While searching for their friend, the ladies run into a seriously demented family whose roots run toward the historic side of the macabre. "I call Save Yourself my love letter to the horror genre, because it encompasses not just one style of the genre, but all styles on the horror spectrum," Andrews explains. *full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Midnight Releasing. Director: Ryan M. Andrews. Writers: Ryan M. Andrews and Chris Cull Cast: Christina Aceto, Richard Roy Sutton, Robert Nolan and Jennifer Polansky. Sometimes, titles are self-fulfilling prophecies. Canadian director Ryan M. Andrews' (Black Eve) foray into the zombie apocalypse film genre is the soon to be released Sick. This title, completed in 2012, involves a viral pandemic, which leaves few survivors standing. Lacking in good acting and conflict, Sick manages to get some of the dramatic bits right. But, this film offers so many awkward scenes, that it becomes difficult to watch. As well, the film's characters are more vile than the flesheaters, themselves. Character turns against character in this disappointing sci-fi adventure. Not plot driven, Sick is an unenjoyable time spent with a group of survivors, who might be better off dead. The film begins with a split narrative.

You know her best for her role as Beatress Johnson in American Mary, but Tristan Risk has been a very busy girl lately, and she's about to break big. She sat down with Dread Central to talk about her work, past and future.
Little Miss Risk is a compelling performer, a staunch horror fan and a charismatic interviewee. She talked about her beginnings, her affinity for her beloved character Beatress and the loads of work she's done since. Risk is as witty as she is alluring and we're sure you'll enjoy reading her interview as much as we enjoyed speaking with her.
We started at the very beginning and asked Risky how she got started in the acting business. "I've been a performer all my life," Risk said. "That's everything from doing stage shows, school plays, musicals, things at my grandpa's church. I didn't go to the church, but still performed in the recitals.

So how, exactly, did she go from desk jockey to movie star? "Fluke," Cameron said.
She explained, "I went to school for fashion design. I've always been drawn to creative careers. I got hired out of my university by a major company, and for the first three months I thought everything was going fine. Then comes my first review and they have a big problem. Q&A Interview with Up-and-Coming 13-Year-Old Filmmaker Emily Diprimio
by Heather Wixson
It’s not often that you run across aspiring genre directors who are still in their teens so when we discovered a brand new Kickstarter campaign for Carver, an upcoming indie slasher from the filmmaking team of Ron Diprimio and his 13-year-old daughter Emily Diprimio, we immediately took notice.
In the campaign, the Diprimios’ describe Carver as, “a throwback 80’s style slasher that follows a group of teenagers who are haunted by a despicable act they committed on Halloween when they were younger.

We just got word of a new horror anthology coming to you courtesy of Blood in the Snow Festival Director (and Planet Fury writer) Kelly Michael Stewart. It's called Tales From Hell and it sounds pretty cool in a retro sorta way.
Tales From Hell is told in the tradition of those awesome anthology flicks produced by Britain's Amicus Productions back in the '70s, a style that's been revived in more recent horror anthologies like V/H/S and The Theatre Bizarre.
Through his new Silver Shadows Production company, Stewart and his team have assembled four original horror tales into a feature film hosted by and starring Robert Nolan (Sick, Familiar) as a different character in all four segments.
Each story is directed by an up-and-coming Canadian horror filmmaker: Ryan M. Andrews (Sick), Navin Ramaswaran (Nara), Gabriel Carrer (In the House of Flies) and Chad Archibald (Neverlost). Also, Michael Jari Davidson...

“It would be like if in The Twilight Zone the stories were actually happening to Rod Serling personally,” says Kelly Michael Stewart, “Rather than just hosting the segments, we have Robert playing a different character in each story. Much like it was done in Tales Of Terror and Karen Black did in Trilogy Of Terror. It’s basically a cool way to showcase some of the great horror talent that is coming out of Canada right now.”
Each segment is directed by four up and coming Canadian horror directors; Ryan M. Andrews (Sick), Navin Ramaswaran (Nara), Gabriel Carrer (In The House Of Flies) and Chad Archibald (Neverlost). “This was the logically next step for horror cinema in Canada putting together this dream team of amazing new talent”, continues Kelly.
Tales From Hell should be going to camera later this year with a 2014 release in theatres.

It's strangely fitting that the Blood in the Snow Canadian Film Festival premiered the same day as Toronto's first annual cold snap, and festival patrons were happy to cram into The Projection Booth's tiny lobby to escape the wind. Hiding from the cold isn't uniquely Canadian behavior, but when called upon to describe what it's like to be Canadian, it is an image that comes to mind, along with Mounties, beavertails and poutine.
Often, being "Canadian" is defined in contradistinction to the uber-nation just below us: the United States, I mean. We Canadians say it's cold because the weather in the States is milder. We say we're multicultural because we added an act to our Charter in 1988. But really, these things mean little in our day-to-day life in Canada. When I was a teen, being Canadian felt like a deficit of something; it meant driving to Buffalo to shop at T.

Horror has been in Canada's snow for decades now, starting with the classic Cannibal Girls and Black Christmasin the early '70s, through the classic early Cronenberg years of Shivers, Rabid and The Brood in the late '70s. In the '80s, we got films like Prom Night, My Bloody Valentine and The Gate. In the past decade, we've had flicks like the Ginger Snaps series, Cube and PontyPool. In fact, you could even count the last three Dead movies by George A. Romero as Canadian — after all, he is a Canadian citizen now and made all three films in Toronto.

A killer stalks a group of party goers who are throwing a Halloween bash inside a deserted department store.
Frustrating addition to the Halloween horror movie sub-genre has some good ideas, but fails to execute those good ideas in a meaningful way. Black Eve takes place on Halloween, but the story could have token place on any other day of the year, because Black Eve fails to do anything that properly pays tribute to the holiday. Veronika London's character is a take charge, pregnant nun out for a good time. This character should have made for a devilishly good time, right? Wrong, because her screen time is so limited and she isn't given much of anything to do. There's some stylish camera work here and there. Too bad it isn't more evident throughout the entire film.

From the man without a last name comes the urban thriller Ecstasy. This is an anti-drug film, as suggested by the trailer. Drug deaths, sexual assault, and misfortune all lead to destruction in the first trailer for Lux's Ecstasy, which is quite graphic. Ecstasy was shot in Vancouver, British Columbia and Seattle, Washington. The film is currently available through digital-on-demand and Ecstasy stars Charlie Bewley (Eclipse), Elisa King ("Psych"), and Christy Andersen. More details are below.
The synopsis for Ecstasy is here:
"In a college community, four teenage school girls find escape in a mysterious new party drug that brings them to new heights. A mother tries in vain to stop her daughters as she watches them become addicted and lose control, and all the girls begin to be haunted by the withdrawals, which makes all their fears, guilt and demons become real" (Ecstasy).

Veronika London Veronika London, the bad girl, the Megan Fox of Canada. One day you might read in the tabloids that she's dating Shane West (A Walk To Remember) or James Franco (127 Hours) the next. While these magazines are busy gossiping away on who she is having an affair with or what she's up to next, one thing they forget to mention is that this indie scream queen of horror films, has got a sizzling screen presence. Known for her edgy style and in your face attitude, Veronika London has that "it" quality that so hard to come by. She just has a way of owning whatever frame she appears in. Deemed one of the potential breakout stars of 2011 by this very site, Veronika London is making waves with racy Maxim photo shoots and a bold role in Ryan M. Andrews slasher Black Eve. With the completion of his latest horror film, Black Eve (an 80’s style slasher film) starring up and coming scream queen Veronika London, Ryan M. Andrews is switching it up to take on another style of horror-
the zombie sub-genre.
Having already tackled multiple sub-genres of horror,, surprisingly, Andrews was not expecting to do a zombie horror film any time soon. He explains, “I love zombie films, but I wanted to refrain from doing one, because it tends to be almost too common for low budget horror. Many times it is done wrong. Canadian independent filmmaker Morgan Muscat (Severance, The Devil Walks Among You) has announced that he will write and produce a new short film for his Moonlit Road Entertainment banner, with principal photography slated to begin next summer in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The film, entitled Suffer The Little Children, is an adaptation of a Stephen King short story from the author's Nightmares and Dreamscapes collection. Ryan M. Andrews is set to direct this adaptation.
The film tells the story of an elderly elementary school teacher who begins to suspect that aliens are slowly taking over the bodies of her students. Is her attempt to save them an amazing act of courage, or a fatal trick of the mind? Muscat obtained the rights from King earlier this year and has since written two drafts of the script, which he calls "a tense, nerve-shattering story that will stick true to King's work". The...

The one, the only, Robert Nolan is the ultimate chameleon slipping in and out of roles with such ease. He has appeared in dozens of short films including some genre fare like Richard Powell's "Worm", Ryan M. Andrews's "The Devil Walks Among You", and Daniel Reininghaus's "Eyes Beyond" to name a few. We got the chance to ask this incredibly talented actor a few questions. Here is what he had to say.
So for those unfamiliar with you, who is Robert Nolan and what are you all about?
Aside from knowing my own name and that I exist on this planet right now, exactly who I am remains as mysterious a world to me as you are to you. Does anyone really know exactly who they are and what they are all about? The depths of the interior human are as infinite as the universe our bodies inhabit.

Black Eve is a Canadian produced horror film that is now finished with shooting and just getting ready to create dark dreams. The film stars musical artist, producer, and rising actor Neil Green, who was interviewed here (Neil Green Interview). The film will be released on Halloween 2010 and the story is definitely out of someone's nightmare. Character Jewel (Eva James) awakens to find all of her friends dead and Green's character, the Man chasing her through isolated halls and abandoned rooms. Seeing your friends bloody corpses is as nightmarish as dreams come. Also, this is not the type of fantasy you want to fall asleep to, but Black Eve will excite those willing to face the darkness of unknown killers. The first teaser trailer is below and the dialogue is ominously delivered by Green himself as the Man. When is the last time a horror film had a voice-over from the villain?...

Black Eve is a new low-budget horror feature with all the right ingredients: gore, violence, scenes of sexuality and a high body count. Currently in postproduction in Toronto, the film (see an exclusive first photo after the jump) is the brainchild of scripter/director Ryan M. Andrews and his fellow producers Neil Green (who collaborated with Andrews on the story) and Rob Sweet.

The Fusion Films team has started production and the film sounds like it's going to be All Hallow's Eve fun fest with the film centering on the holiday of Halloween. Any film revolving around Halloween has our interest...
Ryan M. Andrews will be in the director seat with Eva James in the starring role. James will be pursued by a killer named Black Eve (a role essayed by actor Neil Green). Check out the synopsis below courtesy of Styd.
Plot Details: What does it feel like waking up to dead bodies all around you, realizing you are the only one that survived? Black Eve centers around a woman with psychic abilities, who retraces the last steps of her fellow guests at a Halloween party, in a closed down department store, who all turn up dead by morning.
