The Broadway revival of Monty Python’s Spamalot will play its final performance on Sunday, April 7, completing a 24-week run at the St. James Theatre.
The production, which opened to favorable critical notices, failed to attract the strong audience figures that the original 2005 production drew. Last week, the production grossed just $589,970, with attendance at about 59% of the St. James’ capacity.
Sources tell Deadline that cost-cutting measures attempted in recent weeks have made little significant impact on the bottom line.
The revival opened on Thursday, November 16, 2023. A national tour is set to launch in fall of 2025.
“I am so proud of the entire cast, creative team, musicians and crew for their hard work and for delivering the highest level of joy and laughter back on Broadway when we need this more than ever,” said producer Jeffrey Finn. “I’m also honored to continue the long legacy of Kennedy Center productions transferring...

After a fan-led revival, Beetlejuice will end its Broadway run Jan. 8, 2023.
The Broadway musical, based on the 1988 Tim Burton film, originally opened at Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre on April 25, 2019, and later announced a June 2020 closing (which was moved up due to the industrywide shutdown in March 2020). The closing notice, prompted by the theater owner, was notable because it came as the grosses for the musical were on an uptick, which the production credited to growing fan engagement. However, The Music Man was slated to take that theater.
The musical reopened at the Marquis Theatre on Broadway in April 2022, with most of its original cast.
Since returning to Broadway, the musical has experienced more of a struggle at the box office. In recent weeks, the production has grossed less than 1 million and has been playing to capacities of 60 to 70 percent.

The Broadway musical Beetlejuice has canceled tonight’s performance due to cases of Covid within the company.
“We apologize for the inconvenience this causes ticket holders, and appreciate your understanding,” the production posted on Instagram. “The safety of our audiences, cast and crew remains our top priority.”
Performances at the Marquis Theatre are scheduled to resume Friday, July 22.
Beetlejuice stars Alex Brightman, Elizabeth Teeter, Kerry Butler, David Josefsberg, Adam Dannheisser and Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer in the musical adaptation of the 1988 film.
New York City is experiencing an upsurge in Covid cases due to the more contagious, but generally less severe, BA.5 sub-variant. Earlier today, the White House announced that President Joe Biden had tested positive for Covid.

Beetlejuice has closed its doors on Broadway, at least for now.
The show’s final bow at the Winter Garden Theatre took place two months early as the theatre closed its doors amid the coronavirus pandemic.
However, a rep for the show, which was nominated for eight Tony Awards, tells People, “Obviously, with the suspension of Broadway through June 7th, this means that Beetlejuice won’t be returning to the Winter Garden Theater, but the musical still has plans to launch a national tour in the fall of 2021 (announced in January).”
“The producers are still considering if there is an...

54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, presents David Josefsberg in The Devil Inside on August 3rd at 7pm. The show is about The Devil Inside Mr. Josefsberg. Most people know David as a sweet, innocent, wonderful, decent human being yeah right but David also has a dark side. There will be some Jason Robert Brown, Stevie Wonder, and some Queen, but there will also be some filthy, hilarious, off-color material written by Josefsberg himself.
