Los Angeles, Feb 15 (Ians) Actress Kate Hudson has revealed that her appearance in ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York’, which released in 1992, still pays her residuals, even if she’s only earning a dime.
Kate was speaking on her podcast Sibling Revelry, hosted with her brother, Oliver Hudson, reports deadline.com.
During a conversation on her podcast, Kate discussed her credits with Joey Lawrence, Matthew Lawrence, and Andy Lawrence.
“I still get residuals from ‘Home Alone 2’ because I sang in the chorus,” Kate said, referencing the scene where Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McAllister ruins a school Christmas pageant.
“I’m in that chorus, and then I get 10 cents every once in a while.”
Joey Lawrence knows the feeling.
“Sometimes I’ll get, like, 2 cents and I’m like, ‘Wait. Doesn’t the envelope and paper cost more?’”
The Christmas comedy film is directed by Chris Columbus.

A burning question surrounding the 1990 Christmas classic “Home Alone” has finally been answered by economists at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Just how rich is the McCallister family? It’s a question The New York Times now has an answer to as the Federal Reserves has determined Kevin MCallister’s family is in the one percent of Chicago residents based on the value of their home.
Per The Times: “In 1990, the house was affordable only for the top 1 percent of Chicago household incomes, and that would still be the case today, according to economists at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago…the home would have been affordable to a household with an income of $305,000 in 1990.”
So there you have it. Peter (John Heard) and Kate McCallister (Catherine O’Hara) would’ve been earning at least $305,000 annually in 1990 to afford the house, which is located on the North shore of Chicago.

Macaulay Culkin Reunites with Home Alone Co-Star Catherine O’Hara at Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony
Macaulay Culkin was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a ceremony held on Friday (December 1st). As part of the festivities, Culkin reunited with Home Alone co-star Catherine O’Hara, who delivered an emotional speech in the actor’s honor.
“Home Alone was, is and always will be a beloved global sensation,” began O’Hara, who played the mother of Culkin’s character, Kevin McAllister, in two films.
“The reason families all over the world can’t let a year go by without watching and loving Home Alone together is because of Macaulay Culkin.”
“I know you worked really hard. I know you do. But you made acting look like the most natural thing of the world to do,” O’Hara continued. “Macaulay, a 10-year-old boy, this beautiful, dear little 10-year-old boy, was called a superstar, a moneymaker. One of the hottest leading young men in Hollywood.

There are “child stars,” and then there are performers that start working during childhood only to become bona fide, beloved screen icons, enjoying long, varied careers throughout their lives. Following in the footsteps of Shirley Temple, Natalie Wood and Mickey Rooney, Macaulay Culkin has — for three decades and counting — been a contemporary standard bearer for that personal and professional journey.
Culkin became a full-fledged cultural phenomenon after the explosive commercial success of his fifth film, 1990’s “Home Alone,” which he made when he was just 10 years old. The film grossed $476 million worldwide, due in direct part to his mischievous-yet-vulnerable performance as Kevin McAllister. But beginning in his teenage years, Culkin began seeking projects that piqued his artistic interests rather than sustaining his immediate and colossal celebrity. Even without any expectation for those subsequent efforts to reach the same stratospheric heights as his early breakthrough, Culkin’s star wattage has barely flickered,...

Yippee-Ki-Yay, Moviegoers! Die Hard will be back in theaters next week, just in time for Christmas. But it’s not a Christmas movie…is it? It’s debated year after year: does the 1988 action flick qualify as a holiday film or not? According to many, yes. The holiday is even mentioned in AMC’s write-up: “A New York City cop faces overwhelming odds when his Christmas visit to California is interrupted by a hostile invasion of his estranged wife’s office building.”
On the topic, we made our own case a few years ago that Die Hard is in fact a Christmas movie. Personally, I can’t take that stance. Die Hard qualifies as “Christmas-adjacent”, like Lethal Weapon, In Bruges and Eyes Wide Shut. Christmas is part of the films in one way or another – typically being set during the holiday season – but it’s not a big enough part...

A viral video has highlighted a brief Home Alone moment that answers a burning question about the film.
With Christmas just days away, many are re-watching the festive film, which became a family favourite after being released in 1990.
The film follows the escapades of Kevin McAllister (Macaulay Culkin) who is left behind by his family when they travel to Paris for Christmas.
While he’s home alone, Kevin must contend with two bumbling burglers who attempt to rob the house, believing it to be empty.
A recurring question when people watch the film is: how exactly do two parents completely forget about their child?
For instance, there would be several moments before being sat on the plane when you would realise your son is not with you.
In the film, the family is forced to rush to airport as their alarm doesn’t go off in the morning.
As everybody is getting into the taxis,...

Blowtorch to the head, electrocution, deadly tarantulas, flying paint cans – that Kevin McAllister really put those burglars through it in the Home Alone films. When you look back, it’s a wonder they were kids’ films at all. Generations of children watched those poor Wet Bandits get slowly, painfully tortured in their quest to nick a telly and some loose change.
But would a real-life Harry and Marv have survived the kinds of traps Kevin set them? That’s exactly what The Unofficial Science of Home Alone – a new documentary on Sky Max – plans to find out.
Comedians Guz Khan and James Acaster find out just how deadly the Home Alone boobytraps are via experiments set up by engineer and scientist Dr Zoe Laughlin, before coming up with savvy, science-based ways to survive them. Have you ever torn open the wrapping on a promising Christmas gift, only to find once you’ve taken it out and assembled its pieces that it’s not really what you’d hoped for at all? That it’s shoddily made, or not quite what it claimed to be, or simply less fun than you’d expected?
Tommy Wirkola’s Violent Night is, blessedly, not that gift. It’s one that delivers exactly what it promises on the box. It does not necessarily deliver much more than it promises on the box, but then it doesn’t need to. For those to whom the idea of a home-invasion comedy-thriller starring David Harbour as a sledgehammer-wielding Kris Kringle holds self-evident appeal, this one seems destined to become an alt-holiday classic.
Pat Casey and Josh Miller’s script announces its gleefully tasteless brand of humor right away.

The latest entry into the beloved “Home Alone” franchise hails from a stacked roster of comedy veterans.
“Borat” and “Bridget Jones’ Baby” co-writer Dan Mazer directs the film from a screenplay by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell of “Saturday Night Live” (and of Variety’s list of 10 Screenwriters to Watch in 2021). The cast includes Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney and Kenan Thompson. But in “Home Sweet Home Alone,” those comedians and their decades of experience stand in service of something greater.
That is, of course, the budding stardom of Archie Yates, the 12-year-old from Kent, England who made his film debut in 2019 via Taika Waititi’s “Jojo Rabbit.” He stole the screen as Jojo’s [Roman Griffin Davis] goofy and blunt best friend Yorki, then did it again during the film’s awards campaign, winning hearts and going viral online for his red carpet appearances.

It’s been 30 years since Home Alone was first released and made us crack up at the antics of two dumber than dirt burglars who were outwitted by a kid, but it’s amazing to think that some people now watching this as an adult would actually appear to take the side of Marv and Harry by stating that Kevin McAllister might have actually been in the wrong. You might be giving a look that says ‘Really?’ since the kid was defending his home and, at one point, himself. But a legal defense attorney has made it clear that when seen

Yep, we’re still on this theory of Kevin McAllister being related to Jigsaw, or rather, Kevin Being Jigsaw. But this time around the theory is that James Wan likes it and the two look enough alike so it must be true. Cue the eye roll as we move on since the idea that Kevin is Jigsaw isn’t hard to believe since the designs of their traps are fairly diabolical and are designed to do as much damage as they possibly can unless the people encountering them can somehow slip through them and outsmart the person making the traps. Christmas has come early! Yesterday, Disney Plus added the Home Alone trilogy back to its library as a surprise festive treat for subscribers. The iconic holiday comedy movies were available on D+ at launch last year, but they were removed soon after due to a pre-existing license. This Dash & Lily review contains no spoilers.
With a big, beating heart and a surprising amount of insight, Netflix’s series Dash & Lily is here to remind us of the world outside and the magical feeling of falling in love in the “before-time.” Based on the young adult book series Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares from Rachel Cohn and David Levithan (who wrote Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist) Dash & Lily continues in the proud tradition of Netflix romcoms and Netflix holiday fare of small-scale stories with warmth.
Lily, a shy teenager who’s sick of being the only one without a partner, optimistically puts a red moleskin notebook in New York’s famous Strand bookstore among some of her favorite books (Salinger) for a fellow bookworm to find. Inside the book is a puzzle and a dare, which heartbroken loner Dash finds and is eager to solve.

Good news, everyone! Disney Plus has announced that the Home Alone trilogy is returning to the Mouse House’s streaming service this very week. For this review round-up installment, this writer is diving into a pair of films that celebrate two fearsome females in very unique ways: Becky from directing duo Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott, and Josephine Decker’s Shirley, which pulls back the curtain on the life of acclaimed writer Shirley Jackson. These films couldn’t be any more different from each other, and I highly recommend seeking out both of them just as soon as you can.

How a person views Macaulay Culkin these days is a matter of personal perspective since some folks tend to think of him as a bit of a kook while others think that he was great at one time when he was younger but kind of faded off as he started to get older. He did continue to act for a while after the Home Alone movies but nothing ever really clicked the way it did with the character of Kevin McAllister, who became iconic for his role in foiling two bumbling burglars and committing what in many cases would have

This theory has been kicked around a bit here and there but it makes more and more sense as it’s continually repeated despite any pesky logic stating that Kevin wouldn’t be nearly as old as Jigsaw. The manner in which both of them go around making their traps and setting up situations that are implausible but fully capable doing massive amounts of damage is hard to ignore. While Kevin’s might be a little more, okay a lot more, juvenile they’re still devilishly clever and could be the beginnings of something that might lead to even bigger and more elaborate traps

There is no doubt that Hollywood is the movie capital of the Western world. The streets and avenues may not be paved with dreams but there are stars, studios and stories essential to our movie history around every corner.
Capturing the American City on camera, even going so far as to include the city as a character in the films however pretentious that may sound, has long been a feature of urban cinema. The diverse nature of the American city has given rise to many different types of stories, set against many different backdrops, but they are all part of the wide expanse of America’s cinematic heritage.
While L. A. movies have been covered often before, we are here to look at other American cities, the films that were based there, and how their character is captured on the screen.

Remember, it’s not Christmas until Hans Gruber falls off the Nakitomi building, or Kevin McAllister outwits and mangles two inept crooks. Well, now you can add Iron Man taking on an army of Extremis soldiers since according to Neeraj Chand of MovieWeb, Disney+ is pushing that particular idea. You can’t really discount the fact that there are a few Christmas themes throughout the movie such as Jingle Bell Rock being played in the background and Santa hats and other common visuals to mark the season, but the idea that Tony is suffering some major Ptsd and anxiety issues unfortunately seems

Now that they’ve merged with Fox, Disney has access to many defunct franchises that the other studio wasn’t doing much with, and at a recent quarterly earnings conference, the Mouse House confirmed they were going to do something about that. CEO Bob Iger revealed that reboots of such family-friendly franchises like Home Alone, Night at the Museum and Cheaper by the Dozen are on their way to the Disney Plus streaming service.
There’s been a mixed reaction to all of these properties getting relaunched, but fans are protective of Home Alone the most. The original 1990 movie, and by extension its 1992 sequel, is a holiday classic that many of us watch every Christmas, so understandably folks don’t see much point in remaking it. Especially as there are so many redundant follow-ups as it is (did you know Home Alone 5 came out in 2012?).

Remember when Macaulay Culkin revisited his “Home Alone” character Kevin McAllister for a fun, nostalgic Google Home commercial? Who needs booby-trapped doors and paint cans on strings when you have the Google Assistant? In a look at what a “Home Alone” remake might resemble in 2018, Macaulay Culkin reprised his role as Kevin McAllister from the 1990 holiday classic for this Google Assistant ad.
Now that he’s a resourceful adult but still with the house to himself, Culkin’s Kevin is utilizing Google Assistant to do everything, from telling him what’s on his calendar, to ordering aftershave, to responding to the pizza delivery guy at the front door, and finally turning on the lights and fireplace to scare off an invading Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern.
“Hey Google, begin Operation Kevin,” Culkin said in the commercial. Maybe for the sequel, he could get Google to book him tickets to New York City and set a reminder for his parents.

Between “Ocean’s 8,” “Overboard,” a remake of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” called “The Hustle” and a follow-up to “What Women Want” called “What Men Want,” the surge of gender-swapped reboots in recent years is real. It’s a smart way of dusting off proven properties with a fresh point of view. And thankfully, there’s been an equal push to not just remake old movies with women but provide the right amount of diversity on screen in original properties as well. There’s still a long way to go though, and we polled the women of TheWrap to see what favorite films they’d like to see get gender-swapped next.
