For a horror fan, the month of October is naturally designated for everything related to Halloween. So this month’s installment of Deep Cuts Rising features a variety of horror movies that take place on or around October 31st. As usual, though, these selections can generally be considered overlooked, forgotten or unknown.
This month’s Halloween-themed offerings include zombies, witchcraft, killers, and more.
The Midnight Hour (1985)

Directed by Jack Bender.
The Midnight Hour is a great warm-up for the Halloween season, right before diving into heavier or scarier movies. This telefilm originally aired on ABC, then later showed up on cable. While it didn’t open to rave reviews, it has certainly found an audience over the years. The plot is simple enough: teens fool around with magic and accidentally raise an evil sorceress on Halloween. As the night goes on, the town is taken over by ghouls and monsters.

Kim Kardashian was recently pictured in one of the most prominent fashion capitals of the world, Milan, Italy.
She was there to prepare her highly anticipated fashion show with Dolce & Gabbana.
The show was held last Saturday, as part of Milan fashion week.
She spent the whole day Thursday at D&g headquarters. However, in the evening the reality star was ready to relax.
She was photographed leaving her hotel to meet some friends for dinner.
She dazzled in a metallic jumpsuit, by none other than Dolce and Gabbana. Her platinum blonde hair covered most of her face, but her tiny waist took centerstage.
Some fans have been shocked and worried by Kim’s drastic weight loss.

Remote production went to a whole new level during the pandemic, and “Outer Range” could serve as television’s Exhibit A. Several members of the show’s crafts team sat down with IndieWire’s Jim Hemphill to discuss the making of the visually complex series. The panel consisted of director Lawrence Trilling, production designer Tommaso Ortino, VFX supervisor Jason Piccioni, editor and producer Travis Baker, and composers Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans.
The thing is, some of them hadn’t met until today.
“Some of us are just meeting each other today or at the premiere,” Trilling said. “We missed the collegial warmth you can have while making a show.”
The television Western is currently having quite the renaissance thanks to “Yellowstone” and its massively popular prequel “1883,” but “Outer Range” has little more than setting in common with its fellow Westerns. In fact, it’s pretty safe to say...

James Franco has posted an Instagram photo of himself shooting his film adaptation of the novel "Zeroville" alongside cast mates Seth Rogen and Will Ferrell. Rogen plays Viking Man, a character who is a thinly-disguised take on legendary writer/director John Milius. Ferrell's role is unknown, but he looks kind of like he's doing a take on producer Robert Evans.

Mischief Night, or Goosey Night as the hip kids call it these days, is one night a year where children run amok and terrorize neighborhoods with toilet paper, eggs, chalk, and any other mark-leaving materials they can get their hands on, and no one bats an eye. Well, that’s what I used to believe – until I grew up and now have to clean up the mess those insufferable little shits create, making a full transition into my “Get Off My Lawn You Damn Kids” phase. What! You try cleaning toilet paper up after it’s rained! I absolutely wanted to get my hands on the punk kids that writer/director Travis Baker starts his movie off with, but was quick to realize some vandalizing adolescents smashing pumpkins wouldn’t be the focus here, and that’s when things got, well, spooky?

Deadline reports that Mark Wahlberg and producing partner Stephen Levinson have signed on to produce The Roman, a biopic of Julius Caesar based on the rarely portrayed events in Plutarch’s Life Of Caesar, not the more commonly dramatized end of Caesar’s life. Described as an “origin story in the vein of Batman Begins”—because even historical figures get comic book-style "origin stories" these days—the drama will be written by Travis Baker and Richard Tanne of the web series Cinema Cool, and will center on an early incident involving Caesar being kidnapped by Cilician pirates, from a small ...

Mark Wahlberg has signed on to produce a Julius Caesar origin film called The Roman. The movie is described as being in the same vein as Batman Begins. I love how new upcoming movies are still being likened to Batman Begins, it's still setting the standard for filmmakers.
According to Deadline, this is a story "that envisions the future dictator as a young general in the Roman army in a rarely discussed period of his life. Kidnapped by Cilician pirates and enslaved on their prison island, Caesar escapes with his men while the decisions he makes during this time directly affect the political and social upheavals happening in Rome. As Plutarch tells it, Caesar maintained such an air of superiority during his imprisonment that he demanded his captors more than double the ransom they had placed on his life; after he escaped, he made his way back and brutally crucified...

Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson have signed on to produce the young Julius Caesar epic "The Roman".
The project is being described as a "Batman Begins"-style look at one the least explored times of Caesar's life - when he was in his mid-20s and a young general in the Roman army.
Kidnapped by Cilician pirates and enslaved on their prison island, Caesar escapes with his men. The decisions he makes during this time directly affect the political and social upheaval happening in Rome.
Travis Baker and Richard Tanne ("Cinema Cool") penned the script, while a director is currently being sought.

The story of Rome’s Julius Caesar done “Batman Begins” style? That’s apparently the pitch for the new movie “The Roman” that got Mark Wahlberg to sign on as a producer. Written by Travis Baker and Richard Tanne, “The Roman” will “[envision] the future dictator as a young general in the Roman army in a rarely discussed period of his life. Kidnapped by Cilician pirates and enslaved on their prison island, Caesar escapes with his men, and the decisions he makes during this time directly affect the political and social upheaval happening in Rome.” So when does he put on a bat costume and fight crime? And do the Cilician pirates teach him kung fu? Man, I’m confused. Also, who’s playing the crusading and very cute Assistant District Attorney? Anyhoo. “The Roman” is just in the developmental stages at the moment, so who knows if it’ll ever actually get off the ground.

Mark Wahlberg and his partner Stephen Levinson are set to produce “The Roman,” which is said to be a sort of “Caesar Begins” movie that will tell of how Julius Caesar rose from being a prisoner and a slave to becoming a general and eventually the ruler of an empire. They want to focus on the rarely-discussed early years of his life because the character was just so bold and cunning. Amongst his exploits that are sure to be covered in this film are the fact that he once demanded that his captors double the ransom on his life, and eventually crucified them- as he promised he would.
The script was written by Travis Baker and Richard Tanne. Wahlberg and Levinson are working on securing a director for the project before they start shopping it around to studios. The producers are on a bit of a hot streak, with their...

He isn't doing a Brando and donning the laurel wreath himself (not yet anyway), but Mark Wahlberg, along with producing partner Stephen Levinson, has just thrown his weight behind The Roman. The epic-sounding historical drama will chart the early adventures of Julius Caesar. The screenplay, by Travis Baker and Richard Tanne, apparently covers an episode in Caesar's early twenties. After his high-profile first military stint and in the early days of his career as a legal advocate, he was kidnapped by pirates on a voyage across the Aegean. He didn't give them an easy time. While a captive, he demanded that the pirates significantly up their ransom, deeming himself more valuable than their original demand. Then, once the ransom was paid and he was free again, he raised a fleet to track the pirates down, and had them crucified. That told 'em.Obviously there's plenty more drama in Caesar's early life,...

Having celebrated Halloween in two movies now, Malcolm McDowell is giving the holiday's little brother a try.
