The most anticipated release in the MCU this year is ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ It marks the franchise’s inaugural installment within the MCU, the first “R” rated movie in the MCU, and the directorial debut of Shawn Levy.
While the initial installment was helmed by Tim Miller and the sequel by David Leitch, it wasn’t unexpected to learn that the third installment would have a different director as well.
Unlike other candidates, Shawn Levy had personal reasons for accepting the opportunity to direct ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ In a recent discussion with Empire, Levy revealed that he had missed a great opportunity years ago, one that he regretted declining all this time.
On the set of The Adam Project, Ryan asked me if I would consider doing Deadpool 3. And I remember him saying, ‘I know you’re gonna say no, but I’m really going to try and talk you into it.

Shawn Levy has an impressive list of credits to his name, including Night at the Museum, Free Guy, and Stranger Things. Deadpool & Wolverine will be his biggest movie to date, but it isn't the first time a Marvel project has hit the filmmaker's radar.
Levy worked with Hugh Jackman on Real Steel and Ryan Reynolds on Free Guy and The Adam Project, meaning he was already good friends with both actors.
However, before Reynolds pitched him on helming what was then Deadpool 3, Levy had already passed on the chance to take charge of 2013's The Wolverine!

Shawn Levy is an incredible filmmaker and is known for creating out-of-the-box and entertaining features. After helming the Night at the Museum movies to producing Stranger Things, his upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine is one of the most anticipated features of recent times. Yet, before Levy was attached to the project, the star of the movie Ryan Reynolds was afraid that the filmmaker would say no.

Having already rejected Hugh Jackman’s The Wolverine in the past once, Levy was, however, regretful and jumped on the wagon as soon as he was offered the chance.

When Shawn Levy was offered the chance to direct Deadpool & Wolverine, he quickly signed on not just because he loved the character but because of a major regret.
“On the set of The Adam Project, Ryan asked me if I would consider doing Deadpool 3,” Levy told Empire. “And I remember him saying, ‘I know you’re gonna say no, but I’m really going to try and talk you into it.’ And my response was, ‘I’m not gonna f***ing say no, are you kidding? It’s a hard and immediate yes, sir!’”
For Levy, the opportunity to direct Deadpool & Wolverine allowed him to make up for turning down The Wolverine a decade prior. “When we were making Real Steel, Hugh was looking to do The Wolverine, and he asked me if I wanted to do it,” Levy said. “And like a moron, I said, ‘No’. Because...

The brand-new issue of Empire – featuring a world-exclusive first look at Deadpool & Wolverine, the summer’s most anticipated blockbuster – is now on sale, folks. And you’ve no doubt already rushed out to your nearest good or evil newsagent, picked up a copy, and pored over every glorious word from Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Shawn Levy, Kevin Feige, and their chums.
But what you won’t have read is how Levy became involved in the project. You might imagine that Levy was asked to come on board as director, producer, and co-writer by his good friend Reynolds, whom he had directed in Free Guy and The Adam Project. And you wouldn’t be entirely wide of the mark on that. “On the set of The Adam Project, Ryan asked me if I would consider doing Deadpool 3,” says Levy. “And I remember him saying, ‘I know you’re gonna say no,...

Hugh Jackman is set to return as Logan/ Wolverine in the upcoming MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine. The actor had already retired from playing the character after 2017’s Logan and a rich history dating back to the first X-Men. However, he couldn’t resist being in a film with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and thus came back to the role for the film.
Despite stating his retirement with Logan, Hugh Jackman is returning as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine
The trailer and the promotional stills have fans excited, and seeing Jackman back as his most iconic character is an absolute treat. With some pointing out the lack of his iconic cowl, a still of Jackman from the film has been edited by fans to their liking. One interesting fan edit features a complete costume change and hair, bearing a resemblance to the Dragon Ball character Vegeta.

The upcoming Marvel film Deadpool & Wolverine is perhaps one of the only films of 2024 that moviegoers are excited about. It is the presumable final film in the Deadpool series and the merger of the Fox-era X-Men and the Marvel Cinematic Universe into one. It is one big love letter to the fans who have been supporting the films for so long. But it almost didn’t happen.
It’s no secret that actor Hugh Jackman has had a love/hate relationship with the role of Logan, aka Wolverine. The actor began playing the character in 2000 with the release of the first X-Men movie and appeared in nine films in both major roles and small cameos. But after so long, he kept saying to himself, “This is the last time”, before eventually returning. The same applies here.

Hugh Grant is one of the most celebrated actors in Hollywood, and his perfect combination of wit and charm only makes it more understandable why. Needless to say, his very charming personality and physical features are also the reason why a lot of the roles he has donned have been in rom-coms. But even through those rom-coms, Grant has displayed quite a bit of action.

However, one time, this display of action in a similar ruthless manner as Tom Cruise almost ended up killing him. This happened in the iconic film that set him up as the King of rom-coms and is still regarded as a masterpiece, Four Weddings and a Funeral. But that isn’t the only surprising fact, because Grant was actually never the first choice to play the protagonist in that movie!

What is it like to juggle the bright lights of stardom with the beautiful chaos of family life? Hugh Grant, in a conversation with The Undoing co-star Nicole Kidman, once shared a more intimate view of this very balance—or, sometimes, the lack thereof.
The Maurice actor, 63, has to stay away from his beloved kids in London, whom he once described to People as “the nicest thing that has ever happened to me”, while filming David E. Kelley’s HBO thriller series in New York City. Despite the enticing opportunity for five months during the 2019 production, Grant quickly realized that distance did not make his heart grow fonder, but rather, accentuated a profound sense of missing out.

The 48-year-old Titanic star spoke out about reuniting with the 63-year-old Love Actually actor nearly 30 years after 1995′s Sense & Sensibility in the upcoming HBO series The Regime, which premieres March 3.
“It was honestly amazing because I haven’t really seen him since Sense and Sensibility, and as you say, it’s a very, very long time — three decades,” she told Et.
Keep reading to find out more…
“I just was excited to get in a room and play with him in this kind of more grown-up version of myself.”
Kate said The Regime offered her an opportunity to team up with Hugh in a more grown-up and “evolved” way.
“Hopefully a bit more evolved, hopefully with a bit more to bring to the table,” she said of their new collaboration. “And I — it was just terrific, it was just great.

In terms of their narrative structure, superhero stories and soap operas are nearly identical. In both formats, writers strain for literally decades to keep the same characters active and interesting. Characters die and return. Rivalries last for years, are settled, and then rekindled anew. Evil twins appear and disappear with regularity. They marry, divorce, marry, divorce, and marry again. In both soaps and superhero comics, it's vitally important to keep the story going indefinitely. The same approach has been taken with superhero movies, as characters enter a universe where they are expected to be crimefighters in perpetuity. "Batman would never retire" is such a sad phrase, indicating that Batman will be eternally trapped in an endless cycle of violence. No one is allowed to have a third act.
James Mangold's 2017 superhero film "Logan" -- one of the best of its genre -- gave audiences something they rarely see for a costumed vigilante: an end.

Baz Luhrmann’s 2008 feature “Australia” is coming back this year in a new format and with a new title.
Luhrmann has re-edited “Australia” into a six-episode limited series called “Faraway Downs.” The project will debut at the inaugural SXSW Sydney Screen Festival on October 21 before arriving on Hulu and Disney+ starting on November 26.
“I was inspired to re-approach my film ‘Australia’ to create ‘Faraway Downs’ because of the way episodic storytelling has been reinvigorated by the streaming world,” Luhrmann said in a statement. “With over 2 million feet of film from the original piece, my team and I were able to revisit anew the central themes of the work. I am honored to world premiere ‘Faraway Downs’ in Australia, the place that has inspired me and my work my entire life, and with a partner like SXSW who deeply recognizes the intersection of film, television, and music with storytelling.”

Shawn Levy is reflecting on his experience attending an NFL game with Taylor Swift and friends!
The 55-year-old Free Guy director was one of many celebrity pals who accompanied the 33-year-old “Lavender Haze” singer at the Kansas City Chiefs vs New York Jets game on Sunday night (October 1) at Metlife Stadium.
Taylor‘s appearance followed widespread rumors of her dating Chiefs player Travis Kelce.
Keep reading to find out what Shawn said about the experience…
The media frenzy surrounding Taylor‘s attendance was admittedly a crazy thing to witness for Shawn.
“Taylor is definitely a culture magnet unlike anything I’ve seen,” he told Variety. “It’s almost depressing by the way … I could make 50 more hit movies and shows and I’ll still be known as the guy in the orange suede jacket going to the Chiefs-Jets game with Taylor and others.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, before I begin my broadcast today, I have something to say. In this time of darkness, of invading cities, I’m trying to remember night lasts forever, darkness lasts not even for one second when you turn on the light. I know that broadcasting can get me executed, but I will not be silenced,” Marie-Laure (Aria Mia Loberti) says in the All the Light We Cannot See trailer. “I hope you will tune in again tomorrow.” The limited series, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Anthony Doerr, follows Marie-Laure, a blind French girl, and her father, Daniel LeBlanc (Mark Ruffalo), who flee German-occupied Paris during World War 2 with a legendary diamond to keep it from falling into the hands of the Nazis. They’re pursued by a cruel Gestapo officer who wants the stone for his own selfish means and soon find refuge in St. Malo,...

Cinephiles tend to be reluctant to call a new movie a favorite, instead favoring tried and true paradigms, but It Follows is a rare contemporary film that immediately struck a wide swath of viewers — myself included — as a modern classic upon its release in 2014. Comfortingly familiar yet invigoratingly fresh, I’ve only come to appreciate it more since, and Second Sight Films’ new 4K Ultra HD edition proves it hasn’t lost any staying power after nearly a decade.
The plot is deceptively simple: after a sexual encounter, 19-year-old Jay begins being followed by… something. The supernatural force takes a human form but never sticks to one for long; it could be a familiar face, an obscene stranger, or anyone in between. The only recourse seems to be passing it on to someone else via sexual intercourse. Otherwise, it will kill her, then the person who gave it to her,...

“Con permiso, Capitan,” the godlike being Q tells Captain Picard. “The hall is rented, the orchestra engaged. It’s now time to see if you can dance.”
Part warning and part explanation, Q’s statement tests Picard’s insistence that the Enterprise does not need his help, that humanity is fully prepared for whatever difficulties they encounter while exploring deep space. Yes, they can deal with Romulans, Klingons, and even that fishhead alien that Mick Fleetwood played in “Manhunt.” But were they prepared for the new enemy that Q sent them to meet? Were they prepared for the Borg?
The excellent season two episode “Q Who?” effectively introduces the Borg as the defining villain of Star Trek: The Next Generation, whose influence continues in later series, especially Voyager and Picard. The conquering hivemind represents everything that Starfleet is not, a demand for sameness and no respect for other cultures or variety.

Pre-release jitters can get the best of anyone. Just ask Hugh Grant.
He had some trepidation about “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” his breakout movie, prior to its release. That’s according to his friend Sam Neill, who wrote in his upcoming memoir “Did I Ever Tell You This?” about some comments that Grant made before the film premiered, with a bit of his trademark British self-deprecation
“I had dinner in London with Hugh Grant soon after ‘Sirens,'” Neill wrote. “I asked him what he’d been up to. ‘Oh,’ he said, ‘a piece of complete crap called “Four Weddings and a Funeral.” … Disaster. Absolute and utter rubbish.'”
Neill, who starred alongside Grant in “Sirens” (1994) and “Restoration” (1995), that Grant’s career was in part thanks to the success of “Four Weddings,” directed by Mike Newell from a script by Richard Curtis.

Have no fears: The Simpsons has stories for years.
The seminal cartoon created by Matt Groening is back in the headlines with the return of a fan-favourite character after 33 years.
The animated show has covered a lot of subject matter over the course of its nearly 700-episode run.
While it retains a devoted fan following across the globe, it's also been kept strangely relevant in recent years, thanks to an uncanny pattern of headlines that suggest only one thing: The Simpsons can predict the future.
From a sly mention of a Donald Trump presidency in a 20-year-old episode, to a revolutionary scientific theorem 14 years before its discovery, the series has often been months, years or even decades ahead of global news events.
While its creators have sometimes disputed the veracity of the show's status as a modern Nostradamus, The Simpsons' ability to foreshadow seemingly unforeseeable occurrences is often astounding.

Drew Barrymore apparently doesn’t mind that Hugh Grant compared her singing voice to barking dogs.
Interviewed on her own show about Music and Lyrics co-star Hugh Grant’s criticism, Barrymore responded with her own demonstration of her talents, a hairbrush-as-microphone performance of the movie’s big song, “Way Back Into Love.”
“Oh, Hugh… bert. Hubert,” she said, before singing again, “That’s for youuuuuu.”
She also responded to Grant’s remarks that her singing voice was “just horrendous,” wherein he said barking dogs have done better vocalizations.
“If you know Hugh, that is his way of loving you,” she said.
“I swear, if you know Hugh, like, that is his way of loving you. I swear, okay, so it’s funny, too, because there’s this thing going around with him and Ashley Graham on the red carpet, and people are like, he’s such a curmudgeon and she’s so thrown.

Drew Barrymore defended Hugh Grant after he caused a stir at the Oscars last weekend for making things awkward during a red carpet interview with ABC’s pre-show host Ashley Graham.
In the now-viral video, things went south when the model-actress missed his joke about the novel “Vanity Fair,” attributing the reference to the magazine of the same name’s famous Oscars after-party. He refused to appease her follow-up questions with more than a few words, answering that he was rooting for “no one in particular” and was wearing “just my suit.”
Though the internet accused him of being “shady,” his friend Barrymore wrote it off as a classic Grant moment.

Drew Barrymore is proving to Hugh Grant just what her voice can do after he jokingly called her singing “horrendous.”
During a Wired video interview posted Monday, where he answers “the web’s most-searched questions,” the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves actor was asked, “Does Hugh Grant actually sing in Music and Lyrics?” He responded that he does, but he’s “auto-tuned beyond belief. Hugh Grant laughed about his infamous 1995 sex scandal with the hosts of US talk show The View on Thursday (16 March).
Grant was arrested by Los Angeles police for participating in “lewd conduct” in a public place with a sex worker named Divine Brown. He was in a long-term relationship with actor/model Liz Hurley at the time.
On The View, host Sunny Hostin asked the 62-year-old actor about his campaigns against the British tabloid press.
“Everyone thinks, ‘Oh, well he’s just bitter because he got arrested with a hooker in 1995,’” Grant said to riotous laughter from the hosts and studio audience.
Hostin’s co-host Whoopi Goldberg interjected: “But you know what, really, who hasn’t?”
The actor then continued: “But actually it had nothing to do with that because that was never uncovered by tabloids. It was that the bloody police gave everyone the information. It was nothing to do with that.
