This year's BottleRock was one for the books. The Napa Valley, CA, music festival celebrated its 10th anniversary during Memorial Day weekend, May 26-28, with an array of delicious food and wine and a lineup that spotlighted pioneers and next-generation artists. Thanks to Marriott Bonvoy x American Express, I joined the thousands of fans who flocked to the Napa Valley Expo and got a front-row seat to all the action from their VIP Viewing Suite, which featured a sparkle bar, a custom bracelet station, a luggage-tag-stamping activation, and specially crafted bites from La Toque at The Westin, a Marriott Bonvoy participating hotel.
BottleRock's headliners included Post Malone, The Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Duran Duran, Lizzo, and Lil Nas X, who were joined by a bevy of other artists, such as Leon Bridges, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Carly Rae Jepsen, Bastille, Tove Lo, Paris Jackson, Wu-Tang Clan, The National, and Sheryl Crow,...

It’s nearly Christmas and we’ve got a present for you. Next week is TMZ’s (clearly delightful) holiday special “Merry Elfin’ Christmas,” but you don’t have to wait to see some of the yuletide, uh, delights from the snarkiest Tabloid show in America. Because we’ve got an exclusive sneak peak featuring rap star Post Malone.
In the clip, which you can watch exclusively on TheWrap at the top of the page, Post (Mr. Malone?) reveals to the TMZ gang one of the performers who’ll be joining Rihanna when she headlines Super Bowl Lvii in February: Himself.
“So if you had to guess – like, she hasn’t said who is coming out with her,” TMZ host Harvey Levin says in the clip.
“Sure,” Post Malone replies.
“Who do you think?” Levin asks.

For millions of people, one way of getting through the doldrums of pandemic lockdown was through cooking shows on Netflix and YouTube, all of which trace their origins to Julia Child, the subject of Julie Cohen and Betsy West’s next documentary, “Julia.”
After directing the Oscar-nominated “Rbg,” Cohen and West traveled to France to talk with chefs and contemporaries of Child from her days of training at Le Cordon Bleu before becoming a TV star with “The French Chef.” In an interview with TheWrap’s Sharon Waxman at the Toronto International Film Festival, Cohen and West discussed how Covid-19 hit right as they finished filming and how the experience of editing the film under quarantine deepened their appreciation for both Child and French cuisine.

Discovery Plus and Food Network are staking their claim to the holiday movie business.

“Candy Coated Christmas” will mark the first original scripted movie to air on Discovery Plus. Discovery and Food Network aim to grab a slice of the holiday movie audience that has proven to be so lucrative for Hallmark Channel, Freeform, Discovery’s OWN and other cablers. Food Network and its sibling channels under the Discovery umbrella such as HGTV and Investigation Discovery already attract large female audiences, which is a good fit with the holiday movie demo.

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is prepping for a return to normalcy in 2022, including a live, in-person Daytime Emmys at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. But that’s next year. For 2021, NATAS, CBS and producer Associated Television Intl. are putting together a pre-taped Daytime Emmys telecast that will still be a hybrid of studio segments, remote presentations and pre-submitted acceptance speeches.
“The Talk’s” Sheryl Underwood will serve as solo host of this year’s telecast, her fifth time emceeing the ceremony but the first on her own.
“She’s a great friend of daytime programming and a great friend of the Academy, so it just worked out,” says NATAS director Steve Ulrich. “In fact, if it’s not the record, then I think she’s certainly up there in terms of someone who has hosted our Daytime Emmys more than anyone else.”

It started out as background noise and it ended with me silently crying into my wine glass. It's sad, but I'm not even being dramatic: that's really how my Thursday night binge-watching session went. A cooking show is my go-to when I just want something playing in the background while I putz around doing other things, so the new Bobby and Giada in Italy show was an easy pick. But what I was not expecting was to be so emotionally triggered by the feel-good, four-episode special. Hear me out . . .
It gave me a serious case of wanderlust
The whole premise of the show is to follow Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis as they tour the culinary scene in Rome and Tuscany. Giada is a Roman native, so she brings the local know-how, while Bobby brings the cultural appreciation. The visuals from each episode made me equal parts happy and...

In June, two perennial Food Network shows, Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and Robert Irvine’s “Restaurant: Impossible,” went back into production. It was the first time either show shot on location since the coronavirus pandemic brought all television and film production to a dramatic halt in mid-March. They were filmed under strict, new Covid-19 protocols with reduced, mask-wearing crews — all of whom, according to Food Network, tested negative for coronavirus after filming was completed.
Courtney White, the president of Food Network and Cooking Channel, says the network agreed to restart production after creating specific plans for each show. “It isn’t one-size-fits-all,” White tells Variety. “But we did start with: Where can we film with the smallest footprint, the smallest crew — where everybody is very comfortable, and everybody’s on board? Obviously in this scenario, everybody feels different about their own personal willingness to step out of their house.

Discovery has whipped up its most ambitious U.S. subscription-streaming concoction to date — Food Network Kitchen, which the company promises will be as useful to home cooks as it is entertaining.
Set to launch in October, Food Network Kitchen will offer a lineup of 25 weekly live, interactive cooking shows — including some led by celeb chefs Bobby Flay, Rachael Ray, Giada De Laurentiis and Guy Fieri — as well as over 800 on-demand instructional videos, 80,000 recipes, culinary-related original programming and select shows from Food Network’s library.
The service, to be priced starting at $6.99 per month, is built for utility: It will let subscribers order ingredients for specific recipes from online-grocery services (and eventually cooking supplies) and in 2020 will add a 24-hour culinary helpline for subscribers to get tips and tricks from live experts.
In addition, Discovery inked a three-year pact to integrate Food Network Kitchen with Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant, to...

Giada De Laurentiis had no intention of entering into the family business of show. By now, it's hard to imagine the Italian-born granddaughter of famed film producer Dino De Laurentiis as anything other than the Food Network fixture we've known her to be for the last 15 years, presiding over her ever-expanding empire from one authentic pronunciation of prosciutto to the next, but when execs at the cable channel came a'calling, the Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef, who turns 49 on Thursday, August 22, had no desire to take them up on their offer. "Because I come from a movie family," she admitted on Eater's Upsell podcast in April 2018. "I was like, 'What is...

Digital Brand Architects, the UTA-owned talent management firm that reps roughly 140 lifestyle influencers, has added celebrity chef Giada de Laurentiis to its roster, and will work with the Food Network host on her lifestyle and ecommerce website Giadzy.
At the same time, Dba is officially moving into the food category -- specifically the green-eating vertical -- by signing several other culinary-focused creators, including The Defined Dish, The Modern Proper, and Food Heaven. Dba will work with de Laurentiis and the other stars to build their digital presence, diversify audience reach, and generate new brand opportunities.
Giadzy features Italian lifestyle content -- including travel, entertainment, and tabletop products. The Defined Dish (Dallas-based Alex Snodgrass) is a Whole 30 and Paleo recipe developer, while The Modern Proper (mom duo Holly Erickson and Natalie Mortimer) are also meal plan and recipe vloggers. Registered dietitians Wendy Lopez and Jessica Jones of Food Heaven create nutrition-centric vlogs and podcasts.
