The Deadliest Catch captains found themselves in deep water on the upcoming episode of Celebrity Family Feud as a tricky question about strip clubs left them floundering. Captains Sig Hansen, Keith Colburn, Jake Anderson, “Wild” Bill Wichrowski, and Johnathan Hillstrand will appear on Monday’s (September 16) 3-hour primetime Family Feud event on ABC, where they will face off against Star Trek universe actors Wilson Cruz, Celia Rose Gooding, Wil Wheaton, Dawnn Lewis, and Sonequa Martin-Green. In a clip shared by Entertainment Weekly, the Discovery Channel stars are asked by host Steve Harvey to “name something in a strip club a man might like to have in his man cave.” This question proves especially difficult for Anderson, who can only come up with “bra.” After Harvey reacts to the audience’s stunned response, Anderson adds, “I can’t believe underwear didn’t go on there.” The Deadliest Catch guys receive a...

The hit Discovery Channel series “Deadliest Catch” is shaking things up in its 20th season with a new captain at the helm of the F/V Seabrooke. Sophia “Bob” Nielsen, a 23-year-old third-generation fisherwoman who made her debut in Season 19, has been given a second chance after facing setbacks with her own vessel.
Nielsen, who joined the show as the captain of F/V Victory, encountered significant challenges in her rookie year. Despite bringing in 40,000 pounds of crab, she faced technical difficulties and a collision that left her $200,000 in debt. Now, thanks to a lifeline from Captain Greg Wallace of the Seabrooke, Nielsen has the opportunity to hone her skills and prove herself as a capable captain.
This transition hasn’t been without controversy. Megan Wallace, Captain Greg’s daughter and a longtime crew member of the Seabrooke, has expressed reservations about Nielsen’s rapid ascent to the captain’s chair.

Crab fishing is not a job for the weak. But for those willing to take on the risk – like the cast of Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch – the payoff can be substantial. Captains of Alaskan fishing boats can make good money, with Jake Anderson once sharing that he grossed more than $2 million from just 11 days of fishing. But what about the deckhands who work under them?
How much does the average fisherman earn? ‘Deadliest Catch’ | Discovery Channel
Salaries for people who work in commercial fishing can vary widely. A deckhand’s earnings will usually be based on each boat’s total catch, which can be unpredictable from season to season. The median annual wage for fishing and hunting workers is $28,530, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Jake Anderson nearly lost F/V Saga in Deadliest Catch in 2021 during bad weather. But this year, Discovery Channel fans heard that he really did lose her. Only, not to the sea. Recently, he opened up about how devastating it was. Fortunately, Sig Hansen helped with work and now he’s got another boat.
Jake Anderson Started Out On The Northwestern
As a learner crabbing fisherman in the Bering Sea, Jake worked on the Northwestern. And, in Season 20, Discovery Channel previews showed him working on it again. He’d started as a skateboarder, did some fishing, and had some addiction problems. However, he ended up managing a multi-million dollar crabbing company. Unfortunately, he lost his vessel and it wasn’t his fault.

Deadliest Catch is back, but one familiar boat is missing. In the season 20 premiere, Captain Jake Anderson received some devastating news about the F/V Saga that jeopardized his chances at a successful crab fishing season.
The F/V Saga has been repossessed
Crab fishing is a high-risk endeavor at the best of times. But with the Red King Crab fishery open for the first time in years, Anderson was hopeful that he could make some good money this season. However, a successful haul can’t happen if he doesn’t have a boat.
“A couple weeks ago, I got a call from my partner saying that the Saga is possibly running out of money. King Crab’s open, and that was going to get us out of the hole, easily,” Anderson explained in the premiere, which aired June 11 on Discovery Channel. “But I had no idea that things were this bad.

Economic pressures play a role as well, as fishermen lay it all on the line in an attempt to stay afloat for another season. The result? Captain Sig Hanson made some decisions about his 18-year-old daughter, Mandy Hanson that angered his crew. Furthermore, rough weather conditions made things uncomfortable for the Deadliest Catch crew as they hauled in the crabs in the stormy Bering Sea.
Discovery Channel’s Captain Sig Hanson Has A Hardworking Crew
Some people don’t like the direction that the Discovery show takes at the moment. And, it doesn’t seem to be about the fact that more women are at sea. Actually, it’s about them not pulling their weight. Viewers are already familiar with Sophia Nielsen on F/V Victory. In Mandy’s case, it’s more about her boss-dad favoring her. Naturally, it’s a hard and dangerous job, and the crew doesn’t like to go shorthanded.

If the Discovery Channel was angling for a hit show, then they hauled it in with the “Deadliest Catch,” which premiered in 2005 and has aired every year since.
The documentary series, narrated by Mike Rowe, follows crab fishermen and crab boats as they ply their dangerous and sometimes deadly trade in the Bering Sea during the Alaskan king crab and snow crab fishing seasons. The base for the crab fleet is the Aleutian Islands port of Dutch Harbor, Alaska.
Through the years of the TV show’s airing, it has proven popular around the globe, making the skippers, their crewman, and their boats, celebrities in their own right.
This year’s season, which kicks off with a two-hour premiere on April 19, finds the crews of nine crab vessels trying to cope with the Alaskan government shutting down red king crab catching for the season. You’ll also find them contending with the usual treacherous seas,...
