Months into the combined writers and actors strikes, at a time of spiking food insecurity in Hollywood, hundreds of volunteer crewmembers distributed food, as well as household and personal care items, to peers at the Motion Picture & Television Fund campus in Woodland Hills on Thursday.
The drive-through food distribution event served about 1,000 households of Hollywood workers who have been financially impacted by the strike, according to an estimate provided by MPTF on Thursday. Organized by crew unions IATSE and the Teamsters Local 399 as well as MPTF, Labor Community Services, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Matthew 25 Ministries, it was the crew unions’ second such food drive in two months: In July, not long after SAG-AFTRA joined the Writers Guild of America on strike, IATSE and Local 399 hosted a similar food drive at the former union’s West Coast headquarters in Burbank, distributing 1,740 food boxes and feeding an estimated 8,700 people.

Stars: Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Albert Brooks, Oscar Isaac, Christina Hendricks, Ron Perlman | Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn
I often start by saying that Second Sight give us the ability to revisit classics or discover diamonds we’ve not yet seen. With their Drive: Limited Edition, this has never been truer. Drive is a movie that doesn’t apologise for the violence on screen, and the characters that it shows.
When a mysterious Hollywood stuntman (Ryan Gosling) who moonlights as a getaway driver meets one of his neighbours (Carey Mulligan) a softer side of him is exposed. When her husband returns from jail and gets the driver into major conflict with the people he works for.
Ryan Gosling’s character is simply named The Driver, we never learn anything more about him. We do get to see what could be a softer side, but the fact is this...

For those who still haven't seen the premiere of 24's eighth season on Sunday, here's a way to get up to date.
In this season, which is set in New York City, Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is thrust back into action when Victor Aruz (Benito Martinez), a former informant on the Salazar case who is being pursued by killers, knocks at his door. Victor tells Jack that an assassination plot against Omar Hassan (Anil Kapoor), a president of a Muslim country, is about to happen at the United Nations (Un). As a matter of fact, some people want Hassan dead because he's about to sign a treaty with the USA stipulating that his country gives up its nuclear ambitions and financial support for terrorist groups. As for President Alison Taylor (Cherry Jones), she's now divorced (her husband made the first step) for sending her daughter in prison (see season 7) and...

If Tony Almeida can return, anything is possible...
A Fox press release has confirmed that Gregory Itzin will be reprising the role of villainous President Charles Logan on season eight of 24.
Late in the season, current commander-in-chief Alison Taylor (Cherry Jones) will reluctantly enlist her disgraced predecessor to help with a growing diplomatic crisis.
Logan played a major role in a terrorist scheme during season five of the drama. He was last seen getting stabbed by his mentally unstable ex-wife, Martha, on season six.
24 exec producer Howard Gordon told Entertainment Weekly the opportunity to watch Jones and Itzin go head-to-head “was simply too compelling to pass up.”
As for Tony, he's safely in custody, following the events of last year. At least we assume that's the case - but we'll be tuned in to the 24 season premiere on January 17 just to be sure. (And because Jack Bauer is our hero.

When 24 returns for its eighth season this January, Emmy winner Cherry Jones will still occupy the Oval Office as President Alison Taylor.
But there will be no First Gentleman to speak off, following Taylor's falling out with her husband last season because she ratted out the couple's corrupt daughter.
“I’m not married anymore,” Cherry told TV Guide Magazine. “I am the first woman and divorcée in the White House.”
There will be a brief discussion of the divided Taylor clan when season eight debuts, but then it's on to the issue of world peace, Jones said.
That should be a challenge, with villains such as Callum Keith Rennie causing serious global problems.
