It's the dearest hope of every Manolo-wearing, Cosmopolitan-guzzling, serial-dating Sex and the City lover out there that one day, their four favorite ladies will reunite on-screen just one more time.
It's a dream that's been stoked by the cast members themselves – many times. They'll bring our hopes up, and then they'll come crashing down again. Sarah Jessica Parker will say there's a chance, and then Chris Noth will say he's done. Really, it's like the Big-Carrie saga all over again.
This week, Parker gave us a glimmer of hope once again. But let's not get too excited – remember what happened last time?...

When I do my Take Me To The Pilots entries each summer, I try to make them an optimistic survey of the season's new network shows. Yes, I tear a few awful pilots to shreds, but all appearances to the contrary, I'm a genuinely generous viewer of new shows, especially new comedies, since we all know that landing on solid footing is slightly easier for a drama pilot than a sitcom. Whenever I look at a pilot, I say "What is the pilot? And what is the show it's likely to become?" And in that process, the multi-part third question, phrased in different ways, is, "What is the best version of this show and what is the worst version and which potential outcome is more likely?" So I look at something like the "2 Broke Girls" pilot and I could acknowledge that if the show were to focus on Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs,...

The new fall season has officially begun! All this week, Vulture will be breaking down how the networks' new and returning shows fared in their first at-bats of the year. First up: Monday. What clicked Replacing Two and a Half Men in the 9 p.m. slot, Michael Patrick King's 2 Broke Girls got off to a solid start Monday, despite some handicaps (more on that later). The show's sophomore premiere averaged 10 million viewers and earned a 3.7 rating with adults under 50. It was the top scripted series on the night in the younger demo and averaged just a tad below what Men had been pulling in last spring in said demo. NBC's Revolution is also delivering encouraging Nielsen numbers: Its second episode was down an acceptable 15 percent vs. its premiere among viewers under 50, and it easily trounced ABC and CBS in the hour. (The Peacock also released...

Those 2 Broke Girls may be a bit less penniless than they were when the CBS sitcom launched, but they still have a ways to go before they amass enough ka-ching! to make their sweet dreams come true. With Season 2 arriving Monday at 9/8c, TVLine invited Beth Behrs to weigh in on the show’s later time slot and tease what trouble Caroline’s convict pop (played by Steven Weber) might pull them into, as well as chime in on her other favorite shows.

Chicago – CBS’s “2 Broke Girls,” which recently had its first season released on Blu-ray and DVD courtesy of Warner Bros., isn’t about to break the mold of TV comedy. There are some sitcoms that try something new and there are others that merely fit a pattern. There’s nothing wrong with that. We’ve had buddy comedies since they started making sitcoms and while “2 Broke Girls” may be little more than a “Laverne & Shirley” update, it is well-done enough to make its familiarity easy to overlook.
Rating: 3.5/5.0
The greatest strength of “2 Broke Girls” comes from its two stars, particularly Beth Behrs, who has criminally underrated comic timing. She’s very good here. And while Kat Dennings started off a little rocky at the beginning of the first season, she develops a strong rapport with Behrs. Watching these two riff off each other is easily the reason the show has developed a pretty loyal following.

2 Broke Girls creator Michael Patrick King found himself in the hot seat about the stereotypes on the show and the raunchy humor. Depending on who you read, he kind of threw a fit. Then he played the gay card. Michael Patrick King: I'm gay. I'm putting in ‑‑ Beth Behrs: What? Oh, my God. Michael Patrick King: ‑‑ gay stereotypes every week. I don't find it offensive, any of this. I find it ‑‑ I find it comic to take everybody down. That's what we're doing. Question: Does being a part of one traditionally disenfranchised group make it then carte blanche to make fun of other traditionally disenfranchised groups?

Say hello to a very clean-shaven Ashton Kutcher. The "Two And A Half Men" star debuted his new look at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. Kutcher shed his long hair and scruff for next week's all-new "Two And A Half Men," in which Walden seemingly gets a much-needed haircut due to his current relationship status.
"These guys wrote a screenplay that dictated I cut my hair and shaved my beard," Kutcher explained to the crowd, via EW.com. "Watch on Monday, it's a real good show."
After the initial shock of seeing Kutcher sans his luxurious locks wore off, it was business as usual at the TCA's. Will Walden Schmidt be back for next season?

CBS's very successful block of Monday night comedies includes constant hook-ups ("How I Met Your Mother"), blurred male nudity ("Two and a Half Men,") and vagina jokes and ethnic caricatures ("2 Broke Girls") -- but none of them go too far, says CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler. Still, she said, the network has talked to "2 Broke Girls" show runner Michael Patrick King about continuing to "dimensionalize" characters during diner scenes that sometimes play on ethnic stereotypes. With her network clobbering all others in ratings, and with only one new show premiering this season - the horrific Rob - CBS President Nina Tassler took to the stage today at the Television Critics Association press tour and answered questions regarding a number of steady performers.
Among the highlights from her panel, along with those sprinkled in from other network guests:
No, CBS is not happy with the football overruns pushing back The Good Wife almost every Sunday, but “the show feels like a better fit on Sunday night. More importantly, the audience that does watch the show on Sunday is more upscale, more female and very engaged." Ashton Kutcher has a new, clean look (above) and the reason why will be addressed on Monday's Two and a Half Men. You might remember the glorious Shangela Laquifa Wadley stomping it out on RuPaul's Drag Race Seasons Two and Three. And while she might not have taken home the prize in either season, she could well turn out to be the show's biggest star.
The actor behind this amazing drag creation, D.J. Pierce, has been busy filming TV pilots and guest spots, honing his stand-up act and launching a music career. He will also make an appearance this Wednesday on TLC's Toddlers & Tiaras, returning to his hometown of Paris, Texas to act as pageant coach for his goddaughter.

No surprise here: CBS’ breakout hit 2 Broke Girls has received a full-season order. I hear CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler personally broke the news to the cast and crew at the comedy’s table read this morning. 2 Broke Girls, co-created by Michael Patrick King and Whitney Cummings and starring Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs, lived up to its promise as CBS’ highest-testing pilot ever. Following a big launch behind the season premiere of Two And A Half Men, 2 Broke Girls now ranks as the highest-rated new series this season among adults 18-49 (5.8/14) and total viewers (15.5 million). This past Monday, the multi-camera comedy drew a 4.5/11 in the key adult demographic and 11.4 million viewers. The pickup makes it 2-for-2 for Cummings, whose new NBC comedy series Whitney received a back-nine order yesterday.

Is 2 Broke Girls the new Rizzoli & Isles? Now, stick with me. The freshman CBS sitcom features two attractive female leads who work together and seem to be polar opposites. The dark-haired one is working class and filled with quippy one liners. The light-haired one comes from money and is into high fashion. They’re rapidly becoming attached at the hip. And, oh yeah, they’ve already slept in the same bed. Sounds mighty familiar.
The female buddy show similarities end at occupation and intent, clearly. Rizzoli & Isles is about solving crimes; 2 Broke Girls is about trying to pay the rent, but already the show has pinged the mainstream media’s gaydar. New York magazine’s Vulture blog asked if “Are 2 Broke Girls’ Girls Actually a Will-They-Won’t-They Couple?”

Chicago – CBS’s “2 Broke Girls” doesn’t reinvent the formula but it certainly provides laughs within it. The new program most likely to be a consistent hit on any broadcast network makes a perfect fit on Monday nights and should work for audiences loyal to “How I Met Your Mother” and “Two and a Half Men.” With two very-talented stars, clever writing, and a funny pilot, this could be a Monday night staple for years to come.

Barring the success of few sitcoms on CBS, the multi-camera format -- be it laugh track or live studio audience -- has been something of a kiss of death for the 21st century TV comedy.
Naturally, when the cast and producers of Whitney Cummings' eponymous NBC sitcom "Whitney" took the stage at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, the new series' format dominated discussion.
"It's the best format for stand-up comedians," says Cummings, referring to her and co-star Chris D'Elia's career on stage. "It made the most sense for us... I think our relationship with the audience is something you can tell we're comfortable with."
Cummings namechecked some of her favorite series, including "The Cosby Show," "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Roseanne" -- all of which boasted stars that got their starts in stand-up.

NBCUniversal Chairman Robert Greenblatt refers to comedian Whitney Cummings as TV’s new “It Girl”. But how much of her real life dictates what goes on screen in her eponymous sitcom? According to showrunner Betsy Thomas, they do take cues from Cummings’ stand-up, which centers around her general observations of men, women, and relationships, and not around her everyday life. When asked a rather stupid question regarding how a lot of male characters in sitcoms are weaker than the female characters, Cummings shot back saying that the writer’s room is gender neutral and that “men don’t always write like ‘men’, women don’t always write like ‘women’”. (A very smart response from a very smart comedian.) Cummings also point out that she was lucky to be a part of two new shows this season — the other being Two Broke Girls, which she co-created for CBS – and that while she focuses on Whitney,...

Another TV staffing season is coming to a close as, one by one, writers rooms of new and returning series are convening to work on the 2011-12 orders. Overall, "it was a healthy staffing season," one industry insider said, while another was lamenting the system, in which prospective writers meet on 80+ pilots in the run-up to the upfronts, only a quarter of which would make it to series and actually hire scribes. Of the new series, comedies New Girl on Fox, Two Broke Girls on CBS and Apartment 23 on ABC were sought after by writers this year. Joining New Girl creator Liz Meriwether are Joe Port and Joe Wiseman as co-executive producers as well as J.J. Philbin and Josh Malmuth. Three established comedy writer-producers will work alongside Two Broke Girls co-creator/executive producer Michael Patrick King -- Greg Malins, Jhoni Marchinko and Michelle Nader, all as consulting producers. CBS may not have a project like Wonder Woman that’s eating up all the headlines, nor does it have a much-anticipated reboot in the works that has fans hoping for the best (and even anticipating the worst). This year's Academy Award nominees are currently being announced as I write this, but yesterday the Razzies unveiled their full list of nominees as well. This is the annual celebration of "the worst that Hollywood has to offer", although over the past few years it has become increasingly clear that they only pick on movies and celebrities that are already easy targets. As you might expect, this year The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender led the way with 9 nominations each. Somehow it does seem a bit ironic that a Twilight movie is nominated in the same year as the Twilight parody Vampires Suck. If they love making fun of Twilight so much, you'd think the folks from the Razzies would have loved it! Also, poor Rob Schneider... why is he the only one that gets called out from Grown Ups? So predictable. Do you agree with this year's nominees,...

If it's the day before the Oscar nominations, then it's also the day that we learn which movies and actors are up for the very worst award in filmmaking: the Razzie.
Today the nominees for the 31st Annual Razzie Awards were announced. Celebrating the very worst of the past year of mainstream cinema, the Razzies are where the most unoriginal premises, the stinkiest performances and the most hated films of the year get roasted. Last year when Sandra Bullock "won" the Razzie for Worst Female Performance she showed up to collect it. The very next day she won an Oscar for Best Actress. That shows you just how surreal the world of Hollywood movies has gotten.
The winners of the 2011 Razzies will be revealed on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Barnsdall Gallery Theater in Los Angeles. Oooo. Sounds classy! I wonder if they will have valet service?

Well its that time of the month, and the final nominees for the Golden Raspberry awards have arrived. And like I predicted, It looks like Twilight will be winning big! Really last year was a bit of a disappointment in general, aside from the odd exception like Inception, and last year's favorite Toy Story 3 -- the pickings where slim, but not for the Razzies!
It's almost fitting for the Razzies to announce the nominees today, because as you know, the Academy Awards will be publishing theirs the very next morning -- so you get double the trouble. Aside from the lack of great films last year, some did, however, relish them -- and those people are behind the Razzie awards.
These are the people who read our thoughts, and disperse dishonors with a smile on their face -- I would love to say the same for the recipients! Thanks...

As Hollywood prepares for the Oscar nominations tomorrow, the film industry braces for another big award event, only this time, it's for the worst of the worst!
The Razzie Award nominations are out, and the nods are full of the usual suspects. M. Night Shyamalan's "The Last Airbender" and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" received the most nominations, nine nods apiece including Worst Picture of the year!
These films are easy targets and I thought David Slade's "Eclipse" was the best film of the franchise. I guess I was wrong.
Both "Airbender" and "Eclipse" will compete against "The Bounty Hunter," "Sex & The City 2," and "Vampires Suck" for worst achievement in film.

We gave some early Razzie Award predictors earlier this month, and it seems Burlesque didn't get as many nominations as originally thought. Now, the official nominations list has been announced for the 31st Annual Razzie Awards. The awards will be distributed at Hollywood's Barnsdall Gallery Theatre on Saturday, February 26.
Twilight Saga: Eclipse received nine nominations, including one for each of the three main actors and one for worst ensemble cast.
A new category has been created this year to award the worst in 3-D movies called "Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-Use of 3-D." How fitting. There are so many 3-D films out there that shouldn't be 3-D. Talk about eye-strain.

Worst Picture

Twilight Saga: Eclipse (Summit Entertainment)
Vampires Suck (20th Century-Fox/Regency Enterprises)
Worst Actor
Jack Black / Gulliver’S Travels
Gerard Butler / The Bounty Hunter
Ashton Kutcher...

The 31st Annual Razzie Awards announced their nominations, with sequels, remakes, and rip-offs dominating. The so-called "winners of the worsts" will be awarded on Hollywood’s Barnsdall Gallery Theatre on Saturday, February 26. "Razzie repeat offender M. In addition to Worst Director and Worst Picture, the film is up for Worst Remake, Worst Screenplay, Worst Screen Couple...
