Eight years after Charlie Puth’s poignant track “See You Again” with Wiz Khalifa appeared on the soundtrack of Furious 7 and topped the Billboard Hot 100, the singer has returned to the film franchise with a new collaboration. This time, Puth joined BTS’ Jimin, Muni Long, and Jvke for “Angel, Pt. 2” from Fast X.

Artists Nutshell Animations, who has 20 million followers on TikTok, and King Science, who has 12 million followers on TikTok, have signed with manager Nate Ruff and his company Odd Projects.

Nutshell brings nearly 300 million views across all platforms, and is TikTok’s largest animation account. They have made art with partners like Doja Cat, Maroon 5, Ed Sheeran, 24kgoldn, and more, and are now working on “building out animation studio infrastructure to support longer content to expand upon their IP,” Odd Projects tells Tubefilter.

“The show ended up being something we’re all really proud of,” admits multi-platinum recording artist, vocalist, actress and producer Miley Cyrus about “Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party.” She co-hosted the NBC special with Pete Davidson (“Saturday Night Live”) and also served as an executive producer. For our recent webchat she adds that she “thought the show felt very pure and honest and it felt like it had really good intentions and that really shined through the show. We want to create new traditions, whether it’s doing music that no one’s heard or one-off comedy bits, like getting to see a Pete stand-up show, but you get to be right there. It felt intimate so it’s just exciting to think of all the possibilities that we can do in years to come.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

24kGoldn’s guitar-laced, melodic hip-hop defies a single genre, so it makes sense that his favorite songs are as eclectic as his own music. The 20-year-old rapper submitted his ballot for Rolling Stone’s new 500 Greatest Songs of All Time rankings, voting for a healthy mix of post-2000s hip-hop and R&b with the occasional soul classic and pop anthem. Goldn — real name Golden Landis Von Jones — was one of more than 250 artists, journalists, and industry figures to participate in the new list.

The Kid Laroi earned his first Number One on the Rolling Stone Top 100 Songs chart with “Stay,” featuring a verse from Justin Bieber. The single, which was co-written by Charlie Puth and Blake Slatkin (24kgoldn’s “Mood”), among others, contrasts the Kid Laroi’s hoarse urgency with Bieber’s airy delivery; it picked up 30.8 million streams opening week. “Stay” builds on the success of the Kid Laroi’s breakout hit, “Without You,” another Slatkin co-write, which came out late last year.

VH1 has set a Season 16 premiere date for its hit franchise Wild ‘N Out, created and hosted by Nick Cannon. The network has slotted Tuesday, August 10 at 8 Pm Et/Pt for the return of the comedy improv competition series. Following the premiere, new episodes will air every Tuesday and Wednesday night.
Cannon reunited with ViacomCBS in February following his firing in the summer of 2020 over what the company called “hateful speech and…anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.” The two sides reconciled after Cannon apologized and partnered with Jewish leaders to educate himself, and became an anti-hate advocate himself. The remaining episodes of Season 15, postponed by the pandemic, aired in April.
Leading up to the Season 16 premiere, Wild ‘N Out is partnering with technology platform, Stage Ten, for an hour-long live interactive digital special. In the special, fans will be able to connect with the cast via real-time comments and directly impact gameplay through live voting,...

Hero the Band is looking for its big break. In a different kind of year, the Atlanta rock quartet, a recent signing for Jason Flom’s Lava Records, would be hitting the festival circuit to pick up an opening gig for a bigger act and build up their fanbase in person. With the pandemic stretching its dark shadow over the entire live music circuit, the band and the label have veered toward a much less orthodox plan: They’ll roll out an album in the form of a scripted narrative podcast.

The 2021 Billboard Music Awards will air May 23, honoring the best-performing music on the Billboard charts during the eligibility period of March 21, 2020, to April 3, 2021. While a lot of categories are typically easy to predict by referring to Billboard’s year-end charts, the eligibility year doesn’t line up exactly with the calendar year, which can sometimes shake things up a bit. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the toughest races to call for this year’s ceremony.

Lana Del Rey, Chemtrails Over the Country Club
Though Del Rey’s overall project has remained remarkably consistent throughout her career, her growing disillusionment with fame, and with this country’s prevailing iconography of wealth and success, has loomed large as the national mood has grown more dire. Her observations are somber now, her melancholy placed against a more substantial backdrop. Kids dance the Louisiana two-step in a forgotten bar; a prolonged breakup meets its bitter end; people get high and make out in a parking lot while “the whole world is crazy.

24KGoldn, the 20-year-old San Francisco rapper-singer born Golden Von Jones, has big Gen Z tween-idol energy. Maybe the biggest: What other cherubic, shortie-courting rising star can claim a TikTok-powered Billboard Hot 100 Number One? That would be “Mood,” featuring gloomy hip-popper Iann Dior (also adorable), which inspired a dance challenge on the video app last summer, crossed over to the top-hits charts on Spotify and Apple, and culminated in a November remix featuring J Balvin and Justin Bieber, riding 24KGoldn’s TikTok wave nearly 15 years after his own breakthrough on YouTube.

With 2020 officially getting kicked to the curb on Thursday night (Dec. 31), Ryan Seacrest is hoping to set the stage for a better year when he interviews President-Elect Joe Biden and wife Jill Biden just before the ball drops at midnight as part of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest.”
“We are going to talk to President-Elect Biden and Dr. Jill Biden moments before the New Year, and we are going to put them up on the big screens in Times Square, so they can talk to those who are actually there and probably have a message for those essential workers who have gotten us through this tough year,” he tells Variety.
Although Seacrest hasn’t had time to prepare for his interview yet, the “American Idol” host and “Live With Kelly and Ryan” cohost is looking forward to starting 2021 on a positive note.
