Isabelle Huppert is a force of nature. Two days before we meet, she has arrived in Stockholm from New York via Paris. Two hours after she touched down, she was on stage rehearsing. The next evening, she opened in Mary Said What She Said, an extraordinary one-woman portrait of Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots. Then she walked back to her hotel in high heels, through five inches of snow.
Now, she is sitting opposite me in an empty rooftop bar, especially reserved for our conversation. Drinking citron pressé, as the Scandinavian light seeps away through the early afternoon, she looks tired when she arrives...

Before Margot Robbie was Barbie, she was Harley Quinn, Naomi Lapaglia, Tonya Harding, and many more characters. There's no doubt Robbie loves her job as an actor, and while tackling the role of an iconic children's toy wasn't initially on her career bucket list, it's clear she's happy she took a chance with the role.
A month before the highly anticipated July 2023 release of "Barbie," Robbie spoke to Vogue about how playing the role never even crossed her mind. "It wasn't that I ever wanted to play Barbie, or dreamt of being Barbie, or anything like that," she explained. "This is going to sound stupid, but I really didn't even think about playing Barbie until years into developing the project."
And while "Barbie" might arguably be Robbie's most hyped-up movie in her career so far, it's by no means the only role she's slayed. Take a look back at Robbie's best movies below.

In the 1950s daytime programming became extremely popular, with game shows and soap operas becoming a staple in American households. Although the Emmy Awards had been established in 1949, the categories were limited for the first few years, and performers from all genres, and from both daytime and nighttime programs, were lumped together in one or two acting categories, with daytime performers usually left out.
In 1962 Mary Stuart became the only soap opera actress nominated for a Primetime Emmy, for her role as Joanne Gardner on “Search for Tomorrow.” In 1968 a category for Best Achievement in Daytime Programming was attempted, but judges decided that no one was deserving. Outraged pioneers of the genre, such as writer Agnes Nixon and “General Hospital” star John Beradino, lobbied for recognition of daytime television. In 1972 the first Emmy Awards specifically honoring daytime programming were bestowed to “The Doctors” for Best Daytime Drama and to Mary Fickett...

It’s such fun flashing back to Emmy ceremonies of yesteryear, and it’s interesting to see how they have evolved over time, and reflect on how much TV has grown and changed. In the early years, the categories were much different, with no distinction between dramatic and comedic performances; instead, there was a category for “Outstanding Continued Performance” (which came from ongoing series) and a separate one for “Outstanding Single Performance”. Going back six decades, there were only three networks competing, but some of the biggest names in the history of the medium were on the ballot, and some legendary performers presented, when Johnny Carson, Bob Newhart and David Brinkley hosted the 14th Emmy Awards on NBC on May 22, 1962. Read on for our Emmys flashback 60 years ago to 1962.

Margot Robbie, is that you?! The internet did a collective double take on Monday when photos of the Australian actress on the set of her new movie surfaced online, because, I mean, what. the. hell. Margot looked practically unrecognizable when she recently stepped out in costume as Queen Elizabeth I while filming her new movie, Mary Queen of Scots, in London. The film follows the turbulent life of Mary Stuart (Saoirse Ronan), the former queen of France who, after becoming widowed, returns to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. Dressed in traditional garb, Margot sported a frizzy red hairstyle similar to that of Hocus Pocus witch Winifred Sanderson (before she sucked the lives out of little children). In addition to a receding hairline, the recently married star's makeup appeared to feature a prosthetic nose and rough skin. Since Margot is ridiculously stunning in real life, these photos are...

Here’s our first peek at Saoirse Ronan as the title character in Mary, Queen Of Scots. The film just started shooting in the UK with theater director Josie Rourke making it her feature directorial debut. It has a mix of veteran and upcoming actors from the non-American English speaking world in its cast. Margot Robbie, Jack Lowden (Dunkirk), Joe Alwyn (Billy Lynn himself), Guy Pearce, David Tennant, Brendan Coyle (Mr. Bates in Downton Abbey) and Gemma Chan.
The film charts the turbulent short life of Mary Stuart and her rivalry for the throne with Elizabeth 1, played in this version by Robbie. One can think of it as a sort of sequel to Elizabeth (1998) and Elizabeth The Golden Age (2007). Produced by the same people, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd and staring the legendary Dame Harriet Walter, one of Donmar Warehouse’s most talked about and critically acclaimed Shakespearian Trilogy plays Julius Caesar will be getting a cinematic outing when it is released on July 12th. The play’s innovative nature and unique selling point resides in its all female cast playing male roles,, staring Jackie Clune as Julius Caesar and Walter as Brutus. Lloyd’s decision to set the play in a fictitious female prison, with some former real life prisoners as part of the cast, was a strike of genius which saw the cast take their roles to heart and manage to add a much needed freshness to these well known characters.

Star will reprise his role in Michael Grandage Company's production of Martin McDonagh's play
Daniel Radcliffe will return to Broadway as the Michael Grandage Company makes its stateside debut with a transfer of The Cripple of Inishmaan, by Martin McDonagh.
The New York run, which will preview from 12 April at the 1,082-seat Cort theatre before its official opening on 20 April, marks the first Broadway production of McDonagh's classic story about the inhabitants of a small Irish town who clamour for roles in a locally shot Hollywood film.
Radcliffe won acclaim for his West End performance in the play, with several critics claiming it as his best on stage to date. Michael Billington wrote: "He makes you care about a character who, in some ways, is a clever literary conceit."

The CW premiered a whopping three brand-new shows this past fall (with two more heading your way this winter), and now the network has teamed up with Tvgn (TV Guide Network) to give fans the chance to catch up on them all in one place.

Each show will have their own all-day marathons.

What's five centuries among friends? Especially when we're talking terrific fashion.
In The CW's "Reign," the young Mary Stuart (Adelaide Kane) arrives in France for an arranged marriage to Prince Francis (Toby Regbo). Their wardrobes befit young royalty, but rather than the strictures of 16th-century court wear, with stiff frills and angular silhouettes, the costumes are an artistic blend of modern and period.
When costume designer Meredith Markworth-Pollack began working on the show, the idea was to create, "something slightly different to the costume dramas we had seen so far, especially because of the demographic of The CW, and bring in the element of contemporary fashion."
There are a few edicts, though. No petticoats, no tights for men and no hip rolls for women. Fashionable in the Elizabethan era, hip rolls were essentially cushions worn at the hips to make the waist look smaller.

The success of two countries lied squarely on Mary Stuart's political performance when she left Scotland for France in 1557. Similarly, the success of Reign, which chronicles Mary's life en francais, lies squarely on Adelaide Kane's performance as she takes the lead on The CW's most ambitious series to date. Thankfully the network's outstanding casting department has, once again, uncovered the perfect vehicle to let this rising star shine.

The half-Scottish Kane auditioned for multiple projects for The CW during last pilot season, and suspecting she’d be a perfect fit for Reign, the network brought her in and let her choose her own scenes to read from the script before casting for that pilot had officially begun. Two weeks later, she was offered the role.

You probably know you’re watching The CW when you see a historical drama based on Mary Stuart (Mary, Queen of Scots) and the screen is filled with impossibly beautiful young people wearing clothes not quite of the era, including stiletto heels.
