The Smiths’ Johnny Marr has taken to Twitter to express his disappointment over the usage of his former band’s songs at Donald Trump’s campaign rallies.
It started on Monday night when journalist Ben Jacobs tweeted that The Smiths’ “Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want” was being played as the pre-rally music for a Trump speech in Laconia, New Hampshire. Then, journalist Soo Rin Kim replied with a video clip of the song being played at a rally in Rapid City, South Dakota last year — an odd sight that would be even more juxtaposing if it weren’t for the fact that Trump definitely likes to get what he wants.
Now, replying to Kim’s video, Marr has made it clear that he isn’t having any of it. “Ahh…right…Ok,” he wrote. “I never in a million years would’ve thought this could come to pass.

Dua Lipa joined Seth Meyers for the latest installment of the “Day Drinking” segment from his Late Night show.
The two “enjoyed” cocktails and played drinking games inspired by “Houdini.” Later, they played a game called “Idgaf” in which they answered an embarrassing question or took a shot, leading Meyers to name John Oliver as his least favorite late night host and confirm he has a favorite child. Meanwhile, Dua revealed her favorite Albanian swear sword and lamented about how fashion designers next think about the “drunk girls” when creating outfits.
The segment arrives as Dua Lipa is on the tails of her latest release, “Houdini,” a colorful pop track produced by Danny L Harle and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker. The track was named Consequence’s Song of the Week when it debuted, and arrives ahead of a full, psychedelia-inspired album due sometime in 2024, which will feature more contributions from Parker.

Taylor Swift’s long-awaited 1989 (Taylor’s Version) has arrived, and along with it, the megastar has achieved another landmark: she’s now a billionaire.
Or at least that’s what Bloomberg has declared in a new report, which estimates that Swift’s current net worth is somewhere around $1.1 billion, thanks to her ongoing “The Eras Tour,” the success of its companion concert film, the Taylor’s Version series, and more. “Taken together, Swift Inc. is essentially a multinational conglomerate with the world’s most devoted customer base, its most charismatic CEO, and significant economic power,” the report reads.
Joining the ranks of Jay-Z, Rhianna, and the small handful of other performers who have reached the 10-digit-net-worth club, Swift stands apart due to her lack of additional ventures, and her “vast future earnings potential.” At that, $1.1 billion is the “conservative” figure, with the optimistic upper estimate of her catalog alone landing somewhere around $1 billion.

In hindsight, the summer of 2012 might be one for the ages, with huge films like "The Hunger Games," "Prometheus," "Men in Black 3," "Magic Mike," "Ted," and "The Dark Knight Rises" (among many others) coming out in just the span of a few months. New franchises, old franchises made new again, surprise hits -- it was a summer that had everything. It even had some legendarily huge flops.
To that end, Universal Pictures and director Peter Berg ("Hancock") suffered a brutal loss with "Battleship," a big-budget adaptation of sorts based on the best-selling board game of the same name. The film boasts an A-list cast led by the likes of Taylor Kitsch ("John Carter"), Liam Neeson ("Taken"), Alexander Skarsgård ("True Blood"), and pop star Rhianna. Given that the board game doesn't have much story, the filmmakers crafted a story that sees the Navy trying to stop an alien invasion.
