At the end of half time La Albiceleste led 2-0 as Messi converted a spot kick in the 34th minute to give them the lead and Julian Alvarez struck with a sublime solo effort to give the South American side a comfortable 2-0 lead going into the half time break.
Argentina kept the scoring tempo to add a third one in the 69th minute with Alvarez netting his second of the match.
The Argentina captain, who will be playing his second World Cup final on Sunday, having finished as runner-up in the 2014 final to Germany, will be keen to hold aloft the trophy on December 18 at the Lusail Stadium.

Organisers of the McM Manchester Comic Con 2012 say the event enjoyed a record number of visitors.
More than 11,300 gamers, sci-fi fans, anime aficionados and comic collectors flocked through the doors of Manchester Central last weekend - almost double the attendance of 2011's inaugural event.
"We were delighted with 2011, but 2012 was so beyond our expectations," said Manchester Comic Con co-organiser Bryan Cooney. "We knew we would have a great show but the turnout was even greater than we expected.
"The atmosphere was wonderful. We look forward to returning to Manchester next year and hopefully an even bigger crowd and hall."
Manga UK's head of marketing and acquisitions Jerome Mazandarani said: "Manga loved attending McM Manchester Comic Con. It was our first, but won't be our last. It was excellently organised and very well attended. Manchester is an amazing city and its people are warm and friendly. It was a great atmosphere.

Okay, so England might have been eliminated in the quarter finals, on penalties (again) but cheer up, because we have a terrific young team ready to take Brazil by storm at the 2014 World Cup.
It sounds a long way off but the first qualifier for the tournament is on Friday September 7 in Moldova with Ukraine coming to Wembley just four days later.
With the likes of Steven Gerrard (32), Scott Parker (31), Gareth Barry (31) John Terry (31) and Frank Lampard (34) surely retiring from International football over the next two years, here’s a look at what our 23 man World Cup Squad could look like, and some of the players we should test out in the qualifiers.

Strictly pro Erin Boag has tipped Ann Widdecombe to reach the final of the BBC One reality show. Boag, who was knocked out of the competitin with her celebrity partner Peter Shilton yesterday, claimed that the ex-Tory MP was "definitely" in with a chance of taking home the series crown. "I really think Ann could make the final of Strictly," she told Digital Spy. "I don't know whether she will win. "I think then the public would do the decent thing, you'd think? Maybe not, maybe she will lift the trophy and if she does, good luck to her. And she will deserve to win the trophy if she gets the biggest votes. "And remember, the last two years, the best dancer has not won the competition. It has always been the people's favourite or the one with the biggest journey." Peter Shilton was voted off 'Strictly Come Dancing' last night (24.10.10). The former England goalkeeper and professional dancer Erin Boag came bottom of the leader board after Saturday night's performance (23.10.10) of the Charleston and were booted off after a showdown with former Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams, who was temporarily dancing with Ian Waite as her regular partner Brendan Cole is on compassionate leave from the show. Speaking to the crowd, Peter said he would miss the show but not any of the judging panel - made up of Craig Revel Horwood, Len Goodman, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli. He said: ''I've ..

Peter Shilton has become the third celebrity eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing. The former England goalkeeper and professional partner Erin Boag failed to win round the public and the judges with their energetic Charleston. However, when the full results were announced it was Shilton and Boag that stepped onto the floor for their final dance. Shilton, who admitted to being "disappointed" with his performance (more)...

In tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing results show Peter Shilton was voted off, becoming the third celebrity to leave the competition.
The judges’ scores left Peter and Michelle at the bottom of the leaderboard but the combination of the judges’ scores and viewer votes meant Peter Shilton and partner Erin Boag were eliminated.
Of Peter and Erin’s dance, the judges said:
Bruno Tonioli: “Oh Peter, what can I say… you looked like a penguin stuck in the mud! It couldn’t quite get going. It’s true, you’ve never done it before, and it’s tough because it requires the timing to be spot on, it has to have energy… and it didn’t really gel”.

In tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing results show Paul Daniels was voted off, becoming the second celebrity to leave the competition.
The judges’ scores left Paul Daniels and Michelle Williams at the bottom of the leaderboard but the combination of the judges’ scores and viewer votes meant Paul Daniels and partner Ola Jordan were eliminated.
Of Paul and Ola’s dance, the judges said:
Bruno Tonioli: “It was like watching Ola and the giant pepper pot. It was entertaining in a kind of funny way. It didn’t flow – nothing in the dance flowed. A pepper pot would have been better.”
Craig Revel Horwood: “The armography was very blocky and wooden and showing absolutely no sign of expression whatsoever. The burette spin turn that you did in the centre there was infantile, I’m afraid, and very very childish. I felt you spent most of the one minute thirty ogling Ola.

Scott Maslen and Natalie Lowe put on what seemed to be a Dirty Dancing inspired salsa on tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing show.
The sexy Eastenders star pulled off the moves brilliantly and even performed a solo section with confidence that we wouldn’t have expected at this stage of the series.

Len: All the way through it I was going “go my son so!” Great hips, high energy, well done!
Bruno: So strong, so tight, so footloose. Always your eye on the prey because you know you’re going to get it!
Alesha: Nice to see you really going for it. You have proved that you are equally good at your latin as you are at your ballroom. Well done!
