The hit London revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard is heading to Broadway later this year and bringing star Nicole Scherzinger and the rest of the West End principal cast with it.
As Deadline’s Baz Bamigboye revealed before Christmas, Scherzinger will make her Broadway debut reprising her acclaimed performance as Norma Desmond.
Although production dates and venue are still to be announced, producers said today that the musical will star Scherzinger along with her West End castmates Tom Francis (as Joe Gillis), Grace Hodgett-Young (Betty Schaefer) and David Thaxton (Max Von Mayerling).
In addition to preview and opening night dates, additional casting will be announced shortly. A fall 2024 opening has been widely speculated.

Jamie Lloyd’s production of Sunset Boulevard will transfer to Broadway in 2024, with Nicole Scherzinger reprising her role as Norma Desmond.
The revival of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical moves to Broadway from London, where it has been playing since September. Scherzinger will be joined on Broadway by her London co-stars: Tom Francis as Joe Gillis, Grace Hodgett-Young as Betty Schaefer and David Thaxton as Max Von Mayerling.
Exact dates and a theater for the Broadway run have not yet been announced. The London run is scheduled to end Jan. 6.
This will mark the Broadway debut for Scherzinger, who was formerly a member of the pop group The Pussycat Dolls. She previously starred in Lloyd Webber’s Cats on the West End and has made appearances as a judge on shows such as X Factor and The Masked Singer.

The David Gordon Green-directed Joe is drawing a crowd. Lionsgate/Roadside Attractions has been the frontrunner all day in an auction held by CAA, with Magnolia and Sony Pictures Classics among those in the hunt. Right now, it’s between Lionsgate/Roadside Attractions and Magnolia as the bidding gets into the $2 million range. The film is a contemporary thriller that stars Nicolas Cage and Tye Sheridan and centers on Joe Ransom, a hard-living, hot-tempered ex-con who becomes a fierce protector of a hard-luck kid who awakens a paternal instinct in the rough loser. It’s based on the novel by Larry Brown and premiered Monday. If I had to guess, I’d put my money on Lionsgate/Roadshow, but it’s premature at this moment to put a bow on this one. Stay tuned.

David Gordon Green's Joe mines backwoods, hick territory, finding a slight narrative kinship with Jeff Nichols' Mud combined with the tonal darkness of Winter's Bone. The strongest thread holding the three films together is obviously the focus on down-on-their-luck families with bad dental hygiene, drinking problems and poor living conditions, all of which are traits I typically loathe. Narrative's of this sort typically prey on the built in sadness that comes with seeing hard luck families scraping to survive rather than developing actual characters, but every so often a few rise above the rest. In this case Joe works and it doesn't. The tragic narrative has its hiccups along the way, but improves as it builds its story around two strong performances from Nicolas Cage and Tye Sheridan, elevating it slightly above similar exploitative white trash weepers. The exact location is unknown, but the film takes place in...

Joe
Written by Gary Hawkins
Directed by David Gordon Green
USA, 2013
David Gordon Green’s return to the South in Joe represents the director’s oddest and most violent yarn to date. Teaming with Nicholas Cage and the supremely young and talented Tye Sheridan (Mud, The Tree of Life), Gordon Green crafts a thorny and vile tale of fathers, sons, friendship, and redemption. Mostly functioning as a spiritual relative to the director’s 2004 film Undertow, Joe finds its director backtracking through coming-of-age tropes and jarring portraits of violence. Though it’s at times tonally scattered, Joe manages to leave a lasting mark despite registering as a middling retread in Gordon Green’s filmography.
Nicholas Cage plays Joe Ransom, an ex-con, chain-smoking alcoholic who develops a friendship with the 15-year-old Gary (Tye Sheridan), a hard-working and self-sufficient drifter, who along with his family, moves into Joe’s Texas town to squat for a while.

Nicolas Cage has seen the "Nic Cage Is Everyone" meme. In fact, he's seen the "Nic Cage Losing His Sh*t" video, too. But he realizes there's nothing to be done about them now; they've already hit the ether. Plus, as Cage told us, he would never interfere with the Internet's obsession with his career (and face). He's just happy he's staying relevant at all. (So keep it up, Reddit!)
While the performance in his next film has yet to become a meme, it is making headlines for a different reason: Cage's outstanding performance of a gun-totin', bearded ex-con named Joe Ransom. Directed by David Gordon Green, "Joe," based on the book by Larry Brown, follows the life of its titular character, who ends up becoming an unlikely role model and savior to a 15-year-old boy named Gary (Tye Sheridan). "Nicholas Cage has never acted like you will see him acting in Joe..." That's what filmmaker David Gordon Green told me in my interview (forthcoming) when we were talking about reinventing actors. I'm a big fan of Dgg and this year he returns to indie filmmaking in a big way, not only with Prince Avalanche (which I recommend seeing) but also with another film called Joe, premiering at Tiff next month. Nicolas Cage plays a hard-living ex-con who becomes friend and protector for a hard-luck kid, played by Tye Sheridan (seen in Mud & Tree of Life). We featured a first look photo back in February, but more photos are out now. Here's the newest set of five photos from Dgg's Joe showing Nic and Tye, originally found by The Playlist: In the dirty unruly world of small-town Texas, ex-convict Joe Ransom (Cage) has tried to put his dark past behind...

Tye Sheridan and Nicolas Cage in Joe David Gordon Green's Joe was once thought to be a film that may show up at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. Now it's set to premiere in Venice followed by a North American premiere at the Toronto Film Festival and based on what some people are telling me it's one I shouldn't miss as it's being said it's a film that redefines how we currently perceive Nicolas Cage as an actor. The film is based on the Larry Brown novel and described as a gripping mix of friendship, violence and redemption taking place in the contemporary backwoods South. Cage plays the title role as the hard-living, hot-tempered ex-con Joe Ransom, who is just trying to dodge his own instinct for trouble until he meets a hard-luck kid (Tye Sheridan) who awakens in him a fierce and tender-hearted protector. Sheridan you...

With each passing year, Tiff is becoming more and more prominent on the film festival circuit, with more and more Oscar-primed films making their debut out in Canada. And with the initial line-up announced for the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, the trend is definitely continuing.
Amongst the many, many films making their presence felt out in Toronto will be Steve McQueen’s highly anticipated 12 Years a Slave, which launched a powerful first trailer earlier in the month. The film sees Chiwetel Ejiofor lead a fantastic cast, with Michael Fassbender returning to work for his Hunger / Shame director, alongside the likes of Brad Pitt, Benedict Cumberbatch, Sarah Paulson, Paul Giamatti, and many more.
Opening the festival will be Bill Condon’s The Fifth Estate, which stars Benedict Cumberbatch as WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, alongside Daniel Brühl, Laura Linney, Anthony Mackie, and Stanley Tucci.
And closing it will be Daniel Schechter’s Life of Crime,...

In preparation for the Berlin Film Festival, Worldview Entertainment has unveiled the first photo from the upcoming "Joe" drama, starring Nicolas Cage and Tye Sheridan (The Tree of Life). The new movie is directed by David Gordon Green (The Sitter, Pineapple Express) and based on a novel by Larry Brown. Check out the photo below. Plot: In the dirty unruly world of small-town Texas, ex-convict Joe Ransom (Cage) has tried to put his dark past behind him and to live a simple life. He works for a lumber company by day, drinks by night. But when 15-year-old Gary (Sheridan) - a kid trying to support his family - comes to town, desperate for work, Joe has found a way to atone for his sins - to finally be someone's hero. As Joe tries to protect Gary, the pair will take the twisting road to redemption in the hope for a better life.

Here's our first look at Nicolas Cage in David Gordon Green's (Pineapple Express, Your Highness) upcoming southern drama Joe, and Cage is sporting a very different bearded look. The photo also includes the film's co-star Tye Sheridan (Tree of Life, Mud). I honestly think this is a pretty badass look for Cage.
The movie is based on the Larry Brown novel of the same name, and the script was written by Gary Hawkins. Here's the synopsis,

Check out this new first image from David Gordon Green's Southern drama "Joe," starring Nicholas Cage and Tye Sheridan ("Mud"). It is based on the Larry Brown novel of the same title, following an ex-convict (Cage) who tries to be the protector of a 15-year-old newcomer (Sheridan) in his small Texas town. Principal photography of the film recently wrapped, and it is being shopped at the Berlinale film market. Green, who has favored big studio comedies over the past few years ("Pineapple Express," "Your Highness"), returned to his indie roots at this year's Sundance Film Festival, premiering two-hander "Prince Avalanche," starring Paul Rudd and Emil Hirsch, to positive reviews. How many films does he have ready?! Though he started out with indies, director David Gordon Green ventured into Hollywood comedy for a few years, but has returned to the indie scene in a big way this year. His first new film, Prince Avalanche, just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Apparently he has yet another indie, this one titled Joe, shot and ready that's being sold at the Berlin Film Festival this month. Worldview Entertainment has released a first look at the film, starring Nicolas Cage and Tye Sheridan (Tree of Life, Mud) described as a "gritty, southern drama" based on Larry Brown's novel of the same title. Here's the first look photo in full of Dgg's Joe, starring Nic Cage and Tye Sheridan. Thanks to The Playlist. 1.) With the release of Monsters director Gareth Edwards' "gritty" Godzilla reboot just 15 months away, it's hard to believe we still don't have anything official in terms of casting. The film is currently awaiting a rewrite from Frank Darabont (The Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption), while simultaneously trying to build its cast in time for a March start date, though no deals will officially be made until the script is completed. The artist formerly known as Aaron Johnson was previously discussed as a possible lead, and it seems he is still in talks for the role. The latest news has Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene) and Argo's Bryan Cranston in talks to co-star. There are no character details of yet, but expect something more in the coming days as Legendary Pictures only has a few weeks to pull this thing together. Variety 2.) Matt Smith ("Doctor Who") has landed...
