Former Glee stars and longtime friends Lea Michele and Darren Criss have reunited once again for a special Christmas edition of Apple TV+’s Carpool Karaoke: The Series.
The two take a scenic drive through New York City as they belt out some of their favorite Christmas songs in a clip for the show’s holiday special. Funny Girl star Michele sings “Christmas in New York” and Criss performs “Christmas Dance,” both songs featured on their previous Christmas albums — Michele’s Christmas in the City, which was released in 2019, and Criss’ 2021 album A Very Darren Christmas. Both also have writing credits on the albums.
“I’m a fan of a lot of Christmas things,” Criss says in the video clip. “So I wrote a little song about all the things that make me want to dance at Christmas — and there’s even a little dance in it.”
“That is such a Christmas banger!

Following the announcement last summer that late-night host James Corden’s viral Carpool Karaoke talk show segment was being turned into a half-hour series for Apple Music, new details have emerged about the format of the show, as well as a handful of the initial guests slated to appear.
The 16-episode series, which still doesn’t have a release date yet, will not feature Corden as host, he announced at the TCA winter press tour alongside executive producers Eric Pankowski and Ben Winston. Instead, each episode will feature carefully curated pairings of celebrities and singers -- including John Legend and Alicia Keys, Seth MacFarlane and Ariana Grande, Billy Eichner and Metallica, and Michael Strahan and Jeff Gordon, Variety reports. Additionally, each episode will feature an interview of sorts amid the singing in order to broaden the bit beyond its current length.

James Corden has established himself as the perennial host for his popular Late Late Show segment, Carpool Karaoke, but he won’t be leading the new Apple Music series.
Instead, hosting duties on the 16-episode series will be split between 16 different celebrities, executive producer Ben Winston revealed to reporters during Carpool Karaoke’s Television Critics Association session on Monday.

The very first footage from the series showed several of the unique pairings of those hosts and their guests, including: John Legend and Alicia Keys (with a cameo by Taraji P. Henson), Will Smith and Corden himself, Billy Eichner and Metallica, Ariana Grande and Seth MacFarlane, and Blake Shelton and Chelsea Handler.
Though there had been discussions over who could take over hosting duties from Corden, it was just too tall of a task.

Jay Leno’s touch couldn’t help pal Arsenio Hall make it beyond one season in his return to late-night. After weeks of speculation, CBS Television Distribution has made a decision not to proceed with a second season of the syndicated Arsenio Hall Show, despite renewing the show for Season 2 in February after securing a two-year deal with the Tribune stations pre-launch. Leno surprised Hall in February when he made his first TV appearance after departing The Tonight Show to give him the news of the show’s renewal. But, after a stellar launch (1.9 in households, 1.0 in adults 18-49), The Arsenio Hall Show quickly faded in the ratings and never bounced back, despite a boost from a highly-rated Prince episode in March and appearances by Leno and Eddie Murphy. Cbstd tried righting the ship with an executive producer change in October when Eric Pankowski replaced Neal Kendall at the helm.
