Clock Tower fans got a surprise earlier today with the announcement that WayForward and Limited Run Games will be bringing the cult Survival Horror classic to a new generation in early 2024. An enhanced “Port+” version of the Super Famicom version of Clock Tower is currently in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
Not counting the PS1 version (which in itself was enhanced from the Super Famicom version), this marks the first time that the original Clock Tower will be officially be translated and released in North America and Europe. Using Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine, this new edition of Clock Tower will maintain the gameplay, graphics, and sound of the original version, but will also add modern features and enhancements.

Clock Tower is the classic survival horror game inspired by the work of Dario Argento. Here's why the game is still so important!
In the opening moments of Dario Argento's Phenomena, a young traveler stumbles through the woods, abandoned by her tour bus. She finds a house and enters, looking for help. That's a mistake. A serial killer stabs the teenager repeatedly with a pair of scissors, then shoves her through a second-story window.
It's a brutal and strange beginning to an even stranger movie, and it's a perfect jumping off point for one of Argento's best films. It's also the inspiration for Scissorman, one of the most memorable villains in video game history and the star of 1995's unsettling survival horror point-and-click adventure Clock Tower.
Clock Tower may not be a massive franchise like Resident Evil or Silent Hill, but it's just as terrifying as either of those games.

There's straight-to-video shame, then there's straight to TV shame. The following small screen follow-ups, then, are the most shameful of the lot.
Please note, however: all of the following first aired on the small screen. They may have ended up on DVD later, but they're telly specials through and through...
1. Home Alone 5: The Holiday Heist (2012)
Original film: Home Alone (1990)
Returning cast members: None
Stars: Christian Martyn, Jodelle Ferland, Malcolm McDowell
You'll remember the first two, and might have a dim recollection of the third - new kid, new goons - and the fourth will, hopefully, mean nothing to you (old kid, new actor playing kid, old goons, new actors playing goons, shot in South Africa).
The fifth, however, is the biggest stinker of the lot, a schmaltzy Christmas edition with a new kid, new family and new goons. Also, Malcolm McDowell - of Clockwork Orange fame - is in it,...

- Looks like Fox Searchlight and Reese Witherspoon are taking Spring cleaning to heart - they have dusted off a decade's worth of inactivity on the book-to-screen translation of author Jen Sacks' Nice. Variety reports that the project which was originally set up by Warner in 98' and had Helen Hunt on board, will now see television writer Ben Queen give the project a better outlook. Witherspoon's name gets thrown around a lot as a potential player, so don't bank on her taking the principle lead, but for the time being she is down to produce alongside Keri Selig, Gayla Nethercott and Jennifer Simpson. The protag is a magazine writer who accidentally kills her boyfriend. She finds a way to get rid of the body and discovers that killing boyfriends is easier than breaking up with them. Sounds like a cute version of American Psycho. ...

The director of The Hills Have Eyes II is teaming up with the star of the Prom Night remake for what should logically add up to the worst horror film ever made. Variety reports that Brittany Snow has been cast as the lead in the video game adaptation Clock Tower, to be directed by Martin Weisz. Again playing a teenager, despite the fact that she looks 40 (she's really 22), Snow will apparently fill the role of Jennifer Simpson, a 15-year-old girl Variety describes as "a troubled psychiatric patient who witnessed her parents die and is constantly plagued by religious imagery."

TORONTO -- In a journey as bizarre as the one taken by its heroine, producer Reese Witherspoon's fable "Penelope" has landed at Summit Entertainment.
Summit has picked up North American rights to Mark Palansky's $15 million feature debut. Christina Ricci stars as a pig-snouted girl looking for love, with a cast that includes James McAvoy, Catherine O'Hara, Richard E. Grant, Peter Dinklage and Witherspoon. Summit plans a Feb. 1 release.
"Penelope" was the belle of the ball at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, where it had a world premiere at one of the fest's Gala screenings. It was a centerpiece of ICM's burgeoning indie division, produced by Stone Village Pictures' Scott Steindorff with Type A Films' Jennifer Simpson and Witherspoon. "Penelope" seemed to have a happy ending in October, when it was picked up for theatrical release by IFC Films and home video and TV distribution by the Weinstein Co. in North America.
