Two years ago she almost lost everything over a 20-year-old deposition in which she used the “n” word and now Paula Deen is back in the hot seat again.
The 68-year-old celebrity chef posted a photo via Twitter of herself dressed as Lucille Ball on Tuesday (July 7), and unfortunately that same snapshot included Paula’s son Bobby Deen wearing brown face paint and posing as Desi Arnaz’s character Ricky Ricardo.
Of course, it took only minutes for critics to begin weighing in, posting messages like, “Paula, *you* have a lot of esplainin’ to do,” “Is that Hispanic version of blackface? Lord… she’ll never learn… f*ckin batsh*t,” and, “you do realize that brown face is not ok either right?” Ms. Deen has since removed the photo.

And while Paula is wearing a red wig to emulate Lucy's signature flaming hair, her son is shown with brown face paint to depict the Cuban-American actor. Shortly after posting the image, many commented on Paula's page that the tweet was insensitive and racist, at best. Her rep explained this morning's tweet to E! "That word, that horrifying terrible word that exists and I abhor it coming from any person, is not in my vocabulary, it's definitely not in my brother's vocabulary, it's not in my mother's vocabulary," Bobby Deen told CNN's Chris Cuomo on Tuesday's "New Day." "We were not raised in a home where that word was used and that's not who we are, that's not the home that we were raised in."

They come from a close-knit southern family, so when Jamie and Bobby Deen heard their mother Paula Deen was in trouble, they couldn’t help but speak out.
The brothers appeared on “New Day” earlier today (June 25) to hopefully put an end to the notion that their famous chef mom is racist in any way.
Bobby stated, “Neither one of our parents ever taught us to be bigoted towards any other person for any reason.”
Furthermore Jamie recounted a memory of Paula getting him some Hank Aaron pajamas back in 1975, when she told him the African American baseball player’s story and encouraged him to never judge anyone based on the color of their skin.

Paula Deen's two sons Jamie and Bobby -- who have appeared with the TV chef on various shows -- are vigorously defending their mother following the backlash triggered by her recent admission in a deposition that she has used the N-word in the past.
"Our mother was under oath asked in a deposition to pour over her entire life and to admit whether or not she had ever heard or used this word, and it broke her heart to have to answer truthfully and say yes, that she had," Bobby Deen told CNN's Chris Cuomo.

In the wake of Paula Deen being out at the Food Network (after admitting in a deposition to using the N-word), don't expect to see her selling her cookware on QVC anytime soon either.
A rep for QVC tells TMZ that they have "concerns" over the "unfortunate Paula Deen situation."
"Please know that QVC does not tolerate discriminatory behavior. We are closely monitoring these events and we are reviewing our business relationship with Ms. Deen. In the meantime, we have no immediate plans to have her appear on QVC."
There is no word yet as to whether Deen's episode of "Masterchef" will run this summer as planned.
Even though Deen is now persona non gratis all around the food world, son Bobby Deen will maintain his show at the Food Network.

Bobby Deen, son of famed Southern chef Paula Deen, has recently returned from a tour promoting his new book, "From Mama's Table to Mine: Everybody's Favorite Comfort Foods at 350 Calories or Less."
In it, he takes some of the fat- and sugar-laden recipes his mother built her culinary career on and adapts them for the more health-conscious gourmet. It's similar to what he does on his Wednesday Cooking Channel show, "Not My Mama's Meals" (which also airs Sundays on Food Network).
While on the tour, people have been concerned that the effort could cause a mother-son rift.
"They want to know if my mom is mad at me," Deen tells Zap2it, "for what I'm doing to her recipes. I get that question a lot: 'Is your mom mad?' She's not. When I was a kid growing up, my mom was the one who taught me how to cook,...

Weeks ago, Paula Deen announced that she's had Type 2 diabetes for the past three years, a story that captivated the food community and divided it into two fervent camps of Deen supporters and detractors. Yesterday, Huffington Post reporter Naughty But Nice Rob quoted an anonymous source close to the Food Network that indicated Deen has no plans to change her TV cooking until at least 2013:
"Before Paula's announcement the producers of her show, Gordon Elliott's Follow That Productions, had delivered enough shows to run until the end of 2012. None of the shows address her bombshell statement and none of the shows make any attempt to change the way she cooks, even though they obviously knew what was going on when she filmed them."
Another network insider added that Deen's representatives don't plan on re-editing the already-filmed shows or making any changes, saying, "As far as they're concerned, they...

New York -- Celebrity chef Paula Deen on Wednesday pledged a portion of her earnings from a lucrative endorsement deal with a diabetes drugmaker to the nonprofit American Diabetes Association.
The queen of Southern cooking and author of numerous cookbooks disclosed Tuesday that she's had Type 2 diabetes for three years while promoting high-fat, high-sugar recipes as usual on her Food Network TV shows. She also said Tuesday that she'd signed on as the face of a new diabetes health initiative sponsored by Novo Nordisk, the company that makes Victoza, a noninsulin injectable medication she now takes.
In a segment of ABC's food chat show "The Chew" that aired Wednesday, Deen said she and her two grown sons, Bobby and Jamie, are working with the drug company's Diabetes in a New Light campaign "because we, like everybody else, have to work."
