This afternoon, the White House hosted its first-ever press briefing with questions proffered exclusively by social media stars.
The event, which streamed live on the official White House YouTube channel, was hosted by press secretary Jen Psaki. It featured in the press pool: DJ and entrepreneur Hannah Bronfman, The Property Brothers, politics vlogger Amelie Zilber, BuzzFeed’s Curly Velasquez, comedy Instagrammer Benito Skinner, fatherhood-focused creator Jordan Stratton, fashion influencer Chriselle Lim, style vlogger and mom Brittany Xavier, and home organization creators Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin.
Most of the questions centered around the American Families Plan --which President Biden unveiled in April to increase federal spending on child care, paid leave, pre-kindergarten and community college, and healthcare. The plan would be funded by increasing taxes on higher-income Americans.
