Leslie Grossman has been playing Barbara Reed in the latest season of “American Horror Story”, and fans watched the character meet her end when she was choked to death while taking a shower, naked.
Or so it seemed. As Grossman revealed in an interview with E! News, she wasn’t actually as naked as she appeared to be — thanks to a little assist from Kim Kardashian.
“I wore a full Skims bodysuit, so I was thoroughly covered,” said Grossman of Kardashian’s shapewear line.

“I got to tell you, I am the biggest fan of Skims,” Grossman added. “She knows what she is doing. They’re incredible.”
That wasn’t the only help she received in the scene, in which she also received the assistance of an intimacy coordinator, something she didn’t exactly understand at first.

Since the days of Mary Cherry and The WB’s “Popular,” Leslie Grossman and Ryan Murphy have been teaming up to make people laugh, scream, and/or do whatever you call the involuntary horse-like sound that sometimes happens when you combine the two. And yet, “American Horror Story: NYC” sees the vivacious actress, typically known for her pitch-perfect zingers and larger-than-life reactions to terror, taking on a more somber tone in a petrifying, barebones shift for the scary anthology that’s still unfolding.
“Barbara is definitely a departure for me,” Grossman said in a spoiler-free interview with IndieWire, held by phone prior to the “American Horror Story” Season 11 premiere. “She is unlike anyone I have played on the show.”
“NYC” is perhaps best short-handed as a fictionally elevated, club scene-set, ’80s period drama akin to “Dahmer”: another of Murphy’s splashy recent projects, albeit non-fiction. Even after conquering four...

The new season of “American Horror Story” is here, and the cast is as impressive as ever.
Set in the Big Apple in the 1980s, “AHS: NYC”, which premiered this week, tells the story of the gay community and a serial killer playing on the vulnerable.

As usual for a Ryan Murphy show, and in keeping with the “AHS” ethos, many of the season’s cast members are regulars actors in the producer’s arsenal.
Zachary Quinto, who plays Sam in “NYC”, is making his big return to the “AHS” fold after appearing in the first two seasons, “Murder House” and “Asylum”.
Billie Lourd, meanwhile, continues her recent run on the show, playing Dr. Hannah Wells, after having appeared in the previous four seasons.

Deanna Durbin dies at 91: One of the top stars of Hollywood’s studio era (photo: Deanna Durbin in I’ll Be Yours) According to Hollywood lore, teen star Deanna Durbin saved Universal Pictures from bankruptcy in the mid-’30s, when her movies earned the Great Depression-hit studio some much-needed millions. The story may seem like an exaggeration, but in fact future Universal players such as Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, Maria Montez, Rock Hudson, Doris Day, and even Jaws‘ Bruce the Shark and the assorted dinosaurs found in Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park partly owe their film careers to the pretty, bubbly, full-faced, soprano-voiced Deanna Durbin, the star of immensely successful Universal releases such as Three Smart Girls, One Hundred Men and a Girl, and That Certain Age. Universal should be in mourning this week. Late this past Tuesday, April 30, it was announced that Deanna Durbin had died a...

The Rules Of The Game (Criterion) Jean Renoir’s classic from 1939 was met with a riot at its premiere and was severely cut by its distributor, available only in truncated form for two decades until it was restored to the grandeur for which it is celebrated today. A biting comedy of manners set in the upstairs and downstairs of a French country estate, the film bitterly vivisects the bourgeoisie with a gentle ferocity that will tickle the laughter in your throat. Renoir co-stars as Octave. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Introduction to the film by Renoir; Commentary written by scholar Alexander Sesonske and read by Peter Bogdanovich; Comparison of the film’s two endings; Selected scene analysis by Renoir scholar Chris Faulkner; Featurettes and vintage film clips; Part one of David Thomson’s “Jean Renoir” BBC documentary; Video essay; Interviews with Renoir, crew members,...

You have to appreciate the efforts from MGM and Warner Bros., trolling through their film libraries and resurrecting titles that only a handful of videophiles might be interested in owning. After transferring these to disc, they are made available as manufactured to order, largely available only through websites. Warner has over 1000 such videos available in every genre imaginable while MGM is catching up quickly. Among the recent releases is one curiosity worth noting for ComicMix readers.
While we are all familiar with Conde Naste’s The Shadow, few beyond Anthony Tollin may recall that there were three really low budget features produced in 1946 from Monogram, all starring Kane Richmond. The second of the trio, Behind the Mask, is now out and if you’re a big fan of the character, you might want to check this one out.
The stories are watered down crime adventures; missing the spark Walter Gibson...
