Saturday’s Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa opened with hosts Ranvir and Manish explaining this weeks ‘Teen Ka Tadka’ concept in their typical style!
Judge Remo then performed his version of Teen Ka Tadka along side Lauren Gottlieb and choreographer Salman Khan. Their act was based on a particular scene from Hindi mythology ‘Ramayan’ where judge Remo played the role of Raavan who was trying to kidnap Sitaji (played by Lauren) and the old vulture Jatayu who tried to save Sitaji was played by Salman. Their song reflected the religious theme of their act. It truly was a spell binding performance and it gave the audience a clear reflection as to what todays acts would be like.
It was then time to welcome the special guests on stage who would form the Teen Ka Tadka. Sana Saeed, Faisal, Dadi from Comedy Nights with Kapil, Krystle D’Souza, Mukti Mohan and Ellie Avram were all welcomed on stage.

Fugly
Starring Jimmy Sheirgil, Mohit Marwah, Kiara Advani, Vijendra Singh, Arfi Lamba
Directed by Kabir Sadanand
Rating: ****
Let’s first get the picture right. Contrary to what the trailers and promotional images tell, Fugly is not a Fukrey-friendly flick about four friends having a ball in life. This film means business. Light on top and substantial underneath, this is the Rang De Basanti of the post-Modi era. Thoughtful and at times brilliant, it tells us a great deal about the state of a culture and people searching for reasons to keep the spirit of nationalism alive as self-serving corruption grows all around us.
“There has to be a reason why one feels like dying for this godforsaken country of ours,” one of the four protagonists wonders aloud, as one of them virtually martyrs himself in protest against the the highhandedness of a cop who has been ruthlessly hounding and blackmailing the four protagonists.

Who will win??? Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa graciously reached its Super finale episode with its top 4 contestants: Drashti-Salman, Shaan-Marischa, Sumanth-Sonali and Lauren-Punit. This night promised some glamorous and entertaining acts, including a very special duo visiting the sets. Not only did they enjoy the performances, their song Raghupati Raghav was also launched with a fantastic performance by Sana Saeed, Mukti Mohan, Karanvir Bohra and Siddharth Shukla.
The evening kick started with the finalists’ performances, since the first 30 minutes allowed the public to vote for them live and the judges to give them scores. These scores and votes were then clubbed with the semi finale’s numbers and based on that, the winner was decided.
Drashti and Salman did a stunning Freestyle act, followed by Sonali and Sumanth’s out of the world Salsa performance.

It is week 12 already! Jhalak Dikhhlaa Ja had the contestants working twice as hard for their performances, literally! The challenge this week was such that all the contestants had to perform on both days of the week, with the first day being DJ mixes by the infamous DJ Suketu, who chose the songs and mixed them for each pair. So how far did the contestants succeed in making their fans happy and fulfil the judges’ expectations? Read on to find out!

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6 just got crazier and full of twists with this week’s challenge, which was a division of the contestants into teams headed by the top scorers of the last week-Drashti and Lauren. The contestants had to give one team performance, which will be marked and added to their individual scores.
The danger zone had Mukti and Karan Patel to do the Jaan ke Liye Dance. Karan was eliminated this weekend.
First talking about the team performances, both the performances proved that it is not always that too many cooks spoil the broth. Drashti’s team comprising of Sana, Mukti, Siddharth and Drashti herself gave a thrilling Salsa performance on a fusion of songs. Beautiful costumes, perfect entries and exists and an even better choreography made the team stand out in a different way. As the judges also pointed out, Siddharth was one wow factor of this performance.

New Delhi, Aug 3: TV actor Karan Patel, who tried hard to master the twists and turns of dancing for "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6" week after week, was eliminated from the reality show Saturday night.
Karan, best remembered for his role in "Kasturi", entered "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6" as a wildcard entry participant midway, along with other wild card entries Mukti Mohan, Sana Saeed and Rj Mantra.
While Sana has been going strong and dancing away to the judges' and audiences' heart, Rj Mantra was eliminated out of the show two weeks ago, and Mukti was in the bottom two along with Karan.
Other contenders for the winner's trophy are.

Jhalak Dikhhlaa Jaa has now reached its ninth week with its top 9 contestants, who are now fiercely competitive and stretching their hands towards the trophy. This week’s challenge was item numbers, and I must say that each pair lit up the stage in its own way. With no eliminations this weekend, the atmosphere at Jdj was surely full of happiness and joy!
Mukti and Shashank commenced the weekend with a Samba performance to a hardcore Bollywood item number. They had some interesting twists in the concept, but somehow their dance as a whole did not match the judges’ expectations. After the breath taking act of last week, this one was somewhere again not a Mukti level performance. The duo scored 24 on 30. Up next was that celebrity who has fought his way to the top 9 with his hard work. Siddharth Shukla with Mohena gave an absolutely stunning Rumba performance, sensuous and lovely.

Mumbai, July 22: Sana Saeed says that the best thing about "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa" is that it allows her to be herself and viewers can see her real self.
"I think somewhere, when the audience likes you...it's nice. 'Jhalak...' is a reality show, people will know what I have become," Sana, known for playing Shah Rukh Khan's on-screen daughter in "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, told Ians.
"It is not a character, which I have to play or a dialogue which I have to say. This is the best thing about the reality shows," she added.
The actress also added that she loves to dance, but hasn't got any professional training.

New Delhi, July 21: Radio jockey Mantra is not sure why he got voted out of "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6". But he thinks that since he didn't enter the celebrity dance show as a comedian, his chances of continuing with it probably got reduced.
Mantra, known for good comic timing and mimicry skills, had recently joined the reality show as a wild card entry with other celebrities like TV actor Karan Patel, actress Sana Saeed and reality show participant Mukti Mohan. But he got eliminated Saturday.
"I didn't enter the show as a comedian. Maybe that's one of the reasons why I am not carrying on," the 31-year-old told Ians.
He is not the first comedian to be voted out immediately after joining the show. Suresh Menon, who tried.

Emotions took over the week 4 of Jhalak Dikkhla Jaa 6 with their family special, but that was the beginning of their next big challenge-their different props. With different and vague props given to each celebrity couple, this week surely had some exclusive performances and unique ideas!
Week 5 kicked open with those two little stars that light up Jhalak like nobody else. Yes, Sumanth and Sonali delivered yet another outstanding performance with a matka as their prop. The best part about this pair is the way they depict their strength in every performance, without making it monotonous at all. It’s that time of the year were we like to review the best and worst films, fashion wise, of 2012.
Looking back on the year, movies have been pretty average in terms of fashion in the costumes, but some films did catch our eye while we where chomping on our popcorn and getting our filmi dosage in the cinema. On the other side, some films had us leaving the cinema in despair thinking what on earth was the designer/stylist thinking!

But I was lucky enough to work with Shah Rukh and Salman in my first film and I would love to work with them again," Sana told Ians. Student Of The Year
Stars: Varun Dhawan, Siddharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, Rishi Kapoor, Kayoze Irani, Sana Saeed, Ram Kapoor | Written by Rensil D’Silva and Niranjan Iyengar | Directed by Karan Johar
The release of a Karan Johar film is always an event for Bollywood lovers. The man who gave us Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham probably has as many haters as he does hardcore fans (of which I am unashamedly one), but that doesn’t stop him from doing what he does best: making good old fashion, high budgeted, and overly glamorous Bollywood escapism.
The students of St. Teresa’s High School (a fictitious school, set in Dehradun) have only one goal: winning the Student of the Year trophy. To win they must excel in the 3 As – academics, arts and athletics. In return, they get a full scholarship to any Ivy League college they want. The...

By now you’ve either met the grown up Anjali aka Tania onscreen or are gearing up to do so. As promised we bring you part two of our exclusive chat with Sana Saeed. Read on to find out why Sana chose to comeback with Soty after all these years!
So what made you want to audition for Soty?
I think around four years back when was working on a television show I realised how much I enjoyed being on a set, doing lines and just generally being a part of this process of making cinema. However, before diving into it all I did want to prepare myself properly for it and perhaps dedicate myself to getting in shape and getting a portfolio done. Once I finished that I thought I’d get some training so I’d applied for the New York Film Academy. I’d always hankered to...

When I entered the cinema hall to sit down and watch Karan Johar’s latest directorial venture Student of the Year, I was completely taken aback by the fact that the room was almost full! This is especially since the film has three new and unheard of actor, Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt playing the leading roles. It led me to assume that it was most likely that everyone was here to witness what one of Bollywood’s most premier filmmakers has now constructed for us following the successful My Name is Khan (2010). It also reaffirmed for me that the audiences’ approach to Indian cinema had now transformed. They are now interested in the people behind the camera in addition to the people who are in front of it. Student of the Year does entertain you during its two and a half hour run, but there are certain...

Beasts Of The Southern Wild (12A)
(Benh Zeitlin, 2012, Us) Quvenzhané Wallis, Dwight Henry. 93 mins
That rarest of things: a genuine, unclassifiable original that seems to have come out of nowhere. It's set in a nowhere time and place, a sort of post-Katrina New Orleans-meets-Kevin Costner's Waterworld, where our six-year-old narrator observes her father's illness and her bayou community's plight with dreamy detachment. It's a film that takes great risks – bare-bones story, non-professional actors, prehistoric creatures, jerky camerawork – but it all pays off beautifully.
Ginger & Rosa (12A)
(Sally Potter, 2012, UK/Den/Can/Cro) Elle Fanning, Alice Englert, Alessandro Nivola. 90 mins
Two 1960s girlfriends come of age in very different ways in this outstanding drama, shadowed by anxieties over the nuclear family and the nuclear threat. Beautifully shot and powerfully acted, it sits neatly between Fish Tank and An Education.
Frankenweenie (PG)
(Tim Burton, 2012, Us) Charlie Tahan, Catherine O'Hara, Winona Ryder.

It indeed is a year of comebacks in all shapes and sizes! However amongst the usual comebacks we have quite a unique one to look forward to come October 19th. One of Indian cinema’s most loved child artists who stole our hearts 14 years ago in a certain Karan Johar film returns to the screens now in full element in yet another Kjo directorial. Sana Saeed or as you may know her, Anjali Khanna from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, is making a comeback into films with Student of the Year. She’s transformed into the quintessential glamorous Karan Johar heroine and is all set to woo you as the college hottie Tania in Soty. But before we talk all things Soty we thought its only necessary that we catch up with Sana about everything that has been happening over the last 14 years. How does a celebrated child artist return to...

As would be expected from Dharma Productions, Student of the Year looks high on the glitz and glamour, big shiny sets, and lots of singing-and-dancing (courtesy of composers Vishal & Shekhar and choreography Farah Khan), and after the rather serious Mnik its great to see Karan Johar back to doing something fun, and more like what he’s known for.

Many of our writers along with their Bollywood love, also proudly proclaim their love for the Harry Potter series. Most of us have read all of the books several times over and have seen all the films. We wish that we lived in the magical world of Harry Potter and in fact, most of us have said one time or a thousand, ‘I would love to go to Hogwarts’! The last film has made its way into the theaters and though the books are still there so we can visit, we will never again wait impatiently for the release of the next book or film. Since we are geeks in both Bollywood and Harry Potter we thought it might be fun and yes, as a way to distract ourselves from the sadness, if we thought of the perfect cast of Bollywood actors to take over the roles of the films.
