The entertainment industry hasn’t always been quite as diverse and open-minded as it is today. From racial discrimination to disparity based on sexuality, as confessed by actors themselves, Hollywood has been a mess for a long time. Take, for example, when late actor Kevin Conroy revealed losing roles because of his homosexuality, before landing Batman: The Animated Series in 1992.

After facing years of discrimination, Kevin Conroy eventually shared the experiences of being a gay actor in Hollywood. Perhaps his grieving words opened the eyes of millions and became an inspiration for change. Thus, years after Conroy’s work as Batman in the Dcau, bisexual actress Stephanie Beatriz could work with ease as Batwoman in Catwoman: Hunted.

Supernatural stars are involved in some way in three of the new dramas The CW has ordered to series. The network has ordered for the 2022-2023 season prequels to two of its hit shows, Supernatural and Walker, The Winchesters and Walker: Independence respectively, as well as Gotham Knights, which while set in Gotham City and connected to Bruce Wayne, is not a spinoff of Batwoman (that series focused on Bruce’s cousin Kate Kane and was canceled after three seasons). Jensen Ackles is an executive producer on and will serve as the narrator (as Dean) of The Winchesters, Jared Padalecki is an executive producer on Walker: Independence, and Misha Collins will be playing Harvey Dent on Gotham Knights. The Winchesters goes back to before Sam (Padalecki) and Dean to tell the epic, untold love story of how their parents, John and Mary, met, and how they put it all on...

[Editor’s note: The following article contains spoilers for “The Batman.”]
Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” hit theaters March 4, and while Robert Pattinson stunned as Bruce Wayne, we still have a few questions that the World’s Greatest Detective didn’t quite clear up.
Pattinson certainly left his stamp on the famed DC superhero, following in the footsteps (most notably) of Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, George Clooney, Val Kilmer, and Michael Keaton’s respective takes on the Caped Crusader. Co-written and directed by Reeves, “The Batman” admittedly is a “sad movie,” per star Pattinson.
“It’s kind of about him trying to find some element of hope, in himself, and not just the city. Normally, Bruce never questions his own ability; he questions the city’s ability to change,” Pattinson told GQ. “But I mean, it’s kind of such an insane thing to do: ‘The only way I can live is to dress up as a bat.'”

Ruby Rose is doubling down on her comments of a toxic workplace on The CW's Batwoman.
The former Kate Kane actress has shed more light on her time on the set of the Arrowverse series.
The actress shared screenshots of emails she sent to her manager in February 2020 in which she said she was having issues on the show.
Rose said she was "so close to being done" with the series because of "the atmos [sic], the b.s, the investigation/surgery."
She further elaborated in a follow-up post.
"I meant walk today until I can get my breath and have a talk with SAG [Screen Actors Guild] and or Greg [Berlanti, producer] and just everyone except maybe Caroline [Dries, showrunner] to work this whole thing out."
Another email shared was allegedly from Greg Berlanti in which he had a positive response to her time on the show.
The actress then made some more allegations about showrunner Caroline Dries.

Another person associated with The CW's Batwoman is speaking out against Ruby Rose.
Alexander J. Baxter, who worked on Batwoman Season 1 issued a statement exclusively to Cbr to detail his experience of working with Rose.
Rose came forward this week with allegations of a toxic set, and Baxter has said there were various issues on the set, but they were thanks to Ruby.
Baxter detailed the other shows he worked on in the statement and said that scoring work on Batwoman was a highlight.
He called the production company professional and fantastic but said that the issues kicked off on the first day with Rose.

It's been a wild week for fans of Batwoman.
Ruby Rose took to Instagram this week to drop a string of allegations against Warner Bros, the Batwoman showrunner, and EPs on the show.
In the aftermath, Warner Bros. TV refuted the claims in a damning statement.
The statement reads as follows:
“Despite the revisionist history that Ruby Rose is now sharing online aimed at the producers, the cast and crew, the network, and the Studio, the truth is that Warner Bros. Television had decided not to exercise its option to engage Ruby for season two of ‘Batwoman’ based on multiple complaints about workplace behavior that were extensively reviewed and handled privately out of respect for all concerned.”
After that, Rose's former co-star, Dougray Scott, who was at the center of some of the allegations, addressed the former Kate Kane star's claims.

Batwoman alum Dougray Scott “absolutely” refutes allegations made by his onetime TV daughter, Ruby Rose, about his on-set behavior.
Amid a sea of Wednesday-morning Instagram Stories, Rose admitted that she “fought people on set, yes, not because I wanted to but because I wanted safety” — yet “never raised my voice on a set” during her one-season run. Conversely, Kate Kane’s former portrayer alleged that Scott (who played Jacob Kane through Season 2) “hurt a female stunt double” and “yelled like a little bitch at women and was a nightmare. He left when he wanted and arrived when he wanted [and verbally] abused women.

Update 11:30 Am: Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind the CW drama Batwoman, has released a strongly worded statement in response to former star Ruby Rose’s scathing attack on the show, its producers and former co-star Dougray Scott as well as the studio’s former top executive this morning. In the statement, Warner Bros. TV corroborates Rose’s claim that they were fired from the show, but calls Rose’s account “revisionist history” and says that the action was the result of an internal probe into “multiple complaints about workplace behavior” against the actor. Such an investigation into Rose’s behavior on Batwoman had long been rumored but not officially confirmed until today.

She also shared a series of allegations against Caroline Dries (Batwoman showrunner), her former co-star Dougray Scott, and former Warner Bros. TV boss, Peter Roth.
As for Dries, Rose claimed she only visited the set a handful of times and tried to rush production of Batwoman Season 1 as other shows were shut down due to Covid-19.

Batwoman‘s second season had a lot of ground to cover following the departure of Ruby Rose as Kate Kane post-Season 1. Let’s recap! Season 2 introduced Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) as the new titular hero with Ryan finding the Batsuit among the wreckage of Kate Kane’s crashed plane. From there, she decides to use the suit to get justice for her adoptive mother’s death. Mary and Luke let Ryan keep the suit warm and keep the city safe while they wait for Kate to return, eventually growing into a tight team of their own.
Season 2 had to ask the question: what happened to Kate Kane? And devoted much of its top half exploring the answer. Exclusive: Another new character is heading to Gotham for the third season of Batwoman. Nick Creegan has been cast as a new series regular opposite Javicia Leslie in the CW drama series.
Creegan will play Marquis Jet. A sexy playboy who grew up in a lavish lifestyle, Marquis is too charming for his own good and wields his power with a ne’er do well attitude. He views life as one big joke and that sense of recklessness has a tendency to clash horribly with his no-nonsense mother Jada Jet. When he meets Ryan (Leslie), he sees in her a like-minded young go-getter who like him is just waiting for the right opportunity to make his mark on Gotham.
He joins recently announced new series regular Victoria Cartagena as Renee Montoya.

Exclusive: DC hero Renee Montoya is coming to the rescue in Gotham City. Victoria Cartagena has joined the upcoming third season of Batwoman as a new series regular, portraying Renee in the CW drama.
Cartagena’s Montoya is a former Gcpd officer who left the force when she could no longer stomach the corruption inside the department. She now runs the “freaks division,” which hasn’t seen a lot of action… until now. Righteous and pragmatic, and LGBTQ+, she’s a woman with a very personal (and mysterious) mission to help clean the streets of Gotham in the right way, by whatever means necessary.
Cartagena previously played Renee Montoya on Fox’s Gotham, though the universes are not connected.

Robin Givens is making a beeline for Gotham City!
Deadline reports that the Riverdale and Ambitions actress has joined the cast of Batwoman Season 3.
Givens has been added to the cast Jada Jet, the powerful CEO of Jet Industries.
Jet is described as a “passionate and hard-working woman” who has “worked her way through life’s ups and downs to climb her way to the top, all while being extremely protective of her impetuous son."
"A woman with a deep past that forced her to give up her first-born child, Jada is a woman with a good heart, but will do whatever it takes to protect her family.”
With that character breakdown, it's easy to assume that Jada Jet could be the mother of Ryan Wilder, the titular superhero played by Javicia Leslie.

The Kane family has all but completely left Gotham. The Season 2 finale of “Batwoman” marked the official departure of not just Kate Kane, a role originated by Ruby Rose in Season 1 and taken over by Wallis Day in Season 2, but also her father Jacob Kane, played by Dougray Scott for the first two seasons of the show.
Scott did not appear in the finale itself, as his character was transferred to a prison in Metropolis in episode 16 of the season. After disbanding the Crows for their brutality and deeply ingrained corruption, Jacob Kane found himself at the mercy of Roman Sionis, also known as Black Mask (Peter Outerbridge).
Having taken control of the Gcpd, Sionis had Kane arrested for aiding and abetting his daughter, Alice (Rachel Skarsten). Since Blackgate prison was full of criminals Kane himself had locked up, he was transferred to Metropolis for safety as he awaited trial...

Gotham City will be down two members of the Kane family on Batwoman Season 3.
Entertainment Weekly is reporting that both Dougray Scott and Wallis Day will not be back on the superhero drama.
“This character of Jacob had sort of run its course, for better or for worse,” showrunner Caroline Dries explained to the outlet.
“We ended up being able to really write to a good ending for Jacob, just kind of knowing in advance that’s what we were going to do…. It allowed us to give Dougray some really rich stuff toward the end.”
“Having Dougray Scott as Jacob Kane on Batwoman was incredibly special for all of us,” Dries shared in a statement.
“An actor with his pedigree and reputation elevates any project, and he had great chemistry with his castmates."

Dougray Scott has left the CW’s Batwoman after two seasons. His final appearance as a series regular on the show was in Episode 16, two weeks before tonight’s season finale.
Batwoman developer/executive producer/showrunner Caroline Dries confirmed Scott’s exit to EW. “The story was just lending itself of wrapping up the Crows because we took such a hard stance against police brutality this season and really used the Crows,” she told the publication. “Once we kind of made that decision – and obviously Kate isn’t staying on the show – this character of Jacob had sort of run its course, for better or for worse, through that story line.”

To be perfectly honest, considering everything that has happened this season, I'm not actually sure what sort of finale I was hoping for.
But Batwoman Season 2 Episode 18 served up a good dose of closure, provided ample fodder for future adventures, and tipped a [top]hat or two to memorable visuals from Batwoman Season 1.
There were the usual loose ends. What did they do with Bane, er, Tavaroff? With Alice locked away, who's going to release Safiyah from her Desert Rose dagger stasis?
Is anyone going to wonder where Roman Sionis went? Or why Kate Kane now looks like the cover girl for Janus cosmetics?
Ryan's insecurity was some of the most genuine emotions we've seen and that saying something considering everything Javicia Leslie has poured into this role.
We've always needed a hero, Gotham. But, in this moment, maybe that's not me.

Spoiler Warning: Do not read if you haven’t seen Season 1, Episode 3 of “Loki,” streaming now on Disney Plus.
Marvel Studios has its first official Lgbtqia+ superhero — or, depending on your point of view, supervillain.
On the latest episode of the Disney Plus series “Loki,” Tom Hiddleston’s titular god of mischief confirms what had been long established in the pages of Marvel comics, that he is bisexual.
It happens during a conversation Loki has with a Loki “variant” named Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), who revealed herself at the end of last week’s episode just as she launched her grand scheme to wreak havoc on the Time Variance Authority. As they sit on a train waiting to arrive at a critical destination, the discussion turns to love. Sylvie says she’s been in “a serious, long-distance relationship with a postman” while she skitters through time and across apocalypses to avoid detection by the Tva.

Batwoman is entering a new era, one where both women who’ve donned the Batsuit in the CW-verse are alive at the same time. When Kate Kane disappeared and her suit washed up on the shore, Ryan saw an opportunity to find justice. Since then she’s taken over the responsibilities of being Batwoman, and made the suit and the persona her own. But, in universe, her time as Batwoman was always meant to be temporary, as Luke reminded her constantly. She was a placeholder for Kate, a stand-in. Ryan’s relationship to Mary and Luke have evolved past that, but the foundation of that relationship is still built on the idea of Ryan’s impermanence.
When Ryan went to Coryana to find Kate, she did so knowing that success meant bequeathing her new life and—possibly—her new relationships. She can...

Of the many things Batwoman Season 2 Episode 17 revealed to us, I think the one that stood out for me was that Batman keeps souvenirs.
I mean, if he wasn't such a packrat for villainous weaponry and tech, this would be a much more cut-and-dried finale showdown.
But, instead of Team Batwoman (with Batwing! Yay!) facing an army of already over-weaponized ex-Crows, they now need to worry about being hit by everything from Mr. Freeze's blaster to Scarecrow's fear toxin to Poison Ivy's carnivorous plants.
Things are looking bleak for the good guys.
Which pretty much guarantees that Alice is going to have to pinch-hit for the home team.
Her arc here was a dramatic shift from inconsolable widow to the vengeance-driven sadist we've kind of been missing since she got her Ocean memories back.
Once I have everything I need to give me back my island, you've my blessing...

A war is coming to Gotham on The CW’s “Batwoman.” And though it may look like Safiyah and Roman Sionis are the ones waging it, the wildcard in the battle between good and evil is Circe Sionis because, according to Wallis Day — who plays both Circe and Kate Kane, currently duking it out for control of her psyche — Circe “has the ability to really f— up Gotham.”
Granted, that’s thanks in large part to her new toys. By the end of this week’s “Batwoman,” Circe has not only tricked the Bat Team into showing her the Bat Cave, but she also runs off with the suit and some dangerous toys, the most powerful of which is a chunk of Kryptonite that she uses to make some “alterations” to the suit. It’s a terrifying moment, but one that was really fun for Day to play out.

Many questions were answered as Batwoman Season 2 Episode 16 broke several big reveals in blessedly uncomplicated ways.
Kate/Circe's dual existence is revealed quickly and beyond a shadow of a doubt, while Safiyah's connection to Roman is finally confirmed.
Luke's return to the land of the living is understandably rough, but at least he came clean with Ryan about the issue. (Those with long memories will recall that it took Buffy six weeks and a song-and-dance demon to 'fess up to her Scooby gang.)
He also got some of his own back with Tavaroff at the poker table and spent some quality time with John "Spartan" Diggle. So, #Winning
Throw into the mix all of Alice's crazy boyfriend/father/ex-queen-boss shenanigans And a sword-swinging Tatiana, and we have a proper forerunner to a helluva Batwoman Season 2 finale.
Of course, taken as a whole, this particular Batwoman offering wasn't actually all the Batwoman-centric.

Luke Fox is having a particularly rough go of things right now. And on Sunday’s episode of “Batwoman,” those struggles manifested in some pretty dangerous ways for our resident tech genius.
Having reluctantly survived his encounter with Agent Taveroff, Luke isn’t exactly in the best headspace, and finds himself actively seeking out a confrontation with his would-be killer. And after successfully beating Taveroff in Texas hold ‘em — even with Taveroff’s cheating — a confrontation is exactly what Luke gets.
Fortunately, a new friend is nearby to intervene: “Arrow” Mvp John Diggle (as always played by guest star David Ramsey). He’s well aware of who Luke is, though the same can’t be said for the younger Fox. Still, the two make a connection and by the end of the night, it’s Diggle that really ignites the spark that will lead Luke to eventually become Batwing. For Camrus Johnson,...

Luke Fox is going through it on Batwoman.
To be fair, he just survived being shot by a Crow, seeing his dead father while unconscious and then waking up only to realize the man who pulled the trigger has no remorse and likely won’t face any real consequences. So yeah, he has plenty reason to be upset.

Batwoman‘s Ryan Wilder is fired up and determined to find the police officer who shot Luke, and TVLine has your first look.
