The Dceu will grow to include a Blue Beetle movie, making Jaime Reyes the first Latino superhero to headline a movie.
There's a Blue Beetle movie coming, as Warner Bros. continues to keep the Dceu alive and well.
Jaime Reyes is a teenager who finds a mysterious, magically powered scarab, that soon binds with his body, allowing him to manifest a powerful exoskeleton, fly, and project energy. A little bit Power Rangers, a little bit classic DC superhero, it's easy to see how Blue Beetle will translate to the screen. The Wrap reports that Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (the upcoming remake of Miss Bala) has landed the writing job, and Zev Foreman will produce. The Jaime Reyes version of Blue Beetle was created by Keith Giffen, John Rogers, and Cully Hamner in 2005.
There's a legacy element to Jaime's story, as well. That magical scarab once belonged to Dan Garrett,...

Following in the footsteps of fellow former wrestlers Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kane Hodder, Steve Austin’s recent forays into acting have generally been forgettable. However, unlike Johnson’s constant action man status and Hodder’s typecasting as a horror villain, Austin at least attempts to tackle something more than the benign with Born to Fight, released this week on Blu-ray and DVD.
Matthew’s (Daniel Magder) first day at his new school inevitably turns sour when his nerd-like tendencies soon attract the attention of the school bullies, most notably the school’s undisputed boxing champ Hector (Jaren Brandt Bartlett). When an innocent initiation challenge leads him to being humiliated and roughed up by Hector, in steps the janitor, a muscle-bound retired fighter named Dan (Steve Austin), who comes to Matthew’s rescue and suggests that he joins the school’s boxing club. Born To Fight
Stars: ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, Daniel Magder, Jaren Brandt Bartlett, Janet Kidder, Emma Grabinsky | Written by Evan Jacobs, Jack Nasser | Directed by Anne Wheeler
Former WWE superstar ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is back with Born To Fight, aka Knockout, another direct to DVD movie for producer Jack Nasser, who both previously worked together on Damage, The Stranger and the awesome Hunt to Kill. Besides producing Nasser also co-writes, with Evan Jacobs (Doughboys), this Karate Kid-esque underdog story of a nerd who learns to box, get the girl and beat the high school bully.
So far so Karate KId right? Well yes and no. Born To Fight does follow the now typical beatdown, train, fight, win formula that was made famous by Mr. Miyagi and co. in the 80s, but it has a lot, and I mean a Lot, in common with the underrated 90′s action movie Showdown,...

The Toronto International Film Festival media blurb for Simon Davidson’s debut feature, The Odds, likens it to a combination of Rounders and Brick. While this statement is true to a point, the comparisons remain solely on the surface. Poker plays a very small role—as gambling in general looms large—and while the plot concerns teenagers who are way over their heads in adult matters and murder, the hyper-reality of Rian Johnson’s contemporary classic is nowhere to be seen. Such broad generalizations end up doing the film a disservice by trying to pigeonhole it into a set of parameters the target audience will be familiar with. Unfortunately, The Odds can’t live up to those lofty expectations, but that doesn’t mean Davidson hasn’t crafted an entertaining thriller worth a look. Just like its lead character Desson Orr, though, it deserves a chance to stand on its own two feet.

"Booster"
There are times when a story has all the makings of a great tale for episodic television. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always translate the way we want them to. Now, it’s not that “Booster” is a bad episode, but it has more than its fair share of things going against it. Again, there are strengths to “Booster” - each of which make it an entertaining entry into the ongoing Smallville saga - but the lateness of its arrival was always going to cause problems.
Soap opera star Eric Martsolf is amazing in the role, and really breathes life into Booster Gold. He has the natural charm of a salesman, with a winning smile and plenty of bravado to go around. And worse, he seems to know who Clark is. He calls Clark out, basically telling him to make a stand or stand back, because he’s out to...

It’s been a rough year for sports heroes. Barry Bonds was busted for lying about steroids. Tiger Woods was exposed as a philanderer. Kobe Bryant was caught on video using a hateful slur to disparage a referee. And then, of course, there was that certain one-time championship talent, celebrated for its ability to outlast, outwit, and outplay his competitors, who still can’t straighten himself out with the Internal Revenue Service. The flaws and foibles and offensive f-ups of our cultural idols offer us an invitation to reflect on our own moral integrity, capacity for forgiveness, philosophy of justice,...

Knockout Directed by: Anne Wheeler Written by: Joseph Nasser Starring: Steve Austin, Daniel Magder and Jaren Brandt Bartlett Remember when Superbad came out and there was discussion about whether or not high school kids actually talked with such aggressive swearing? Well, here's the other side of that debate, a modern high school movie where the best taunt the kids can come up with is, “bird brain.” For the record, kids don't talk like that either. Surrounding that tepid dialogue are sub-par performances and an all too familiar narrative, that of the picked on new kid who trains in a sport in order to take on his oppressor. Knockout even makes reference to The Karate Kid, and it should. In fact, Knockout should be bowing down to its all mighty master and inspiration, since aside from boxing, this might as well be the same movie. Well, that and the Mr. Miyagi...

The final episodes of "Smallville" are rolling out, and we're left with only a few more adventures to be had with The CW's Superman and his supporting cast. That doesn't mean they're letting up on the throttle, though.
The network has posted a trio of new previews for the series that feature another peek at this week's debut of Booster Gold (Eric Martsolf) and a look ahead to the two-hour series finale. Appropriately titled "Booster," the new episode is written by comics scribe and DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, but Booster Gold isn't the only new addition to the "Smallville"-verse. Blue Beetle also makes his live-action debut, with Jaren Brandt Bartlett playing Jaimie Reyes.
You can check out the "Booster" preview below, as well as the episode synopsis and a pair of previews for the May 13 series finale.

When Smallville returns from its prolonged hiatus, viewers will be treated to the return of Jonathan Schneider as an alternate version of Clark's father.
A week later, meanwhile, they'll meet an entirely new character.
On April 22, Eric Martsolf guest stars as Booster Gold, a favorite to long-time DC Comic fans, someone described as a glory-seeking showboat from the future.
"The episode takes place in Booster's very early stages where he's at his conceited best, where he believes he can do whatever he wants," Martsolf told TV Guide, adding that his behavior will shock a Clark Kent who wants to remain more in the background.
Geoff Johns, a popular comic book scribe, wrote the episode, and says "the one thing Booster does prove to Clark is that people want to look up to this guy. They want to be inspired."

“The episode takes place in Booster’s very early stages where he’s at his conceited best, where he believes he can do whatever he wants. He’s gonna stay for the photo op and bask in the glory of his heroic efforts.”

As reported here earlier, two of DC Comics’ fan favorites – Booster Gold and Blue Beetle – will make an appearance on Smallville. The episode, 'Booster' is scheduled to air on April 22, and is directed by none other than Clark Kent himself, Tom Welling. We have the first official picture of the pair of heroes as they will appear on the episode.
According to Eric Martsoff, the actor portraying Booster Gold:
'The episode takes place in Booster's very early stages where he's at his conceited best, where he believes he can do whatever he wants. He's gonna stay for the photo op and bask in the glory of his heroic efforts. [The episode is] rich in comic book history, but it's also a vehicle for Clark to start to embrace the marketability of Superman and what he could potentially be.'
The episode is penned by Geoff Johns, who has written the previous Smallville episodes ‘Absolute Justice' and 'Legion'.

Now halfway through its 10th and final season, The CW’s Smallville covered a lot of ground prior to the holiday break -– including but not limited to Clark (played by Tom Welling) getting glimpses of his super future self, the introduction of Darkseid and his malevolent minions, the “outing” of Oliver Queen, and a certain marriage proposal. Still, there is much to be done over this next salvo of episodes kicking off Friday at 8/7c, if the series is to end its run the way we all suspect it will.

We won’t presume if and when we might see Tom Welling’s Clark Kent don his birthright duds and become the big “S” on the final season of "Smallville,” but that doesn’t mean we can’t guess that actually seeing Superman might be, if anything, a grand finale to CW’s record-breaking series.

No CW Official Description is out as yet and as earlier reported Days of Our Lives actor Eric Martsolf is playing the part of DC superhero from the future Booster Gold.
