As Night Comes is a dark teen drama that takes a nod from the spreading “bully hoodie” trend that was popularized in England with films such as Heartless and Citadel.
Early on in the movie, a very obvious nod is made to A Clockwork Orange and it becomes apparent that director and screenwriter Richard Zelniker was attempting to draw similarities. A bunch of kids who feel looked down upon go out as a gang, in this film it’s on a self-proclaimed holiday dubbed Mischief Night, and start beating up people they deem accepting of the beat down.

Richard Zelniker and Chris Monte have joined forces to launch the production company and unveiled plans for a seven-film slate led by the high school film.
Writer-director-producer Zelniker and editor-producer Monte met while collaborating on the coming-of-age film Mischief Night (pictured) and kick off with Bff.
“It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved,” said Monte. “I bring my history in picture editing, colour correcting and sound editing, as well as the facilities of Magic Hair Studios, while Richard, a prolific writer, comes armed with a diverse slate of packaged projects for him to direct.”
“We quickly realised that the common vision we shared could result in much more than one film, but rather an integrated new company where we can bring stories to the screen that not only entertain but move, touch and challenge audiences to ask the tough questions,” said Zelniker.

Timbaland is producing Vinyl. No surprise there – after all, the man is one of the most prolific music producers around, having worked with the likes of Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake, so he’s produced plenty of vinyl in his time. This Vinyl, though, sees Timbaland at long last turning his attention towards the movie industry. The film, written and directed by Richard Zelniker, will tell the story of five young women who have to make big decisions about their involvement with members of a rock band. Timbaland – real name, Tim Mosley – will actually executive produce, while Effie T. Brown, Marcus Spence and Monique Idlett-Mosley are sharing production duties. Filming will start in the spring.

After popping up on seemingly every hit single during the past few years, Timbaland is about to add his first feature film into the mix.
The producer's Mosley Media Group is teaming with Effie T. Brown's Duly Noted Inc. to produce "Vinyl," the story of five young women facing life-altering decisions about their relationships with members of a rock band.
Writer-director Richard Zelniker's film is set to begin shooting in the spring, with Brown, Marcus Spence and Monique Idlett-Mosley producing. Timbaland, the artist formerly known as Tim Mosley, is executive producing.
Brown has two Sundance prizewinners under her belt: "Real Women Have Curves," starring America Ferrera, and "Rocket Science." Timbaland has contributed music to more than 50 film and TV projects. The pair plans to promote the film with behind-the-scenes content designed for mobile devices.
