” Deacon begins, breaking down in the middle of his remembrance as the rain poured down. “I thought that love would last forever. I was wrong.”

Back when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows was shooting in NYC, some set snaps revealed that original big-screen April O'Neill, Judith Hoag, was set to make a cameo appearance in the sequel. Hoag's part wound up being cut, but this first deleted scene from the upcoming Blu-ray release reveals which role she would have played: April's (Megan Fox) boss, Rita. Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangelo are back to battle bigger, badder villains, alongside April O'Neil and a newcomer: the hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones. After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop and Rocksteady, to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater threat with similar intentions: the notorious Krang. Set photos during Teenage Mutant Ninja's Turtles: Out of the Shadows' on location shoot in NYC revealed that Megan Fox's April O'Neil would share screen time with the original April O'Neil from the 1990 live-action film, Judith Hoag. Details on Hoag's role were never revealed but cryptic tweets last May pretty much confirmed Hoag's cameo and encounter with the Turtles. Perhaps her character will show up in deleted scenes or an extended cut? Teenage Mutant Ninja's Turtles: Out of the Shadows is expected to narrowly edge out X-Men: Apocalypse for the #1 spot at the domestic box office this weekend but is currently tracking to gross only half of the 2014 film's $65 million weekend haul. Starring Megan Fox, Stephen Amell, Johnny Knoxville, Tony Shalhoub, Alan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Brian Tee, Will Arnett, Gary Anthony Williams, and WWE Superstar Sheamus, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows hits Us theaters today.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows boasts a large cast, but it’s not just filled with famous characters from the mythology of the reptilian heroes. The movie is also including a decent amount of cameos, like the New York Knicks player Carmelo Anthony. One of the people who was supposed to peek their head into the movie was Judith Hoag, the actress who played April O’Neil in the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. However, longtime Turtles fans will be disappointed to learn that Hoag will not be featured as originally intended. As Comic Book Resources mentioned in their review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, Hoag’s cameo has been removed from the movie. No details about her role were ever disclosed, but set photos showed her in a scene with Megan Fox, who’s playing the current April ...

I was more than a little surprised when I heard Michael Bay would be producing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. Would I like something that's guided by someone who has Transformers under his belt? Probably not. But in 2014, the film came out, and while plenty of people didn't care for it, I had a hell of a good time watching it. Sure, the movie had its issues, but on the whole, it was a good piece of escapism, and it was set in a world I would have no problem revisiting in the future.
It's 2016, and with it comes the inevitable Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows, the sequel to the first film. So far, the first two trailers have been pretty good--enough to convince me that the filmmakers really know that the key word with these films is "Fun." This trend continues in the latest bit...

This post contains spoilers for Wednesday’s fall finale of Nashville.
It finally happened: In Nashville‘s fall finale, Deacon dropped to one knee and asked Rayna to marry him.
And unlike previous Claybourne proposals, Deke was neither drunk nor dying when he did so.
Also unlike previous attempts? This wedding, showrunner Dee Johnson tells TVLine, is actually gonna happen — and soon.
PhotosCancellation Jitters: 8 Shows in Danger
“He all but proposed at the end of last season,” the Ep says, referencing Deacon’s hospital-room freakout right before his liver transplant. “But stuff happened, and there was a lot of emotion they had to get through.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is currently filming in New York City. We've been seeing photos from the set plastered all over the internet, and Megan Fox and the original April O'Neil, Judith Hoag, were recently spotted in Times Square. The studio is upping the ante the second time around with a number of classic character appearances, but they're keeping the best one close to the vest. We've learned that a classic villain from Tmnt canon will be making an appearance in Tmnt 2, and if you've been paying attention to the rumormill, you might already know who it is. Apologies for all the mystery and mystique, but if you want to remain free of spoilers, then you should turn back now. Otherwise, keep on reading. According to a source close to production, Krang will be making his live-action debut in Tmnt 2. This source said that the production recently filmed a...
