George and Cindy Anthony
The murder of three-year-old Caylee Anthony continues to make news 15 years after the child’s body was recovered in 2008. Caylee’s mom, Casey, was back in the news in 2022 with the release of the three-part limited series Casey Anthony: Where The Truth Lies which featured interviews with the acquitted accused murderer. In the special, Casey accuses her father of killing Caylee and then staging her death. Casey continues to claim her father molested her and suggested he may also have molested her daughter.
Casey’s parents, George and Cindy, have had enough and are fighting back with their own special, Casey Anthony’s Parents: The Lie Detector Test. The two-hour special is hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist Tony Harris (CNN Newsroom w/Tony Harris) and will air on A&e and Lifetime on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 9pm Et/Pt. A&e is heading to court, live.
The cable network has ordered Court Night Live, a reality series that will bring live trials to television.
The series comes from Big Fish Entertainment, the company behind controversial series Live Pd. Although it will air on Wednesday nights at 9pm, starting August 10, rather than on Friday and Saturday nights, Court Night Live appears to be the network’s spiritual successor to live cops series.
Summer Premiere Dates For New & Returning Series On Broadcast, Cable & Streaming
Deadline revealed that Live Pd, which was one of the highest rated series on cable, was canceled in June 2020, in the wake of George Floyd’s death and after a controversy that video allegedly captured by the Live Pd crew of the death of Javier Ambler during a police stop had been destroyed.
A Live Pd successor On Patrol: Live recently premiered to strong numbers on Reelz.

Having canceled “Live P.D.” in 2020, A&e is returning to the live docu-reality TV space — but this time, the network is trading order for law. A&e is set to launch “Court Night Live,” from former “Live Pd” producers Big Fish Entertainment, next Wednesday, August 10 at 9 p.m. Et.
“Court Night Live” will operate under a similar format to “Live Pd,” featuring hosts as they shift from multiple cities to watch live action as it takes place — but this time via “pop-up courtrooms” in Philadelphia, Tampa, and Chicago. The show is hosted by Vinnie Politan and TV vet Judge Greg Mathis, while retired Judge Vonda Evans will provide analysis.
Much like pre-taped daytime court shows, “Court Night Live” doesn’t take place in actual courtrooms, but feature people are taking their cases out of traditional courtrooms to be resolved on the show. Politan, Mathis, and Evans will provide context to the civil cases,...

Apple TV Plus has launched the first trailer for “WeCrashed,” a new drama limited series starring Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway.
Based on the podcast “WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork” by Wondery, “WeCrashed” tells the story of WeWork, a commercial real estate company that provides shared workspaces for technology startups. The show focuses on the rise and fall of Adam Neumann, the Israeli businessman who founded the company and stepped down in 2019 as its value plummeted.
The trailer shows Neumann starting the company with his wife Rebekah (Anne Hathaway) and developing it into a global brand. Tensions rise between the two, however, as Rebekah increasingly feels like her contributions to the company are diminished by her husband and the public at large.
“I have a responsibility to think bigger,” Leto’s Adam says in the trailer. “I’m a golden goose laying golden eggs.”

Exclusive: A&e has given the greenlight to a second season of Accused: Guilty or Innocent?, the true-crime series made by British production outfit Brinkworth Productions.
The documentary series follows individuals accused of a serious crime from the point they are charged, to the conclusion of their case in a court of law. Producers say it’s the first show of its kind on U.S. television.
Accused originally started life on ViacomCBS’s UK network Channel 5 in 2017 before it journeyed to America. A&e premiered the first eight-part season in April, offering an intimate account of people mounting their defense and going through a trial.
The first episode in Season 1, for example, followed the case of Bryan Lawson, who was charged with murdering his wife. It offered front-row seats to Lawson’s six-month route to trial, in which we meet his family, go inside the courtroom and see shocking CCTV footage of the killing.

A&e has pulled the plug on its popular “Live P.D.” police show amid the ongoing George Floyd protests, two days after Texas media reported that the show had destroyed footage of a man being arrested and dying in custody in March 2019.

VH1 has marked a February 2014 premiere for its latest “rock doc,” although it’s rap and not rock music that’s at the center of this 4-part documentary. Want to know the most common mistakes that prevent you from getting that second date? VH1 has asked celebrities like Nick Cannon, Bethenny Frankel, Fantasia Barrino and the cast of “Jersey Shore” to help them count down the top 100 things guys do that guarantee they won’t be dating (or getting sex) in the upcoming special, “Undateable.”
The show premiers over 5 consecutive nights from May 10-14 at 10 p.m.
“Undateable” is based on the book, “Undateable: 311 Things Guys Do That Guarantee They Won’t be Dating or Having Sex,” written by Ellen Rakieten and Anne Coyle. It exposes the deal breakers that send women running for the hills and leaving so many men wondering why they can’t get a date.
The celebs tapped for “Undateable” will offer advice (and hopefully humorous asides) to improve the dating skills of hopelessly shy guys. “Undateable” is executive produced by Shelly Tatro, Karla Hidalgo...

Michael Hirschorn is stepping down from his post as executive vp in VH1's programming department to launch his own company, Ish Entertainment, which has inked an exclusive first-look deal with MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo.
Replacing Hirschorn is senior vp Jeff Olde, who has been promoted to executive vp original programming and production. In addition, Ben Zurier has been upped to executive vp program strategy at VH1, VH1 Classic and MHD: Music High-Definition Channel.
Along with the executive shuffle comes the news that VH1 has greenlighted three new series:
-- A reality competition series with Sean Diddy Combs that will feature contestants competing to become the hip-hop mogul's assistant. It is set to premiere in the summer.
-- Celebracadabra, in which seven celebrities vie for the title of Best Celebrity Magician, attempting to learn and perform professional-caliber magic tricks. Hirschorn is executive producing with Shelly Tatro, Karla Hidalgo and Chris Martin.
-- The previously reported "egotrip's Miss Rap Supreme," a follow-up to "ego trip's The (White) Rapper Show." The eight-episode series premieres in April.
Meanwhile, Hirschorn's company, which he formed with VH1 senior vp celebrity talent development Stella Stolper, is aiming to "marry formats and talent" focusing mostly on unscripted programming. Chris Choun, former vp production management/executive in charge of production at VH1, will be head of production at Ish.
