“Len was just charming, and that’s how I remember him even at 12-years-old,” said ballroom dancer, six-time Mirror Ball champion and now “Dancing with the Stars” judge Derek Hough on “Most Memorable Year Night.” He was reminiscing about Len Goodman, who had judged “DWTS” since its very first season in 2005. But he decided to retire from the show at the end of the 2022 season, and then he passed away in April 2023. The show paid tribute to the late, great Goodman with a special group dance. Watch the entire segment above.
“He’s been in my life since the very beginning,” remembered Mark Ballas. Indeed, for many “DWTS” pros Goodman’s influence began well before the dance competition series first came on the air almost two decades ago. “He was very well respected within the ballroom community,” explained Kim Johnson-Herjavek. Ballas added, “He was a big-time judge when we were all starting to compete.

ABC's Dancing With the Stars aired its highly-publicized tribute to Len Goodman on Tuesday.
Goodman died earlier this year at 78.
DWTS alums Maks Chmerkovskiy, Kym Johnson-Herjavec, Tony Dovolani, Karina Smirnoff, Anna Trebunskaya, Edyta Śliwińska, Louis van Amstel, and Mark Ballas returned.
They danced alongside the pros competing on Dancing With the Stars Season 32 with a beautiful tribute for the former head judge.
Goodman brought years of experience to both DWTS and its British iteration, Strictly Come Dancing, and appeared on both shows since their inception.
The emotional footage kicked off with a pre-recorded package featuring the pros speaking about their memories of Goodman.
"Getting criticized by Len was never easy but getting that 10 made it all worth it," Maks said.
"One of the things I'm most thankful for is being able to judge alongside Len," Derek said through his tears.

Dancing with the Stars pros Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy and Val Chmerkovskiy choreographed the piece. It included pros from the series early days dancing alongside the current cast.

Outside the competition, DWTS formally paid tribute to Len Goodman with a special waltz choreographed by Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy to the sounds of Henry Mancini’s “Moon River.” Current pros, as well as Derek and Julianne Hough, joined returning faces to honor the late lead judge. It’s been six months beloved judge Len Goodman passed, but Dancing with the Stars isn’t ready to say goodbye just yet.
Though Tuesday’s theme was Most Memorable Year, the Week 5 episode was really meant to honor Goodman, who died from prostate cancer in April at the age of 78. After airing a sentimental package featuring past pros talking about what an honor it was to be both complimented and criticized by Goodman, the episode then featured a dance tribute to “Moon River” that was waltzed to perfection by current pros and past faves Kym Johnson, Anna Trebunskaya, Karina Smirnoff, Edyta Sliwinska, Tony Dovolani, Louis van Amstel, Maks Chmerkovskiy and Mark Ballas.
It ended with the troupe gesturing to an empty middle chair on the judges’ dais. Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli wept.

Since the NBC comedy Cheers lasted 11 seasons, you could always check in with the regulars. John Ratzenberger played Cliff Clavin on all 11 seasons of the show. Cheers ended in 1993 and Ratzenberger hasn’t stopped working since. Showbiz Cheat Sheet is here to catch you up and tell you where to find him now.

Cliff was in all but one or two episodes of Cheers. He was not a character in the original pilot and Ratzenberger was initially hired as a guest star before they made him a regular.
The story goes that Ratzenberger actually auditioned for the role of Norm. Sensing he was wrong for the part and the audition went badly, Ratzenberger pitched creators Glen and Les Charles on “a bar know-it-all.” They agreed and his first episodes proved Cliff was a vital part of the Cheers gang.

“Dancing with the Stars” has had nine athlete runners-up and will add a 10th after this all-athletes season. Of those first nine, 34 percent of our readers voted in a recent poll that Shawn Johnson should’ve definitely won Season 15 with Derek Hough.
Johnson and Hough came in second to Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani on the all-stars season. The Olympic gymnast won Season 8 with Mark Ballas and was seeking to becoming the first celebrity to win two Mirroball trophies. Both couples received high marks throughout the season, but perhaps Johnson’s previous win (as well as Hough’s three wins) hurt them in the fan votes.
Twenty-five percent of our readers feel that James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess were robbed of a win on Season 23. The IndyCar driver lost to Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy, who dominated the season.

Nine athletes have finished in second place on the show — some of them even losing to fellow athletes. Some of these losses were expected, some were close calls, but which of these runners-up deserved the win the most?
Jerry Rice was the first athlete runner-up. The three-time Super Bowl champ and Anna Trebunskaya lost to Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke in Season 2. Rice and Trebunskaya had the third lowest score of the final three on finale night, but beat third-place finishers Stacy Keibler and Tony Dovolani with fan votes added in.

From the start, Edyta Sliwinska learned that being a mom of two wasn’t for the faint of heart.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the former Dancing with the Stars pro, who welcomed her second child, Leia Josephine, on June 18, reveals she nearly missed making it to the hospital for her daughter’s delivery.
“My husband brilliantly decided to fix a broken toilet in the upstairs bathroom. So he’s like, ‘Going to Home Depot, buying a toilet.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, that’s fine’ – I didn’t have any contractions,” she recalls.

Former Dancing With the Stars pro Edyta Sliwinska is adjusting to life as a new mom of two after welcoming daughter Leia Josephine just two weeks ago.
Et recently caught up with Sliwinska over the phone, while she took a well-deserved break from her busy household. The pro dancer dished on everything from Baby Leia's birth story (her husband was at Home Depot when she went into labor) to how she plans to regain her dancing figure and whether there's a third child in her future. The biggest change so far, she says, is time management, comparing every time the family tries to leave the house (a rarity, because Leia is so young) to a scene from the 2014 film Neighbors.

Dancing With the Stars' viewers message to Geraldo Rivera on Monday night: You're fired. The 72-year-old Fox News host had the unfortunate distinction of being the first celebrity eliminated during season 22...and he was eliminated while dressed as presidential nominee Donald Trump, wig and all. (His pro partner Edyta Sliwinska was dressed as Trump's wife, Melania.) His stance? To make dance great again, which unfortunately didn't happen, as he landed just 13 points from the judges. During the package before his performance, Geraldo said he was friends with the politician, who fired the TV personality when he was on Celebrity Apprentice, and thought he would "get a kick" out of...

Geraldo Rivera and dance partner Edyta Sliwinska tried to spice things up a little bit on Dancing with the Stars last night. The two decided to dress up as Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump. Given that Geraldo wasn’t in the greatest standing with the judges, this was more than likely a desperate shot to keep himself from being tossed. Unfortunately the plan didn’t work. Rivera put on the blondish wig, a fancy suit, and filled out the attire by making his face a bit more orange than normal. His partner Edyta simply dressed in a sexy outfit and

Fox News host and known terpsichorean dumpster fire Geraldo Rivera really outdid himself on Monday night's episode of ABC's hit show Dancing with the Stars, building on his already poor audience response with a number that attempted to satirize Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump. In full Trump regalia, including orange mustache, Rivera and unlucky partner Edyta Sliwinska populated a White House set.

Too bad so sad. That's our slightly sarcastic reaction to tonight's Dancing with the Stars elimination. We were neither surprised nor really that upset to see Geraldo Rivera and partner Edyta Sliwinska sent home after two disastrous attempts at dancing (on Geraldo's part). We don't feel bad saying that, because he knew it himself. "I would have demanded a recount," he said of the alternate universe in which he was not sent home. Hopefully, the fact that we won't have to see him on the dance floor again will help us erase the image of him dressed as Donald Trump, because that's how he decided to celebrate Latin night. We'd prefer to pretend it never happened, and we will...
