NBC dropped some good news to take us into the weekend.
The network unveiled its 2024 fall schedule, highlighting fan-favorite franchise dramas, two nights of laughs, huge unscripted hits and the biggest and best live specials and holiday programming.

Three new series are set to premiere in the fall, including the drama Brilliant Minds, starring Zachary Quinto and inspired by the true story of a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist, Oliver Wolf, and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier — the human mind — while also grappling with their own relationships and mental health.

Tacoma Fd is one of the funniest and wackiest workplace comedies. The truTV series follows a crew of firefighters in one of the rainiest cities in America. Lauren Ash, who played Dina in NBC‘s breakout hit Superstore believes that the show won’t be gone for long. In fact, she is pretty confident the series will be picked up again and even include the original cast.
“I think that that, for that show, I mean it’ll be of course logistically scheduling-wise an absolute nightmare cluster,” she joked on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast. “I can’t speak for anybody, but I really do think that there is a lot of good, all of us have a lot of goodwill towards that show and each other. And I feel like I could definitely see it happening. I’m putting it out there.”

Superstore ended in 2021 after six seasons. Fans were sad to see the series go and certainly believed that the employees of Cloud 9 had more stories to tell. At least one cast member agrees. Jon Barinholtz, the actor who portrayed Marcus White in the series, would be onboard for a Superstore reunion. The beloved NBC show still has fans.
Why was ‘Superstore’ canceled?
In 2020, NBC shocked Superstore fans when it announced that season 6 would be the series’ last. The cancelation came as a big surprise. Superstore had done fairly well for NBC, and fans were still attracted to the show week after week.
While NBC never gave a definitive reason for the cancelation, industry experts are pretty certain America Ferrera’s decision to leave the series greatly impacted when and where it ended. According to Newsweek, Ferrera’s departure signaled to NBC that it was time to wrap things up.

If there is one word to summarize “Never Have I Ever,” Season 3, that word would be Trent.
The jock character played by Benjamin Norris and used in early seasons as comic relief becomes a major player in Season 3, dating Eleanor (Ramona Young), standing by best friend Paxton (Darren Barnet), and continuing to bring the laughs wherever he goes.
It’s not the only time Norris has played a lovable weirdo. After debuting Trent in “Never Have I Ever” Season 1, he had an arc in the final season of “Superstore” as Sandra’s (Kaliko Kauahi) adult adoptee and proud shark owner, Tony.
“I love those characters that people are gonna kind of glance twice at and laugh and be like, ‘Man, what an interesting guy,'” Norris told IndieWire in a phone interview. “These are kind of the roles that are right in my wheelhouse.”

Getting to see all the characters at that barbecue, I thought was really sweet. Getting to see Dina and Garrett happier than we’ve ever seen them getting to see little bits of Amy and Jonah, so we know they’re together, we know that they’re married, they had a honeymoon, they had another child. After six seasons and 113 episodes, “Superstore” wrapped things up with a well-received finale on March 25. The episode ended with Cloud 9 Superstore #1217 shutting its doors and turning into a warehouse fulfillment center for parent company Zephra, and the team from the Ozark Highlands store splitting up.
But even as the show — and the store — closed up, the series wrapped up storylines and left nearly everyone in a hopeful place. Even Carol was invited to their alumni picnic, even though she’s Carol.
Before taping the finale, the cast gathered on Zoom for their final table read, and Variety has the exclusive video of that moment. The table read, which took place on February 19, was for Episode 615, “All Sales Final,” which aired on March 25.
Creator/executive producer Justin Spitzer introduces the read, along with showrunners/executive producers Gabe Miller and Jonathan Green. Spitzer, Miller and Green wrote the finale, which was directed by Ruben Fleischer.

It felt surreal to see “Superstore” wind down to its final episodes. Despite running six full seasons at a time when sitcoms more and more rarely get the chance, “Superstore” never had a dip in quality that signaled its natural end. It was consistently, impressively funny and adaptable. That its creators would have to eventually figure out the curveball of a premature cancellation, and that they nailed it, makes a sad but fitting end for a show that always embraced the opportunity to change with the times.
Many people, myself included, have written plenty about how well “Superstore,” a sitcom about the employees of a Walmart-esque big box store, dealt with capital i Issues over the years. Its first two seasons alone tackled topics like gun control, birth control, racism and the everyday peril of being undocumented, as well as a union drive that would eventually fold under incredible corporate pressure.

In the Season 6 episode of “Superstore” titled “Customer Appreciation,” Jonah (Ben Feldman) gets put in his place.
The corporate executives at Zephra — a tech conglomerate that owns the Cloud 9 superstore chain — have been stressing the importance of customer appreciation surveys, using those oft-ignored links at the bottom of every receipt to rank the efficiency, popularity, and general value of each store — never mind that, as Dina (Lauren Ash) says, people only use receipts “to spit out gum and for murder alibis.”
Still, if that’s what matters to corporate, that’s what matters to the workers. Cheyanne (Nichole Sakura) puts the most people-pleasing employees on the registers, hoping their charm will buoy the store’s score, and then she discovers a harsh truth: Jonah is not good with customers. Maybe he once was, but now there are complaints that he talks too much at checkout and makes the store’s guests uncomfortable.

The doors of Cloud 9 will close for the final time next month. NBC has set Thursday, March 25 at 8 pm for the one-hour series finale of its hit comedy Superstore.
The network announced in December that the series would end with its current sixth season and a total of 113 episodes. The cancellation followed the exit of star America Ferrera earlier in the season. The series, set in the fictional big-box store Cloud 9, also stars Ben Feldman, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nico Santos, Nichole Sakura, Kaliko Kauahi and Mark McKinney.
Created by Justin Spitzer, the critically praised series has examined many of the country’s most topical issues, including health care, immigration, unionization, the plight of the retail worker and more through its own comedic lens. It has consistently been one of NBC’s strongest comedies, reaching more than 37 million viewers last season.

“Superstore” is officially shutting up shop.
The NBC comedy is set to end after its current sixth season, which has been interrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Episode 113 will be its last, meaning there are 11 episodes left to air.
The show’s end comes as no great surprise, given that its biggest star America Ferrera departed in the second episode of season 6, leaving a gaping hole in the single-camera set in fictional big box store Cloud 9. It has also been struggling a little in the ratings of late, averaging only a 0.8 among adults 18-49 and 3.3 million total viewers after seven days of delayed viewing (season 5 averaged a 1.1 and 3.8 million for comparison).
“Superstore” will be back from its Winter hiatus on Thursday, Jan. 14, and will end in the spring.

Cloud 9 is closing for good as NBC’s Superstore is coming to an end with its sixth season.
The network is ending the show after this current run – taking the total number of episodes of the single-camera comedy to 113.
It comes after America Ferrera departed the show earlier this season. Ferrera, who was set to exit at the end of season five, guest starred in the first two episodes of this season, which returned at the end of October.
The show returns on Thursday January 14 at 8:30pm with 11 more episodes to air this season.

Just four days after her final episode aired on NBC, the network has released footage of Ferrera’s series wrap. The semi-essential workers on Superstore return from their summer — and early-fall — hiatus for Season 6 on October 29, and NBC has released a promo (watch it below).
After Season 5 was cut short because of the pandemic, the new episodes certainly will address the dominant topic of 2020, as we see the Cloud 9 staff deal with coronavirus protocols and an errant sneeze near the pharmacy. Season 6 also will deal with the exit of star America Ferrera, who announced in February that she was leaving the show. Only half of her Amy character’s two-part finale had aired, so Ferrera will appear in

Superstore and pandemic comedy Connecting are moving back a week as NBC continues to shuffle its fall schedule.
Superstore will return on Thursday October 29, having previously been dated for Thursday October 22 at 8pm, while Connecting, which was originally set for Thursday October 1 at 8:30pm will move to Thursday October 1.
This comes 24 hours after NBC moved up the premiere of season five of This Is Us with the family drama launching with a two-hour premiere on October 27.
The sixth season of Superstore will see the exit of star America Ferrera. However, the actress will guest star in the first two episodes of the season after the Covid-19 production shutdown meant that only one half of her two part finale aired. In addition to appearing in the season opener, as she says goodbye to her colleagues, she will also return for the second episode.

There are plenty of superstars on television, but only a few icons. Let’s make it clear: Rita Moreno is one of those icons. For kids of my generation, we first knew her as the lady who screamed “Hey you guys!” at the start of PBS’ “The Electric Company.” My parents, of course, knew her as the spitfire in 1961’s “West Side Story.” Now, my kids know her as Lydia, the outspoken grandmother on “One Day at a Time.”
I’ve known Rita Moreno as a legend since the moment I knew what the word meant. Yet that didn’t prepare me for the raucous phone call I had with her early in the Covid-19 pandemic. With production halted on “One Day,” Moreno was back at her house in the Bay Area when I called to get her picks for Variety’s “TV Guilty Pleasure” feature.

The cast of Superstore kicked off their Comic-Con@Home panel with a “Comic-Con 2020: The Essential at Home Guide” instructional video that looked very much like a dated Human Resources video you would watch during a new-hire orientation. It was very much on-brand for the NBC workplace comedy.
The video included cast members Laura Ash (Dina), Ben Feldman (Jonah), Mark McKinney (Glenn), Colton Dunn (Garrett), Nico Santos (Mateo), Nichole Sakura (Cheyenne) and Kaliko Kauahi (Sandra) adapting to an at-home version of Comic-Con. This included Feldman talking to an audience of stuffed animals, Ash camping out in a non-existent line to Hall H and Sakura cosplaying as Pikachu.
This was a fun lead in to the virtual panel moderated by Ash. When the Zoom screen popped up, someone was noticeably missing (besides America Ferrera): Mr. Dunn. Turned out he had the wrong time and was scrambling to sign on to Zoom for the panel.

Attention shoppers: NBC has ordered Superstore season 6 for all your comedy needs.
Hours of operation have once again been extended for NBC's big box store comedy Superstore.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has ordered another season of Superstore bringing its total run thus far up to six seasons. Blue-collar comedy Superstore continues to be the unsung hero of NBC’s Thursday comedy lineup. And in recognition of its solid ratings performance, the network has ordered four more episodes, bringing its Season 5 total to 22.
That is considered a full-season order, and, besides the first season, which was short as Superstore started off as a midseason replacement, the comedy has gotten full-season orders every year. It is expected to be the only NBC comedy series this season to produce 22 episodes.
It is unclear why Superstore had a 18-episode fifth season pickup to begin with, but the back order also is a vote of confidence to the series following the showrunner change at the end of Season 4, with creator Justin Spitzer stepping down and Gabe Miller & Jonathan Green taking over.
So far in its fifth season, Superstore is averaging a 1.2 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.9 million viewers overall in Live+7. It...
