Fox Networks has revealed the first look trailer along with synopsis details for the 2nd season of ‘Deep State’.
The new season will expand the deep state universe and introduces a range of new characters, led by Critics’ Choice Winner and Emmy-nominated actor, Walton Goggins.
It will delve deeper into the murky and political world of the deep state. Having failed in the Middle East, those powers are now turning their attention to sub-Saharan Africa and the scramble to plunder its natural resources. This is the first dirty war over clean energy. The series will also explore the origin stories of some of our favourite characters from season one alongside witnessing the fall of a hero and orchestrating the making of a terrorist in the eyes of the West.
As Season Two opens, Harry Clarke (Dempsie) and Leyla Toumi (McAdams) are still reeling from the fall out of Season One’s debacle in Tehran.

Deep State, the Epix action/spy series, returns for Season 2, this time with Walton Goggins as its star.
Deep State made its U.S. debut back in June 2018 on cable channel Epix, showcasing a slick small screen spy thriller headlined by the ever-capable (Shazam! villain) Mark Strong, who played Max Eaton, an ex-spy who becomes thrust into a covert intelligence war. The series, an internationally distributed product of Fox Networks Group, received a quick Season 2 renewal, but the status of its domestic deal was left uncertain for months until Epix's renewal announcement arrived that August.
Not only would fears over the show's status prove unwarranted, but the renewal would come with the reveal of a brand-new star in Walton Goggins. Moreover, it appears that Season 2 will see the show live up to its titular term, “deep state,” which has become a potent concept in the increasingly partisan political arena,...

Is there a hit from the past decade more widely imitated than “Homeland”? Perhaps that’s because the spy serial’s action-packed appeal seems easily replicable, even without a character as indelible as Carrie Mathison. Building relatable characters is hard, but ratcheting up tension is easy. Right?
Epix’s new series “Deep State” creates tense situations that don’t quite hit home — because, artfully directed and grimace-inducingly violent as those situations may be, they’re happening to people from whom we feel a strange remove. On “Deep State,” Mark Strong’s Max Easton is called back into the field as an MI6 agent to course-correct a failing mission in the Middle East. In so doing, he’s called away from his bucolic family life in France — including a wife who knows less than she might and who takes it upon herself to learn what her husband’s been up to.

It seems there was a casualty as a result of Orphan Black’s success on BBC America. While Tatiana Maslany was dazzling audiences with her ability to play five different characters at once, another drama was quietly burning out. Copper was the big, bright star on BBC America once upon a time. But everyone seems to have forgotten about it and as a result it has received an almost unjust cancellation. I say almost unjust because, while it sucks that a good series is being taken off the air because of a silly thing as low ratings, it’s important to acknowledge that something about the show pushed viewers away rather than attracting more.
I referred to Copper as a casualty of Orphan Black’s success, but that’s not a fair statement. Orphan Black didn’t murder this show, but it certainly provided an alternative. And, let’s face it,...

Review Kylie Peters 26 Aug 2013 - 10:45
Copper takes a leaf from the crime mystery genre in this week's episode. Here's Kylie's review...
This review contains spoilers.
2.9 Think Gently Of The Erring
Think Gently of the Erring features sleazy politicians, shameless displays of inebriation, and sharp objects applied with considerable force as Copper builds to a climax in the final few episodes of the season.
The biggest new development this week comes with the return of Eva’s violent side. (Remember that time in season one when she murdered somebody? Yeah, that happened.) This guy Ramsey is certainly a douchebag, but it’s questionable whether that justifies gouging his eye out. Eva is taken to the poshest prison cell ever, with plenty of room for drinking booze and having sexy time with Corcoran on the double bed.

American legal thriller Damages aired its final episode in September last year, and today sees the release of the fifth and final season on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK. But not only that, The Complete Series Box Set will also be hitting shelves today, and we’re offering you the chance to get your hands on a copy of your very own here.
Fans of the show who may have caught its earlier seasons on the BBC, or perhaps caught up with it since on DVD, will already be well aware of the show’s considerable appeal, but for newcomers there’s no better time to catch up. Damages follows ruthless lawyer, Patty Hewes (Glenn Close), and her protégée, Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne), who work at the New York-based law firm Hewes and Associates.
Each season examines their complicated developing relationship, set to the backdrop of a major case that the firm takes on.

For some shows, costumers need only shop to build characters' wardrobes. But when shopping is impossible, costume design comes into play.
Before a word is uttered in a period drama, costumes instantly tell you when and where the action unfolds. In BBC America's "Copper" Sundays, it's 1865 Manhattan.
With the exception of a few pieces -- which are treated like the priceless treasures they are -- costume designer Delphine White creates the series' clothes.
From her perch on an exercise ball behind her desk on the set in Toronto, White runs a very impressive wardrobe department. White's office walls are covered in photos of period dress: uptown, middle class, Five Points, Eva's Paradise (the brothel) and Native Americans.

No one ever expected that the pristine and proper Elizabeth Haverford would ultimately end up having so many secrets or shades of gray in the BBC drama series Copper. However, the one person not surprised at all is the woman who portrays her. In an exclusive interview, star Anastasia Griffith talked about all the surprising sides to her character and what lies at the root of those dark secrets in the heart of the Fifth Avenue woman of mystery.
What drew you to such a dark series like Copper and the role of Elizabeth Haverford?
Anastasia: I think a lot of the rich writing on television these days is pretty dark; and I’ve always been driven more to drama, than comedy. I don’t think I realized quite how dark it was going to be. But in the big scheme of things, I don’t think Copper is as...

Big changes are in the air in the Season 2 premiere of BBC America's "Copper."
It's 1865 and Lincoln's assassination is just around the corner, but the biggest development in Five Points is the return of General Brendan Donovan (Donal Logue), who heads home from the battlefield to restore order in New York's Sixth Ward.
Series co-creator Tom Fontana has described Donovan as a "Boss Tweed like character," but he remains primarily an intriguing mystery in the season premiere. Still, the arrival of Logue -- who has been building up a steady resume of serialized cable dramas including "Terriers," "Vikings" and "Sons of Anarchy" -- is easily one of the Season 2 bright spots so far.
The premiere spends a lot of time on psycho criminal Buzzie Burke (guest star Noah Danby), who carves his initials into Eva (Franka Potente) before she bites off a chunk of his ear. Corky (Tom Weston-Jones...

The BBC America historical drama Copper returns for its second season full of angst, political plots, and forbidden trysts. It offers a world on the cusp of greatness but that is weighed down by the sins of its past. As fans and viewers discovered during the first season, the secret to this show’s success are its deeply conflicted and compelling characters. Helmed by Tom Weston-Jones as Kevin Corcoran, a cop quick to dole out frontier justice, but with a heart of gold, Copper’s rich cast brings the light into a dark world of crime in 1860’s New York City and the black-hearted men and women who reside there.
The first season saw Corcoran in dogged pursuit of his missing wife and the person responsible for the death of his 7-year old daughter. But all answers are not always worth search for as resolution of that mystery brought more tears of anguish than joy.

Chicago – Barry Levinson & Tom Fontana’s very good “Copper” is even better in season two thanks to the inclusion of the always-great Donal Logue as a detective returned to New York City after serving in the Civil War. Logue’s General Brendan Donovan brings a new dark energy to a piece that seems to be getting denser and more engaging as it goes along. The BBC America program is approaching “Deadwood” levels of plotting in the way the show focuses on a part of the world at a time when lawlessness seemed to be one of the driving forces of its formation. This is strong drama.
Television Rating: 3.5/5.0
At the start of season two of “Copper,” Detective Kevin Corcoran (an increasingly charismatic Tom Weston-Jones) seems to be getting more confident and powerful in New York but that power comes with more responsibility and more required wheelings and dealings with the elite.

When BBC America’s Copper wrapped up its first season last October, we left Kevin Corcoran (Tom Weston-Jones) in a pretty dark place. The Civil War-era New York police detective had just suffered betrayals from his wife and his best friend, and the last scene of the finale had Corcoran turning to drugs to deal with his despair.
Copper’s sophomore season picks up four months later, a jump that new showrunner Thomas Kelly decided to take “to get a fresh start but not move ahead too far out so we wouldn’t have any drastic changes to explain.

Last year, Once Upon a Time got off to a positive start in the ratings but then kept falling each week. It looked like the show would be in danger of being cancelled but the numbers picked up a bit and stopped falling. Will the ratings hold steady this season, rise or sink? It's not magic but we will have to be patient.
The second season of Once Upon a Time typically airs Sunday nights on ABC. The large cast includes Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Robert Carlyle, Lana Parrilla, Jared Gilmore, Raphael Sbarge, Meghan Ory, Emilie de Ravin, Giancarlo Esposito, Eion Bailey, Anastasia Griffith, Jamie Dornan, Sebastian Stan, Barbara Hershey, Lee Arenberg, David Anders, Jesse Schram, and Tony Perez.

"Copper," BBC America's Civil War-era detective drama, concluded its marvelous first season Sunday (Oct. 21) with a poignant and robust finale. "A Vast and Fiendish Plot" provided just enough answers to satisfy viewers -- while raising plenty of new questions to tantalize us until it returns for Season 2.
Here are five "fiendish" revelations from the "Copper" finale:
1. Elizabeth Haverford is a traitor. All this time the beautiful widow (Anastasia Griffith) has been supporting the Confederate cause. She's not completely evil, however: She did refuse to help the conspiracy's leader, Captain Kennedy, because he targeted innocent people instead of just burning the unoccupied structures. Or maybe she just doesn't want to jeopardize her luxurious lifestyle -- Mrs. Haverford, after all, equates poverty with "tragedy." And now we are really concerned about her relationship with John Wilkes Booth -- will she be part of the plot to assassinate Lincoln?
2. Robert Morehouse (Kyle Schmid) is a hero.

"Copper" has been renewed for a second season, BBC America announced today (Oct. 18).
The engrossing, critically acclaimed crime drama -- the network's first original series -- centers around detective Kevin Corcoran (Tom Weston-Jones), a former soldier fighting crime and corruption in New York City's dangerous Five Points neighborhood during the end of the Civil War.
"Copper has proven to be a perfect fit for the channel," said Perry Simon, BBC Worldwide America's general manager of channels. "Our viewers have made it our highest-rated series premiere ever and highest-rated drama series ever. Production led by Tom Fontana, Will Rokos, Barry Levinson and Christina Wayne, along with the cast from both sides of the pond, truly captured the boiling pot that was New York City in 1864. We can't wait to get started on the second season."
Season 2, which will air in 2013. will also be longer: BBC America ordered 13 episodes compared to its freshman run of 10.

Anastasia Griffith is now set to appear Cinemax’s Banshee, a show that I’ve known about for awhile but really grabbed my attention – hint: someone give me a screener – when the first awesome promo dropped. I know some would be interested just because of Alan Ball’s involvement due to what he did with HBO’s True Blood, but I’m not really a fan of that show (I know, I’m like the only one). This is one of those cases where reading the show’s text description didn’t do what I saw in the video teaser justice.
Griffith, who has been all over television the last few years with substantial roles in shows like Damages, Once Upon a Time, Trauma, Royal Pains, and now on Copper, will appear in Banshee’s first season finale, according to TVline. She will play a prison psychiatrist who treats Lucas...

If you think America is strange, violent and complex now, and you wish for a simpler, kinder time way back when, then BBC America's "Copper" may mess with your nostalgic yearnings. From outside, a war-torn looking warehouse located on the outskirts of Toronto hardly looks special at all. But once you step inside, you can see that BBC America has obviously gone to great lengths to recreate 1860s New York City for its period drama, "Copper." The hard cement floors have been transformed into a dirty cobblestone road. A hardware store, a tavern with a freestanding bar and the 6th Precinct Metropolitan Police Station are just a few of the buildings that crowd the street. Make a sharp right and you're into a more affluent district of large houses and mansions.
Created by Tom Fontana ("Oz," "Homicide: Life on the Street") and Will Rokos ("Southland") "Copper" follows Detective Kevin Corcoran (Tom Weston-Jones), an Irish-immigrant cop doing his best to keep the peace in the rough Five Points neighborhood while seeking answers to a case that's hit too close to home.

Spoiler alert: Stop reading if you haven't watched this week's 'Once Upon A Time!' Kathryn's (Anastasia Griffith) return to Storybrooke may have proven Mary Margaret's (Ginnifer Goodwin) innocence, but as we saw on the April 22 episode of Once Upon A Time, it also raised the stakes for everyone in town. Not only are things looking even more bleak for David (Josh Dallas) and Mary Margaret, but Regina (Lana Parrilla) and Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) are back at each other's throats: Who exactly is working for who now? Ok, now let's talk about the really annoying part of tonight's episode: You know, the part where we were all led to believe August W. Booth (Eion Bailey) was Mr. Gold's son -- until the very end. Apparently after Rumpelstiltskin became drunk with power in the fairy tale world, his son was given a magic bean by the Blue Fairy as a means of escape.
