The upcoming remaster of “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2” managed to nab the entire original roster for what’s being touted a very “faithful” new look at the classic skateboarding games — but it’s also getting some new additions.
Activision Blizzard announced on Tuesday the full roster of new skaters joining the lineup: Nyjah Huston, Leo Baker, Leticia Bufoni, Aori Nishimura, Lizzie Armanto, Shane O’Neill, Riley Hawk and Tyshawn Jones. They join the previously announced lineup of skaters returning from the original game, including Steve Caballero, Geoff Rowley, Bucky Lasek, Elissa Steamer, Kareem Campbell, Andrew Reynolds, Bob Burnquist, Eric Koston, Rodney Mullen, Jamie Thomas, Rune Glifberg, Chad Muska and, of course, Tony Hawk.
“Modern-day skateboarding originated from a generation of skaters who grew up playing the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games,” said Michelle Bresaw, VP of product management and marketing at Activision, in a statement. “The world-class pro...

Several months ago, we began to hear rumors that the first two Tony Hawk games would be getting the remaster treatment, and fans were incredibly excited with the idea of playing through some of the best skateboarding titles ever. Unfortunately, Activision has remained silent on the topic of re-releases… until now.
Earlier today, the publishing giant finally pulled back the curtain, revealing a remastered collection that packages Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 into one bundle. This is great news for fans of the franchise, which, if we’re being frank, has kind of fallen by the wayside over the past decade.
For those wondering what these re-releases will include, here’s a bit of a rundown. The collection will include completely overhauled visuals, online play (which was never implemented in the original games), and a more robust course creation system, for those who like to show off their creative talents.

The Big One. What is the symbolic “big one” in a film that features motocross, rock climbing, base jumping, wing suiting, boating, skydiving, snowboarding, skateboarding, remote hiking and, of course, surfing as the medium for an illegal geo-political agenda? In the original 1991 Kathryn Bigelow-directed “Point Break” — starring Keanu Reeves as Johnny Utah and Patrick Swayze as Bodhi — chaos is what financed the athletic pursuits of Bodhi and his gang, that lurking nihilistic thrill of hunting for The Big One whilst jumping from planes and paddling toward 20- and 30-foot waves. This Christmas, for the new “re-imagining” of “Point Break,” practicing extreme sports in rare, beautiful Earthly destinations are allegorical acts of natural one-ness to a cell of eco-terrorists who devise high-end corporate heists. There’s a Bodhi — played by Edgar Ramirez — who is Zen Master to this band, to what was repeatedly referred to as his “wolf pack.” On...

The problem with the new Point Break remake has nothing to do with your inability to grow-up. It's doing nothing to your childhood unless you still identify with a man and his mullet. Kathryn Bigelow's 1991 original is still a great film for those of us that saw it when it was released and the fact it was remade into The Fast and The Furious ten years later and is now being remade just shy of 25 years after its original release simply means they're looking to bring a similar story to a new kind of audience, and I'm actually interested in the story they are aiming to tell. As was evident in the trailer and described in the film's plot synopsis, the gang of criminal rogues led by a man named Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez) are killing whoever may be in their way toward "liberating" the world's riches, sending the global economy into a tailspin.

After a look at the first poster and a couple of teasers earlier today, the first official trailer for the Point Break remake arrives for you to give either a "yay" or "nay". Luke Bracey steps into the shoes once occupied by Keanu Reeves as young FBI agent, Johnny Utah, as he infiltrates a team of thrill seeking elite athletes, led by the charismatic Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez). These fellas are suspected of carrying out a string of crimes that kill innocent people and send the world's economy into a tailspin. Deep undercover, and with his life in imminent danger, Utah strives to prove they are the callous architects of these inconceivable crimes. Ray Winstone, Teresa Palmer and the great Delroy Lindo co-star in the movie which will be hitting theaters on Christmas Day. To be honest, as easy as it is to say we don't need this remake, what with...

Apparently the first look at the upcoming Point Break remake from director Ericson Core was shown during CinemaCon down in Las Vegas yesterday and with that comes the first looks at Luke Bracey and Edgar Ramirez in the film playing FBI agent Johnny Utah and extreme sports enthusiast and criminal Bodhi respectively. The duo are playing roles made popular by Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze in Kathryn Bigelow's 1991 film, and for many this remake is completely unnecessary, but it's set to arrive on December 25 nonetheless. One week after Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, which is to say... we'll see how this turns out. This updated version will follow a similar premise as the first as a young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Bracey), infiltrates a cunning team of thrill seeking elite athletes, led by the charismatic Bodhi (Ramirez). The athletes are suspected of carrying out a string...

Growing up, watching Espn’s X Games was a necessity at the cool kids' lunch table at school. It collectively blew our minds to see our skateboarding idols soar through the air or Moto X riders launching a 350-pound machine off a dirt ramp while trying to land a can-can. At the time, the "Tony Hawk Pro Skater" video game franchise further propelled skateboarding into the pop culture mainstream.
So, it was a pleasure and a dream come true to spend a day at this year’s X-Games in Los Angeles. As you walk up to the L.A. Live district – the headquarters of the Games, which includes the Staples Center, Nokia Theatre, Gilbert Lindsay Plaza and Chick Hearn Court – you can’t help but be overcome by the sights.
