Picturestart has acquired the rights to the Mary H.K. Choi novel “Yolk” to adapt as a television series, Variety has learned exclusively.
“Yolk” is about two twenty-something Korean sisters in New York — Jayne and June. One has cancer, the other has health insurance, so they swap identities based on the oldest gag in the racism book: All Look Same. By “swap,” June means stealing her little sister’s identity without her knowing because they’re long estranged. And when Jayne finds out, she extorts her big sister for a room in her baller Manhattan apartment. Tit for tat. Of course, deep down they need each other, though they’d sooner die than admit this. And now June might really die, especially if Jayne flunks out of fashion school and loses “their” health insurance. As they struggle to understand each other, the one thing they can agree on? Mom and Dad...

Exclusive: Transgender actor J.J. Hawkins is set to join The CW’s Charmed for the third season.
Hawkins will become the first trans actor on the reboot of the iconic show. He joins the cast in the recurring role of Kevin, a transgender male college student who inspires one of the Charmed Ones to take on a very formidable opponent. This is another step forward in authentic representation with a trans actor playing a trans role. The news of Hawkins’ casting couldn’t come at a better time considering this week marks Trans Awareness Week.

Exclusive: Charmed is the latest scripted series whose restarted production has been disrupted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Filming on the CW drama has been paused for a day Wednesday as an individual from the production has tested positive for Covid-19, Deadline has learned. CBS Studios, which is behind Charmed, is following Covid protocols and conducting contact tracing, sources said.
The CW’s reboot of the fantasy drama, which films in Vancouver, previously shut down production last month for several days over delays in Covid-19 test results for cast and crew that impacted most series based there.
Charmed is set to premiere its third season on the CW on January 24.
The reboot of the series, which was created by Constance M. Burge and produced by Aaron Spelling that ran on the WB from 1998-2006, follows three sisters — played by Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery and Madeleine Mantock — after the tragic death of their mother.

Say hello to the new Charmed ones! The remake of the hit 1998 show Charmed is officially coming to The CW this Fall, and we already have the first look. Not only do the photos give us a glimpse of the three witch sisters, played by Melonie Diaz, Sarah Jeffery, and Madeleine Mantock, but we also have a look at the sacred Book of Shadows. Let's just say, the attic is basically an exact replica of the Halliwell sisters' home.
The series, which is being written by Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin (Jane the Virgin), has been generating mixed reactions since it was first announced in January, especially from the original cast. While Shannen Doherty (who played Prue Halliwell from seasons one to three) is keeping an open mind about the revival, Holly Marie Combs (who played Piper Halliwell) is clearly against it. Could the "Power of Three" be reignited? Fans of Charmed might be pleased (or very displeased) to hear that a reimagining of the late ’90s/early 2000s series is in the works at The CW.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Charmed reboot from CBS Television Studios has received a "script commitment," with Jane the Virgin scribes Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin on board to pen the pilot episode.
Official plot details are being kept under wraps right now, but the reboot will take place in 1976 and have some kind of a link to the original series that aired from 1998–2006 on The WB.
The showrunner of Jane the Virgin, Jennie Snyder Urman, is set to executive produce the pilot (and likely the series if it moves forward) along with Ben Silverman and Brad Silberling, with the latter also slated to direct the pilot episode.

The TV reboot trend continues, this time with Charmed in the spotlight. The CW has ordered a pilot script for a reboot of The WB series that ran from 1998-2006. Jane the Virgin executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman is behind the series, E! News has learned. In The CW's new Charmed, which will feature a new cast, the action revolves around three witches who come together to fight the forces of evil (and fight for women's rights) in a New England town in 1976. What if it's Stars Hollow? Just throwing that crazy TV theory out there. The story hails from Jessica O'Toole, Amy Rardin and Snyder Urman with O'Toole and Rardin penning the script. The original Charmed starred Alyssa Milano, Holly...

A full decade after the Kate Hudson-Matthew McConaughey romcom How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, an indie sequel is in the works. How to Get Over a Guy in 10 Days will be directed by Legally Blonde scribe Kiwi Smith who will co-write the script with "Greek" writers Jessica O'Toole and Amy Rardin. The project will mark Smith's feature film directing debut.
Smith's lucky number must be 10 because she also wrote the TV series "10 Things I Hate About You." Her film scripts include The Ugly Truth, House Bunny, Ella Enchanted and She's the Man.
