The Netflix series is created by Ritchie himself and it is set in the world of Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name. Still, he is more surprised as what he doesn’t know is that his father was in cahoots with criminals, who were growing cannabis on their estate. Eddie decides that he wants to rid his family estate of all the weed plants and criminals, but before he can do that he might have to do some criminal things himself first. The Gentlemen stars Theo James in the lead roles with Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, Vinnie Jones, Ruby Sear, Joely Richardson, Giancarlo Esposito, Alexis Rodney, and Harry Goodwins starring in supporting roles.

Deadline reports that Amazon is developing Halcyon, a sci-fi thriller based on Christopher Long’s graphic novel Hiding In Time. Halcyon comes from Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow, who will executive produce through his Metronome Film Company alongside Andrew Mittman’s 1.21 banner.
Halcyon is a “paranoid sci-fi thriller in which the Witness Protection Program relocates families to various eras in time. The series unravels a conspiracy that emerges when this seemingly infallible system is breached.” Sounds interesting. In addition to producing Halcyon, Colin Trevorrow will also direct the pilot of the series. Davey Holmes (Shameless) will serve as showrunner of the project, and will executive produce alongside Trevorrow, Mittman, and Lloyd Braun.

After helming Jurassic World, Colin Trevorrow stepped back for J.A. Bayona to take the reins of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, but he returned for Jurassic World: Dominion.

Eoin Colfer’s irreverent, genre-blending fantasy/crime novel, Highfire, is getting adapted by Amazon as a live-action/animated hybrid television series. Intriguingly, the project will have the services of Nicolas Cage, who’s on tap to provide the voice role of the eponymous character, who happens to be a dragon, one who lives in Louisiana, spending his days sipping vodka.
Highfire, a project residing at MGM/UA Television, has been put into development by Amazon, according to Deadline. The would-be series will operate under the creative purview of showrunner Davey Holmes, creator of Epix’s Get Shorty adaptation series, along with producer runs on shows such as Showtime’s Shameless, Fox’s Chicago Code and cult-adored ABC Bryan Fuller series Pushing Daisies. Voiceover star Cage will serve as an executive producer alongside Holmes, joined in that capacity by Andrew Mittman of 1.21, via an existing MGM/UA deal.

Exclusive: Isaac Keys has been promoted to series regular and Michaela Watkins (Casual) and Seychelle Gabriel (Sleepy Hollow) have been tapped for recurring roles on the upcoming third season of Epix’s Get Shorty, from MGM Television. Production is underway in Vancouver for premiere this fall on Epix.
Key has recurred as Ed since the first season of the series, starring Chris O’Dowd and Ray Romano, appearing in a total of 18 episodes. Ed is Amara’s (Lidia Porto) bodyguard and a top lieutenant in her gang. He’s intimidating and built like a linebacker, but is intelligent and has a quiet confidence and dignity about him. Ed may not seem important, but he is perhaps the person Amara trusts most.
Get Shorty is based in part on Elmore Leonard’s 1990 bestselling novel — which also spawned Barry Sonnenfeld’s 1995 feature — and created for television by Davey Holmes. The series follows Miles Daly (O’Dowd), muscle for a Nevada crime ring who tries to become a movie producer in Hollywood with the help of a washed-up producer, Rick Moreweather (Romano), as a means to leave his criminal past behind.
In season two, Miles (O’Dowd) struggled to reconcile his ambitions as a filmmaker and a family man with his skill set as a career criminal. His progress in Hollywood is jeopardized when his washed-up producing partner Rick (Romano) agrees to wear a federal wire and begins a romantic relationship with dangerous crime boss Amara De Escalones (Porto).
Season three finds Miles embracing more ruthless methods as he settles scores in an attempt to continue climbing the Hollywood ladder.
Cast also includes series regulars Sean Bridgers, Carolyn Dodd, Goya Robles and Megan Stevenson. Steven Weber and Sarah Stiles are recurring guest stars.
Get Shorty season three is executive produced by Holmes and Adam Arkin. The series is produced by MGM Television and internationally distributed by MGM.
Keys is repped by Apa, Infinity Entertainment, and Ginsburg Daniels.

“Chris O’Dowd and Ray Romano have so thoroughly embraced their roles, and I know I speak for all fans of ‘Get Shorty’ when I say that we can’t wait for their escapades to unfold in season three,” said Epix President Michael Wright. “The entire Epix team is looking forward to working again with Davey Holmes, Adam Arkin and the...

Epix has picked up a seven-episode third season of original series Get Shorty for premiere in 2019. The episode order is down from the 10-episode orders from seasons 1 and 2. The dark comedy is one of Epix’s three original three scripted series, along with Berlin Station and Graves, and comes from the now-sole owner MGM.
Get Shorty is based in part on Elmore Leonard’s 1990 bestselling novel — which also spawned Barry Sonnenfeld’s 1995 feature — and created for television by Davey Holmes. The series follows Miles Daly (Chris O’Dowd), muscle for a Nevada crime ring who tries to become a movie producer in Hollywood with the help of a washed-up producer, Rick Moreweather (Ray Romano), as a means to leave his criminal past behind. In season two, Miles struggles to reconcile his ambitions as a filmmaker and a family man with his skill set as a career criminal.

When one is immersed in television production, there is often little time to check out what stories other series are telling. But with no shortage of prestigious programming across broadcast, cable and streaming today, those who make television are carving out more time to watch for themselves. Rather than view these shows as competition, they want to celebrate the diverse content offerings.
To that end, Variety asked a number of series creators and showrunners what series that they would award with an Emmy this year. With the landscape vast and diverse, so too were the range of answers, encompassing everything from dark cat-and-mouse dramas (“Killing Eve”) to slightly surreal limited series (“The Terror”) to auteur comedies (“Atlanta”) and the end of a spy drama (“The Americans”).

There were no holds barred during the comedy panel for Variety’s “A Night in the Writers’ Room” on Thursday.
When asked by Variety’s managing editor of TV, Cynthia Littleton, about the impact of the “Roseanne” cancellation, “The Good Place” creator Michael Schur plainly stated: “Most people on the shows represented on this panel aren’t racist. When the legendary screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz got to Hollywood, he sent a telegram to his friend Ben Hecht back home in New York: "Millions are to be grabbed out here and your only competition is idiots." That's been a fantasy for hustlers ever since – the idea of Hollywood as a motherlode of suckers waiting to be fleeced by the right guy with the right scheme.
On Get Shorty, Miles Daly wants to be that right guy – a Nevada gangster with an Irish accent, bluffing his way into the movie business.

Elmore Leonard doesn’t make adaptations easy. The many successful films and one great TV show produced from the renowned author’s work seem to indicate otherwise, but for every “Out of Sight” and “Justified,” there’s a “Killshot” and “Karen Sisco.”
Now, after a hailed novel and two feature films, “Get Shorty” becomes the latest Leonard crime story to get the series treatment, and it’s a lot closer in quality to its titular inspiration than its lesser sequel, “Be Cool.” But aside from being pretty darn good, this take goes its own way.
Anyone familiar with the 1990 book or 1995 film will certainly recognize the plot, but creator Davey Holmes’ new show isn’t doing an impression; not on any level. From the casting to the construction, this version of “Get Shorty” is its own beast. The hour-long drama may not be the next big breakout in the golden age of TV,...

It certainly seems to be a thing nowadays to take older properties and turn into hour-long TV shows. It's happening with Shooter, Rush Hour, The Departed, and a handful of other properties.
The trend seems to be continuing, as actors Chris O'Dowd and Ray Romano are in the process of signing on to lead the 10-episode series Get Shorty, based on the famous Elmore Leonard book of the same name.
While the book is indeed quite famous, chances are that if you recognize the title, it's from the 1995 film, which stars John Travolta, Danny DeVito, Gene Hackman, and Rene Russo. Heck, the movie did well enough that studios thought it was worth it to produce the sequel Be Cool, which -- as a sidenote -- was one of Dwayne Johnson's earlier roles. But I digress.

Not too long ago, we caught wind of a Get Shorty TV show being developed over at Epix. An adaptation of both Elmore Leonard’s novel and Barry Sonnenfeld’s great 1995 film, the dark comedy is set to take things in a bit of a different direction, as it won’t feature Ernest “Chili” Palmer. Instead, it’s focused on Miles Daly, a former Nevada mobster who will be played by Chris O’Dowd.
That’s according to Deadline, who report that the actor is about to ink a deal for the role alongside Ray Romano, who’s eyeing the part of a “burnt out producer of trashy films,” – the character that Gene Hackman played in the movie.
As we mentioned above, the show won’t follow the source material beat for beat, as it will instead centre around Miles, who gets into movie producing in hopes of giving his daughter a better life.

Based on Elmore Leonard’s 1990 bestseller, which five years later became a big-screen hit starring John Travolta, Danny DeVito and Gene Hackman, the MGM TV-produced hour-long dark comedy follows the new character of made man Miles Daly — rather than Travolta’s Chili Palmer — as he tries to leave behind “the business” for show business for the sake of his daughter.

Get Shorty is such a great film! If you’ve never seen it, you’ve gotta check it out. I bust up laughing every time I watch it. That flick is loaded with amazingly funny one-liners. The film was based off the book by Elmore Leonard, and now the dark comedy Hollywood mob story is being adapted into a TV series for Epix.
There will be ten one-hour episodes being produced through MGM TV and executive producer Davey Holmes (Shameless), who is also writing the series. According to Deadline, the series will center on the character Miles Daly, “who works as muscle for a murderous crime ring in Nevada. For the sake of his daughter, he attempts to change professions and become a movie producer, laundering money through a Hollywood film. But instead of leaving the criminal world behind, he accidentally brings it with him to Los Angeles.”

Epix and MGM are making a fresh TV take on Elmore Leonard’s crime-meets-Hollywood novel Get Shorty...
American network Epix is working on a TV version of Get Shorty. The show will be “a reimagining” of Elmore Leonard’s novel of the same, rather than a straight remake of the 1995 movie adaptation (which boasted an immense amount of talent: John Travolta, Gene Hackman, Rene Russo and Danny DeVito on screen, with Barry Sonnenfeld directing).
If you’re unfamiliar, Get Shorty centres on Miles Daly, a member of a Nevada crime ring who tries to change professions and become a movie producer. Things, er, don’t exactly go to plan when he gets to La.
Davey Holmes, best known for his work on the American version of Shameless, has co-created the series and will executive produce. Epix has paired with MGM (the studio behind the 1995 movie and its...

Premium TV network Epix announced today it will go into production on Get Shorty from MGM Television. Created and executive produced by Davey Holmes (“Shameless,” “In Treatment,” “Damages”), the one hour drama series is a reimagining of Elmore Leonard’s 1990 New York Times best-selling novel of the same name. Production on the series is anticipated to begin this fall and air summer 2017.
In Get Shorty, Miles Daly works as muscle for a murderous crime ring in Nevada. For the sake of his daughter, he attempts to change professions and become a movie producer, laundering money through a Hollywood film. But instead of leaving the criminal world behind, he accidentally brings it with him to Los Angeles.
Mark S. Greenberg, President and CEO, Epix said:
