In the grand history of RuPaul's Drag Race, commercials play a big part in finding out if queens can master comedy. Just like the Snatch Game, if you can't bring the funny, RuPaul won't bring you the crown.
The queens created their first commercial with fictional products on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 Episode 8.
Some queens thrived in front of the cameras while others had cringy edits. The commercials exposed a few weak links. But did the right queen end up on the cutting room floor?
Jan's time on RuPaul's Drag Race hasn't been smooth or spectacular.
She's consistently been labeled as "safe" by the judges and her development stayed stagnant. In the few times where she did stand out and could've ended up at the top, she was overlooked in favor of other queens the judges preferred.
Let's not forget the recent instance when Jan didn't win the musical challenge...

With some competitions, the key is to go big or go home. But on RuPaul’s Drag Race, going too big can be the exact thing that sends you packing, as one queen learned the hard way on Friday.
Jan was emotional within the first few minutes of the episode, allegedly heartbroken over her Bff Brita’s elimination. (I say allegedly because several queens expressed their belief that Jan was crying “crocodile tears,” covering for the fact that she was actually upset about not winning the Madonna challenge. And who better than Sherry Pie to sniff out a faker?)

In the first 30 minutes of “The Biggest Loser” reboot two contestants are overworked to the point of vomiting while another is ordered to continue exercising despite their muscles cramping up. In Episode 3 a contestant is complimented for losing 45 pounds in three weeks. The network, setting and trainers might be new, but make no mistake: “The Biggest Loser” hasn’t changed, and the passage of time has only made the reality competitions show’s odious premise seem all the more outdated.
To understand how thoroughly USA Network’s “The Biggest Loser” reboot misses the mark, one must recall the original NBC series’ myriad controversies. Though the original show enjoyed commercial success throughout its 17-season run, the series was embroiled in numerous controversies about its dangerous approach to weight loss and the treatment of its contestants. Prior seasons’ participants have claimed that contestants were starved and forcibly dehydrated before weighing themselves for the camera,...

Fitness expert Bob Harper spent a dozen years training contestants to lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time on the original, NBC incarnation of “The Biggest Loser,” a show he calls “the O.G. fitness reality series.” But in 2017 he suffered a major heart attack that had him rethinking his approach to exercise. So when he received a call from the producers of the new, USA version of “The Biggest Loser,” he had questions about what their approach would be, given the way fitness is discussed has evolved in the few years since the show went off the air. Ultimately, it was the idea that they would bring his health issues directly into the show that made him want to step back onto the campus: Confronting how important it is to be healthy, not just thin, was relatable to him and, he hopes, everyone who came...

USA Network reality chief Heather Olander has outlined the challenges of launching new adaptations of classic formats as it prepares to reboot The Biggest Loser.
Olander, who is senior vice president, alternative series development and production, USA Network & Syfy, has admitted that there is a challenge to overcome the perception of previous versions of formats but said familiar titles are valuable in a world where it is very hard to launch new unscripted shows.
This comes as The Biggest Loser launches on the cabler on January 28 and follows the reboot of Temptation Island, which aired two seasons in 2019.
“What’s great about both Temptation Island and The Biggest Loser is that they’re both well known formats, The Biggest Loser even more so because it’s had 17 seasons. It does help in the marketplace, where it is very hard to launch new shows, having a built in familiarity with the title.

“When we brought the show back, one of our big things was that we get 17 years of success on NBC,” Olander, who heads up unscripted programming for USA, said when asked about what changes were made for the updated take to make it safe for contestants. “It’s a beloved show … but we did want to think a little bit about the format and make sure that we’re reflective that health and fitness today. 2020 is very different than a decade ago when the show first came on the air.”

When the original NBC run of “The Biggest Loser” came to an end in 2016 after 17 seasons, it did so with an air of controversy around it due to claims about unhealthy weight loss methods on the show. Entering into its 18th season, now on USA, the format was tweaked for the 2020 audience.
The biggest change, former trainer and now host Bob Harper called out at the Television Critics Assn. press tour panel for the show Saturday, is that who gets sent home every week is no longer “a popularity contest.” While the original series asked the team that lost the least amount of weight each week to discuss and decide which singular person would go home, now that discussion has been eliminated. Instead, the person with the lowest percentage of weight loss for the week automatically goes home.
But what that means is that contestants may feel more pressure to work out harder,...

Miami — Tamron Hall is proud of her TV trifecta.
For a few years, the former “Today” anchor could be found most weekdays airing on three networks at the same time.
During her 2010-2016 tenure as a co-anchor of “Today’s” 9 a.m. hour, Hall would follow that show by switching to an anchor slot on MSNBC. And she also hosted the NBC-produced series “Deadline: Crime with Tamron Hall” for Investigation Discovery. There were many days when the 9 a.m. hour of “Today” would air on the West Coast while she was anchoring live on MSNBC and ID would run a block of “Deadline: Crime” episodes.
Hall is banking on her extensive TV training to prepare for her next on-air chapter as host of a syndicated daytime talk show distributed by Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer and International. She sees a clear need in the daytime landscape for a show that will...

Oprah Winfrey laughed when Seth Meyers used reverse psychology to encourage her to run for president in 2020 (with Tom Hanks on the ticket, no less!) during the 2018 Golden Globe Awards — but almost everyone, including longtime partner Stedman Graham, is in support of the idea.
“It’s up to the people,” Graham told the Los Angeles Times. “She would absolutely do it.”
Celebrities and social media users alike rallied behind the idea after Winfrey accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award at Sunday’s ceremony, an honorary award bestowed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.
