Michele Fitzgerald executed an impressive season of The Challenge as she navigated the complexities of a large alliance in Battle For a New Champion.
Unfortunately, her hard work behind the scenes, playing the political game, cultivating friendships, and managing various personalities in her alliance helped many of her friends get farther than she did.
In Episode 17, viewers watched Michele get purged after being the first to fall into the water during the Drumroll daily challenge.
With that sudden drop, her chance at reaching her first-ever final on the show and possibly winning came crashing down.
She revealed after her exit that she was proud of her gameplay during the season but is now “grateful for a break.”
Note that this report may contain spoilers for upcoming The Challenge seasons on MTV.

Wes Bergmann recently explained that The Challenge is more difficult than Survivor. Pic credit: MTV’s The Challenge/YouTube
Since CBS’ The Challenge: USA arrived as a spinoff of MTV’s competition show, debates have started about the show’s difficulty compared to other reality TV competition shows.
A hot take arrived last week courtesy of former Survivor winner Tyson Apostol, saying his daughter asked whether Survivor or The Challenge was harder, and he told her it was the CBS show.
While he wasn’t necessarily responding to Tyson’s comments, Wes Bergmann has some thoughts about that, providing his hot take while talking with his friend and castmate, Devin Walker.
Wes, a two-time Challenge winner and recent All Stars 3 champion, appeared as a guest on the debut of Devin’s new podcast with Vegas Insider called Bet on Devin.

As the old saying goes, once you reach the top, the only way to go is down. Perhaps that’s a part of the reason why so many “Survivor” winners never returned to play again. There have been 39 winners over the past 41 seasons, and of those a whopping 27 played multiple times. Thus, over the past two decades, 12 “Survivor” champions took home the 1 million check and never looked back — or were never asked back. See the full list below.
Several winners found success on their second go-around, like Amber Brkich (“All-Stars”) and Parvati Shallow (“Micronesia”). For others it took a long while to get there, like Rob Mariano (“Redemption Island”), who didn’t prevail until his fourth season.
Some of the most recent champs like Chris Underwood (Season 38), Tommy Sheehan (Season 39) and Erika Casupanan (Season 41) haven’t had a chance to return to the game quite yet, but we’re optimistic...

“Survivor: Winners at War” may purport to decide the best winner of all time, but 18 former champions could plausibly dispute that. While Season 40 does have “Survivor” legends like Rob Mariano, Parvati Shallow and Sandra Diaz-Twine, it does not include every past winner. For instance, the first two winners, Richard Hatch and Tina Wesson, are missing from the “Winners at War” cast despite being from two of the most-watched seasons in the show’s history. Check out our photos above of all 18 “Survivor” winners not on the Season 40 cast.

“Survivor” fans, there is good news and bad news when it comes to the upcoming 40th season, “Winners at War.” The good? If your favorite former players are voted out of the game there’s still a chance they can win. The bad? That’s because (spoiler alert!) the Edge of Extinction is back in play.
This controversial twist first popped up in Season 38 when memorable castaway Reem Daly became the first player voted out. Upon walking out of tribal council she was presented with a decision: stay in the game by boating to Extinction Island, or end her experience right then and there? As it turns out every castaway chose the boat option, though two — Keith Sowell and Wendy Diaz — quit not long after they arrived on the deserted island.

You can’t say that the recently completed 39th season of CBS’ enduring reality show “Survivor” didn’t lack for drama — even if much of it was the result of questionable behavior beyond the normal routine of the show.
Top most was the inappropriate touching accusations by Kellee Kim against Dan Spilo, a bad situation made worst when the network and the producers dragged their feet on fully addressing the matter. That allowed two female contestants to exploit the situation to get ahead in the game by telling castaway Janet Carbin that they had problems with Dan, too, and lied about planning to vote him out at the next tribal council.
The #MeToo issues certainly undercut the theme of the season — having former champs Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine act as undercover mentors to the players while cutely hiding out on another island. That is especially true given how Dan...

CBS’ venerable reality show has been on the air since 2000 sunk to a new low in its latest edition. Not its ratings, since returned to the top 10 of most-watched series, ranking at No. 7, but in its handling of the sensitive #MeToo-era inappropriate touching by a male contestant. At that early point in the season, you would think someone at the network or the producers might have stepped in. But no. And matters just grew worst from there as some female players exploited Kellee’s concerns and caused Janet Carbin to vote against Dan to show solidarity with...

During the 39th season finale of “Survivor: Island of the Idols,” fourth grade teacher Tommy Sheehan took home the $1 million prize over Dean Kowalski and Noura Salman by an 8-2-0 jury vote. Even though Tommy won the advantage-heavy season that brought back former winners Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine as special mentors, he wasn’t fans’ number one choice. In fact, it was the fifth-place finisher, lifeguard Janet Carbin, who ended up dominating our recent poll that asked fans to name who they Wanted to join the “Survivor” winners list.
Janet was an incredibly likeable player and an ace fire-starter to boot, which made her a huge target for her fellow finalists. The oldest woman in the game thought she was safe because she had a hidden immunity idol in her pocket, but unbeknownst to her Dean had acquired an idol nullifier at the Island of the Idols, which completely voided her power.

The following story includes spoilers for the Season 39 finale of “Survivor.”
In the wake of misconduct allegations that plagued the 39th season of “Survivor,” in which contestant Kellee Kim and others expressed discomfort with fellow player and Hollywood talent manager Dan Spilo’s physical contact with them, host Jeff Probst told Kim in the reunion episode following the finale that “You were right.”
The reunion episode of the reality competition series was pre-recorded for the first time in the show’s history, amid the allegations of unwanted touching. Kim brought up her unease with Spilo in the very first episode of the season, but producers ultimately waited until much later to remove him from the game, citing an off-camera incident.
“We intended to do the right thing,” said Probst, acknowledging the producers’ and CBS’ missteps. “If this was done today, we would have handled it much differently.”

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details about tonight’s season finale of CBS’ Survivor: Island of the Idols.
The tribal council met for the final time Wednesday night to choose Tommy Sheehan as the winner of Survivor: Island of the Idols. But the Survivor evening — which, on the East Coast, was a truncated affair due to live coverage of the impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives — turned into a much more emotional two hours of television.
During the reunion portion of the night, contestant Kellee Kim confronted host and producer Jeff Probst about what she considered to be an inadequate response by the show and CBS to reports of inappropriate behavior by contestant Dan Spilo. Once the accusations of Spilo surfaced, he was ejected from the show. But the response from Survivor and CBS has left many questions in its wake.
“We intended to do the right thing,” Probst said.

Despite everything that has happened this season of Survivor, someone still had to win. It's no surprise in the end that it ended up being Tommy Sheehan, a solid player throughout the season. Tonight's finale began where last week left off, with the final five learning that Dan Spilo had been removed from the game for an undisclosed incident. It was a dramatic moment for about two seconds until Dean, Janet, Noura, Tommy, and Lauren then all took a trip to the Island of the Idols together, quickly forgetting about the Dan situation. Sandra and Rob then left the castaways behind on their island with one last test to pass. Tommy first seemed like he was going to get there, finding...

Of course, the season was designed to end with a final six, but real life events got in the way when Dan Spilo had to be removed from the game (a “Survivor” first) because of an off-camera “incident” presumably regarding inappropriate touching. (See host Jeff Probst‘s response.

“Survivor: Island of the Idols” concludes Wednesday, December 18 as the final five — Lauren Beck, Janet Carbin, Dean Kowalski, Noura Salman and Tommy Sheehan — duke it out for the chance to be one of only three that will plead their case to the jury — Jack Nichting, Kellee Kim, Jamal Shipman, Aaron Meredith, Missy Byrd, Elizabeth Beisel, Karishma Patel and Elaine Stott — that they are most deserving of the million dollar prize. Season 39 began with excitement as for the first time in many seasons the female players of both tribes were in control of early votes based on a shared interest of working together as women. That narrative quickly turned sour once the merge hit and Dan Spilo‘s season-long behavior of inappropriately touching women became a catalyst for the permanent fracturing of the female alliance we all wanted.

“Survivor” has been on the air for nearly two decades and 600 episodes now, but something happened during Wednesday’s episode that’s never happened before: a player was ejected from the game. The contestant in question was Dan Spilo, a Los Angeles talent manager who was removed by producers because of an “incident” that happened off-camera. After the episode aired on December 11, host Jeff Probst told Entertainment Weekly Dan was “not happy” to be pulled from the game.
“We talked through everything for quite a while, and by the time he got on the boat to leave he had calmed down and was actually very respectful as he departed,” Probst explained. Filming for this 39th season occurred on Mamanuca Islands, Fiji in April 2019. The four-time Emmy-winning host wouldn’t give any details about the specific incident, “out of respect for privacy and confidentiality.” A title card at the end of...

In tonight's episode of Survivor: Island of the Idols, a player was removed from the game for the first time in the show's history. At the very end of the episode, right after tribal council, we saw Jeff Probst approach the camp, which is a rarity in itself. He announced to remaining players Lauren Beck, Janet Carbin, Dean Kowalski, Noura Salman, and Tommy Sheehan that Dan Spilo had been removed from the game. "I just spoke privately with Dan, and i want to update you guys. A decision has been made, and Dan will not be returning to the game. He won't be coming back to camp, he won't be on the jury, he's gone," he said. A message on screen then read: "Dan was...

The “Survivor: Island of the Idols” finale is scheduled for next week, which meant the seven castaways still in the running to win the $1 million prize had everything on the line heading into Wednesday’s episode. On paper both Dean Kowalski and Elaine Stott seemed outnumbered as they came from the original Lairo tribe, compared to the other five original Vokai members Lauren Beck, Janet Carbin, Noura Salman, Tommy Sheehan and Dan Spilo. However, there was a crack in the alliance as Noura had previously contemplated turning on Tommy. According to Gold Derby’s racetrack odds, Lauren and Noura were most in danger of being sent to the jury house in this week’s pre-finale episode. So how’d it all play out?

“Survivor: Island of the Idols” sent home two castaways last week — Aaron Meredith and Missy Byrd — which left only nine players still in the running to win the $1 million prize. Of the nine players left in “Survivor: Island of the Idols,” we think only Five have an actual shot at joining the winner’s list. This handful of castaways have been adept at playing the game from a social standpoint, which means they all have a great shot at winning over the eventual jury. Below we break down our thoughts on those five players in our latest “Survivor” power rankings. In another article we discuss the four we think have no shot at winning Season 39. Do you agree or disagree?
1. Tommy Sheehan – 9/2 odds
In talking with friends throughout the season I’ve found that “Tommy is going to win” is the most polarizing conversation to have. On one hand, the edit has rarely focused on him and his personal journey and hasn’t always cared about showing him in a positive light. On the other hand, out of everyone left...

With only nine players left in “Survivor: Island of the Idols” the path to the end of the game is coming into focus. Of those left, five are from the original Vokai tribe and four are from the original Lairo tribe. A season that began with Vokai outplaying Lairo in challenges and women from both tribes outsmarting the men at tribal councils is now almost evenly blurred, leaving the door open for any one of the nine to outlast the others as sole survivor.
But although technically anyone can still win Season 39, we think there are four players in the game that have no realistic shot at the title. Below we break down our thoughts on those four players. In another article we discuss the five we think can win. Do you agree or disagree?

Something tells us Tommy Sheehan‘s fellow castaways are going to seriously regret not voting him out of “Survivor: Island of the Idols” during last week’s double elimination episode. This New York school teacher is currently our readers’ prediction for who will win the $1 million prize when the Season 39 finale airs this December on CBS. Tommy tops our winner’s chart with 18/5 odds, far ahead of second place contender Janet Carbin at 5/1 odds.

After seven long weeks, the merge finally arrived this week on “Survivor: Island of the Idols.” With 13 castaways still in the running to win the $1 million prize, the original Vokai tribe had a slight seven-to-six numbers advantage over their original Lairo counterparts. Wednesday’s episode of “Survivor: Island of the Idols” will feature the long-awaited merge as the seven original Vokai tribe members and six original Lairo players join together as one. At first glance Vokai seems to have the upper hand in terms of sheer numbers, but our readers think tribal lines won’t be the only determining factor. As of this writing Vokai’s Dan Spilo has 29/20 racetrack odds to be voted out at the merge, just ahead of Lairo’s Aaron Meredith at 71/20 odds.

Heading into tribal council during Wednesday’s sixth episode of “Survivor” Season 39, the newly formed Vokai tribe was composed of four original Vokai members and four original Lairo players. In “Survivor,” a tribal swap can be the kiss of death for a once powerful player at the same time that it can be a glimmer of hope for someone at the bottom of their old tribe’s totem pole. When the Lairo and Vokai tribes were shaken up on episode 5 of “Island of the Idols,” the five original Vokai members that were swapped to Lairo earned the luckiest of draws. That luck earned them the comfort of feeling safe after they lost the immunity challenge and were tasked with voting one of the three original Lairo members out. The decision to eliminate Tom Laidlaw wasn’t easy, but appears to have been orchestrated by Kellee Kim and Janet Carbin, the two players I’m now considering the most powerful in the game.

I don’t know about you, but the 39th season of “Survivor” is getting on my nerves. Yes, it was probably a good time to do a tribe swap if only to shake off castaway complacency — as exhibited by Vince Moua not even thinking about using his short-term idol after his name was written down in a previous tribal council and Chelsea Walker flaunting her budding showmance with Dean Kowalski and getting duly blindsided. As a result, both are long gone now.
But episode 5, titled “Don’t Bite the Hand That Feeds You,” really got me scowling. Not only did Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine get a holiday off from mentoring. We the viewers were subjected to what basically was a blatant commercial mid-show for Applebee’s instead. I don’t know about you, but if someone told me I would get “the biggest reward of the season” and it...

It’s that time again, “Survivor” fans — “Drop your buffs” time, that is. Just when we were starting to remember who was living at what camp, Jeff Probst came along and mixed things up with a tribe swap. Vokai went into Wednesday’s episode with a nine-to-seven numbers advantage over Lairo, meaning all of the success they had at the immunity challenges (winning three of four) was squandered after the tribe swap evened things out at eight members apiece.
