Teri Hatcher is getting serious about comedy.
The actor is no stranger to delivering jokes or being put in humorous situations on-screen, from her iconic guest star appearance on “Seinfeld” to eight seasons of often outlandish moments on “Desperate Housewives.” For the last few years she has been balancing television gigs with performing stand-up sets on stage, and now the two are mixing in the Showtime special “Even More Funny Women of a Certain Age.”
“I started writing and performing my first versions of what I would call funny stories maybe five years ago. I was doing that with some really great comedic writers; we would do shows that were for charity in front of audiences of 300 or 400 people. That was kind of the beginning of me looking at just performing a funny story,” Hatcher tells Variety.

My first encounter with a Negroni cocktail was courtesy of Carlos Marvez, a noted architect out of Miami. He was also the father of my long-time friend, Monique Marvez, the voice of Kfi Am Saturday nights.Ever since the inception of “Negroni Week” and the ever-increasing obsession with the Negroni, a perfect alliance of three ingredients that become much more than the sum of the whole, my thoughts return to Carlos Marvez. The Negroni was his last cocktail on earth in the summer of 2007. In August of that year I had accompanied Monique to Miami to visit her ailing father. Carlos put on a […]...

Give it up for Showtime, unlike HBO, the network has a love affair with comics still. We get to look forward to the one woman show for Monique Marvez (Snoop Dogg's Bad Girls of Comedy, Original Latin Divas) in March, and we mourn the passing of the excellent comedy series "Green Room with Paul Provenza," a crackling effort that should by all rights Still be on the air, considering the talent it pulled in. My suggestion to Showtime is cut the wincingly awkward "Gigolos" and "Polyamory" stuff and go whole hog into comedy - it's a void they would fill nicely. The last thing Showtime wants is to become "Skinamax" (Cinemax) especially now that Cinemax is on fire...
